Do any of the Eds have any info on the proposed takeover of NUFC?

{Ed002's Note - Amanda Staveley's PCP Group is pushing ahead with the purchase of the club on behalf of the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, the chairman of which is Mohammed bin Salman who is heir apparent to the 84 year old King of Saudi Arabia. This could put the authorities (Premier League) in a difficult position regarding the "fit and proper persons" test given that he has been involved with significant civil rights concerns, repression of women's rights, war mongering, diplomatic issues with numerous countries, mass executions and specifically the murder of Jamal Khashoggi.)

How on earth can they pass the “fit and proper persons” test.

{Ed002's Note - I completely agree Patrick.}

Although i'm a big glasgow rangers fan of many years, newcastle utd have always been my favourite english team. I have many good friends i've met by going down to newcastle as regularly as I can. I have also been to a good few nufc games, at the superb st. james' park. The toon are an incredible, very passionate support and the best supporters in england bar none. Very loyal supporters you guys and deserve so much better regarding the owner mike ashley.

I as a going rangers fan, have seen at first hand, that ashley is no good for your football club and ain't interested one little bit. I back you guys all the way, in your fight against him, being the owner of your superb football club. Wish he would do one, sell up to a proper owner that the club and the newcastle utd supporters, most definitely deserve. The potential at your football club, you don't need me to tell you, is enormous, given the right owner!

This football club has the potential to become another man city within several years, under a new owner who will invest and run the club properly. I wish nufc, all the newcastle utd supporters all the very best wishes for the future. A magnificent football club you have, getting ruined by an absolute parasite of a man.
The best of british 'toon army'.

Right owner?

01 Aug 2019 20:35:55
Ed002. You mentioned interest in Amadou on another page. Do you have any idea what stage Newcastle are at with him or any other clubs for that matter?

{Ed002's Note - I don't know what you mean by "stage". Newcastle have had an interest in the player for sometime (when RB was in charge) and wanted to take hime on loan in January. Seville don't want a loan, already have a replacement but are asking (€15M) than Liverpool wish to pay.}

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2019 19:30:31
Thanks. Have Newcastle made any approach to the players reps or had any contact with Sevilla regarding a permanent transfer?

{Ed002's Note - I am not ionterested in giving any blow-by-blow updates.}

Hi All

Any news on any manager for Newcastle as yet?, I from West ham rumours and have been following your progress. or lack of it for a while

I do have a soft spot for Newcastle. every time I go up there I find nothing but loyal friendly fans whose whole round football knowledge is 2nd to none, and feel very welcome,

Im gutted for you all with the hand you been delt with. I don't know how or when but the sooner Ashley goes the better so football can breath again in the city.

Newcastle fan base is absolutely massive, is there no business people up there that can build a consortium, I know £300m is so much money but it has to be an investment in the long run what with TV money and fan base. Even if you had to go mediocre for a few seasons as long as u stay in the Prem it no different than you have now,

I can't believe no one has just came in paid the price to own NUFC, If I had the money it would be a no brainer. but would you want another Cockney in?? :)

Wishing you all the best

do you have any potential news/gossip on Newcastle's transfer targets ED?
I know its asking a lot, being a Newcastle fan isn't easy haha!
any sort of news is good for us
cheers mate

{Ed002's Note - I have explained what I know.}

News has appeared that joelinton is on his way to the toon? apparently left out of hoffenheim game today. now bruce has been announced signings will start to come about i'm guessing? or is this just paper talk

cheers ED mate.

{Ed002's Note - The club has been working on Joelinton for a while - Wolves are also keen. It is unrelated to SB.}

18 Jul 2019 22:16:59
Thanks for the speedy responses Ed 👍🏽
Guessing the take over is off. Same old Ashley.

28 Jun 2019 20:01:37
I know it sometimes requires a crystal ball when it comes to NUFC but I was wondering if any of the Eds could shed any light on

a) Who the club are looking at as a manager/head coach?

b) Which clubs have expressed an interest in Rafa?

{Ed002's Note - A tough question JimTim. There is a significant complication that concerns the efforts to get a takeover across the line. The two previous attempts at takeovers were, like it or not, well defended by Mike Ashley. One would have seen profiteering after a couple of years and the other would have simply seen the club flipped. Now there is some light at then end of the tunnel which I hope can work for Newcastle. All of this is why the club only wanted to extend Rafa by one year which was key to his walking away with dignity. Ideally the club would like to take someone on with a one year deal only - it gives time for a takeover and then the new owner will look to bring in a new coach. So it would be wrong to mention names right now - I know of one who has had a conversation but it will be tough to take on a one year deal. I could suggest someone but right now we should wait a little bit.}

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Jun 2019 05:20:10
Thanks Ed002. It's reassuring you see a a light at the end of the tunnel with regards to the takeover.

{Ed002's Note - Let's hope so.}

02 Jul 2019 15:32:00
is there a time scale on which both parties are trying to get the deal over the line ED? and does this mean mike ashley isn't prepared to invest in summer signings.

{Ed002's Note - It takes time and Ashley has always allowed investment in players - perhaps not enough to the liking of the fans.}

08 Jul 2019 12:22:54
Any further developments Ed002? Or is it still just a case of being patient?

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

10 Jul 2019 19:33:31
Rumours today suggesting that Ashley has contacted Steve Bruce.

That would just be so wrong on so many levels. Firstly, I don't think he's good enough to work miracles under the financial constraints that Ashley supplies, and secondly, he used to manage Sunderland, and therefore everyone is going to want his head before a ball has been kicked. Thirdly, why would he jump ship from his job at Sheffield Wednesday for a 1 year contract at Newcastle where he'll be hoisted if there's a takeover?

It has shambles written all over it.

27 May 2019 08:50:48
Do any if the Eds know if Newcastle United has been sold by Mike Ashley?

{Ed001's Note - not yet, not as far as I am aware of speaking to members of the family said to have bought it anyway. They say talks have taken place but Ashley is not easy to make a deal with.}

Agree0 Disagree0

27 May 2019 10:18:54
Top bloke Ed thanks 👍. Seems to be some conflicting reports floating around.

{Ed001's Note - people are just hoping to be right and be the first to say it, so are jumping in ahead. Sheikh Al Nehayan is desperate to own a Premier League club and will keep trying until he does own one. I would not be surprised if he is also one of the parties involved in talks over Leeds.}

27 May 2019 10:47:01
Interesting. Way to rain on a parade but again thank you.

{Ed001's Note - I wouldn't lose hope, the Sheikh would prefer Newcastle over the other potential options, so it is just about Ashley.}

27 May 2019 11:08:05
That's the problem Ed 😂.

{Ed001's Note - sadly that has been the problem for a long time. He says he wants to sell but he keeps finding obstacles to ensure he doesn't.}

27 May 2019 11:23:05
I agree comepletely with that. Well from my viewpoint at least, if he is serious, he surely won't get a much better chance than this.

{Ed001's Note - fingers crossed he decides to sell this time. Football would be a much better place without him involved.}

27 May 2019 11:23:05
I agree comepletely with that. Well from my viewpoint at least, if he is serious, he surely won't get a much better chance than this.

28 May 2019 08:54:01
Hey Ed001

How do you see the level investment being?

Will this be to the scale of Man City with training complexes and regional investment? Or more like Wolves, Everton and Leicester?

Also how will FFP impact? Seems like they wouldn't have same opportunities as Man City and PSG to over invest to catch up with all the changes.

Always thought the Citeh owners should have bought Newcastle.

Makes for a very competitive league.

{Ed001's Note - they will follow a plan similar to City I would expect. It is the way they work, planning for the grandkids futures rather than their own. So it will be very long term. However I don't think the potential in the area is quite the same as Man City to regenerate around the ground. I should say I don't know if it is rather than don't think. I don't know how much of the surrounding environs they would be able to get control of and rebuild. So it will probably end up being somewhere in between City and Wolves type of investment.}

28 May 2019 10:28:57
Going to be really interesting to watch play out.

Also with City, PSG plus others benefiting from Pre-FFP rules on over investment it will be interesting to see if this is challenged. Definitely makes it harder for them to scale as quickly as those others and protects the status quo (which ironically includes City) .

{Ed001's Note - I wouldn't get carried away yet, this announcement is more about putting pressure on Ashley than it is about it being done. Though it does seem Ashley has met his match this time, this guy does not mess about.}

28 May 2019 13:41:47
Fair point, I'm genuinely interested in how it plays out.

Would be interested in if thrle fit and proper person test (has anyone failed? ) would be an issue with the human rights issues and amnesty international's comments around sports washing.

{Ed001's Note - honestly there is far too much made of this through ignorance. Every country in the world, just about, has human rights issues. There is no such thing as clean money.}

22 May 2019 07:27:45
Eds is there any interest in Longstaff? Saw Ed001 saying he was a good player to watch out for, so was wondering about it.

Hope he stays in Newcastle to develop!

{Ed001's Note - I don't expect him to go anywhere this summer.}

Agree0 Disagree0

22 May 2019 15:05:13
That's great Ed! What do you think of the young lad?

{Ed001's Note - excellent young prospect. Should be on the fringes of the England team in my opinion.}

24 May 2019 03:44:58
Fingers crossed for him! Hope you're doing well Ed!

{Ed001's Note - he is defo one to watch out for in my opinion mate. You could see him growing as a player by the game. Sometimes even within a game. It will be interesting to see how he deals with this first set back though, as it is those that define careers.

Good thanks mate, you?}

16 May 2019 20:24:25
Ed002 can you see Rafa leaving? Any truth in him going to Celtic

{Ed002's Note - Benitez has a number of options but I would not hold your breath abouth a move to Celtic as he would need a great deal of persuading. }

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2019 21:51:08
Thanks for your reply Ed002 its anyones idea who'll end up at Celtic I just hope they don't go with the easy option.

{Ed002's Note - The easy option remains the most likely - the good option was put aside.}

17 May 2019 06:35:02
I'm intrigued what would you say is the good option? Or would you not like to delve deeper.

{Ed002's Note - This is the Newcastle page.}

17 May 2019 10:56:37
No worries Ed thanks for your time anyhow.

17 May 2019 14:13:54
Ed002, Do you know of any player Newcastle will be interested in this summer window?

{Ed002's Note - They have been looking:
Kenny Lala (RB/RM) - signed a new contract so looking unlikely
Rogerio (LB) a lot of money for an unproven player
Tom Cairney (CM)
Nicolo Zaniolo (AM) no chance
David Brooks (AM)
Ryan Fraser (RW)
Kenedy (LW) Chelsea open to sale but Kenedy is not so keen
Daniel James (LW) seen as an option to Kenedy
Dwight McNeil (LW/F) Newcastle are likely not attractive enough to attract him
Tammy Abraham (S)
Duvan Zapata (S) player was not keen on a move to West Ham in January and the €50M asking price has already scared of Newcastle and Inter Milan - WHU could return
}

17 May 2019 16:45:50
Thanks a lot mate. You nailed it last year with a few off your list being eventual signings so here's hoping for a few of those 👍.

{Ed002's Note - At lot will depend on what happens with the coach.}

23 Jan 2019 15:05:08
Questiom for ed002 if you have the time?

Is there any truth in newcastle signing martens, or is it th3 normal paper runbish?

{Ed002's Note - There have been discussions and it has not worked out well at Atelico, and could happen if a loan fee can be agreed.}

23 Jul 2018 19:37:23
Evening Ed002, just a nudge to see if you could squeeze in that Newcastle update? Much appreciated if you can, no drama if you don't have time yet. Cheers either way.

Hey ed's just wondering if you could give an update on any incomings and outgoings at Newcastle. Cheers ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2018 01:13:53
Hi Eds. Any updates on the incomings/ outgoings? Really appreciate your inputs, Eds.

{Ed002's Note - Sorry about this, time has been an issue. I have not checked to see if there are any very recent updates but my existing notes say:

Martin Dubravka (GK) - done
Karlo Letica (GK) – moved to Brugge and I would say the goalkeeping buy of the summer – one you will hear a lot more about
Ryan Fredericks (RB) – moved to Spurs
Kenedy (LWB) – arrived on loan
Federico Fernandez (CB) – discussed at the same time as Sung-yong Ki but came to nothing, NU may return but Schar is first choice right now
Kasim Nuhu (CB) – seen as too expensive and looking likely to join Hoffenheim
Fabian Schar (CB) – will arrive to replace Mbemba if RB gets his way
Mikel Merino (DM) – done but sold on
Sung-yong Ki (DM) – done
Thiago Mendes (DM/CM) - put off by Lille's €25M asking price
Andre-Franck Zambo Anguissa (DM/CM) – kept watching him last season but nothing will happen now
Valon Berisha (M) – opted for Lazio instead
Kasey Palmer (M) – loan wanted but not allowed
Mario Goetze (AM) – no realistic chance of him moving to NU
Stefano Sturaro (CM) – interest has gone
Lovro Majer (AM) – a wildcard option it may be worth keeping an eye on for the future
Andros Townsend (RW) – wanted but Crystal Palace will not want to sell
Carlos Mane (RW) – I expect interest has gone
Yacine Brahimi (LW) – in talks with another side and covered by arrival of Kenedy
Ruben Loftus-Cheek (M) – loan wanted but not allowed
Divock Origi (F) – remains possible but NU would only want a loan
Quincy Promes (F) – very, very, very, unlikely
Alassane Plea (S) – headed to Borussia Moenchengladbach
Yoshinori Muto (S) - may be a WP issue in England and if Gayle stays it would be unlikely
Salomon Rondon (S) preferred choice

Jesus Gamez (RB) - gone
Massadio Haidara (LB) – gone
Stuart Findlay (CB) – gone
Curtis Good (CB) - gone
Mikel Merino (DM) – moved on for purposes of profiteering
Jack Colback (DM) – loaned to NF
Chancel Mbemba (CM) – Porto would like a deal
Aleksandar Mitrovic (S) – will head to Fulham I would think
Dwight Gayle (F) – expected to stay

23 Jul 2018 23:42:09
A million thanks to you, Ed02.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

Hats off to Larry we can all smile again.
There can be no negatives only joy and a chance to re establish Newcastle United.

15 Oct 2017 20:49:22
Good hard worked result today
not an easy place to go
Perez good goal, his replacement Gayle waste of space but both of them are not PL standard
Mitro has to start Joselu is just passable
Anyway well done the team.

Struggling to understand what's going on with Amanda Staveley there's conflicting reports some saying she is the actual BUYER although I thought she's just connected to these middle eastern groups with the 28billion, I thought she'd be the one to negotiate the deal and complete the takeover between the buyers and Ashley

Latest is that Ashley wants to sell up asap as he doesn't want to spend in January (when does ever do that anyway)

Agree2 Disagree0

09 Oct 2017 21:49:47
Trying to pick the bones out
Coukd be Stavely is actually wanting to buy Liverpool which she tried to do before on behalf of investors and to be their link at the club with a possible Benitez return.

Her corporation is not one of the companies who have signed confidential agreement.

I hear a Chinese group are near to taking their interest further.

04 Oct 2017 18:34:38
Let us all hope there is some truth in Ashley selling up!!

I heard he is vamping up the price nearer 500m which is a joke

{Ed001's Note - he is in discussions which are subject to an NDA.}

Agree3 Disagree0

04 Oct 2017 19:27:04
Yes I know and he is trying to get what he paid with his loan taken out and 380m
NDC has nothing to do with the bid
As for Staveley she personally does not have enough money
Her consortium who are not one of the 3 parties of course do have the money in extream.

{Ed001's Note - she has no consortium, she represents extremely wealthy people, she is not actually a part of it.}

05 Oct 2017 09:18:41
Contradicting reports ed
Are that she wants to be part of it, but with a personal fortune of 110m she can not afford it unless she will be a figurehead for her clients who of course have billions.

But of course even at Ashley's asking price of 380m he could again move the posts.

Talks with Barnes are immenent
& all the loyal fans like JT and Des could be dancing a jig.

{Ed001's Note - I don't read reports, I am saying what I am told is her involvement.}

05 Oct 2017 10:31:31
Neither do I only what business I am involved with and this is news in those circles.

{Ed001's Note - then why mention the reports?}

05 Oct 2017 18:02:45
Because that is all you can mention when in this business
I know more than you but
I am not a reporter.

{Ed001's Note - if you say so.}

10 Sep 2017 17:56:21
Back to back wins can't ask for more
Some good performances BUT how does Perez get in any team he is wishy washy tracks back and does not tackle he is hopeless and Diame is not much better

Agree12 Disagree2

10 Sep 2017 20:02:21
thought perezwas okay to be honest.

10 Sep 2017 21:10:21
Your opinion suggest you watch the reppkay he was so inafective and offers nothing and the people I spoke to today around me thought exactly the same
What does Perez do he tracks back and does not make a tackle
, he can"t beat a man, he is Mr Average.
Perez Diame and Colback all need replacing.

10 Sep 2017 23:42:04
Perez contribution is poor
He runs about but at times looks lost for me also he is inefective a lot of the time
Today he was OK but just that
If anyone can help him Rafa can he is part of the team so let's see.

01 Sep 2017 13:53:57
Rafa Benítez has lost virtually all trust in Mike Ashley's regime at Newcastle United and, no longer regarding his job as a long-term project,he wull be receptve to offers

After being used to clean up the mess a ticking Bomb

Agree11 Disagree0

01 Sep 2017 15:19:02
Yes Rafa has now completely lost faith in owner Mike Ashley and his joke if a regime and is ready to listen to other job offers as and when they become available.

01 Sep 2017 21:03:36
I think for once all fans are united. I can only hope that the intent is to sell the club and they are trimming every cost to increase the value.
Maybe that is why Keith Bishop has been involved recently?

02 Sep 2017 11:00:53
One can hope des.

Why would Keith bishop getting involved make a difference?

02 Sep 2017 11:03:42
Think you are correct.

31 Aug 2017 22:01:39
God knows what goes on in Ashley's head. Is he trying to destroy nufc. We've got a world-class manager who could easily transform us into a top 6 side if only he would back him. Rafa will need to pull off a miracle to keep this team in the premier league. Or will he walk?

Agree3 Disagree0

31 Aug 2017 23:03:23
42 points are the aim 21 before January and 21 from the run in

Ashley can not handle the vast foitball World and will not play to any success

Unbelievably Rafa is allowing this to happen.

30 Aug 2017 15:20:40
Rumours that origi has been spotted. If this is true then Gayle is out. Not sure about this one.

Agree2 Disagree5

30 Aug 2017 19:25:16
Origi off to wolfsburg.

29 Aug 2017 21:52:44
Don't want us to sell Gayle. Shown for palace he's half decent in the prem and his pace causes problems, would be stupid to sell with no replacement and can't think of anyone we could get who would be just as good for 15-20m. He's been unfit last 2 games but he's useful and a different kind of striking option to have.

Just need to ship out Krul, Hanley, Lazaar, Colback then get some signings in, should be no excuses now. Think Benitez is more keen on saivet than colback.

Agree3 Disagree3

29 Aug 2017 22:31:48
Gayle on his way to Fulham. New No. 9 before Friday along with a LB whi knows nobody but reads positive.

30 Aug 2017 09:10:47
This is it I reckon. If Gayle is sold with no replacement that will be the last straw for rafa. Want us to keep him don't think we could get anyone better.

30 Aug 2017 13:37:55
Rafa wants to sell him.

30 Aug 2017 21:02:46
Rafa wants a different type of Striker.

31 Aug 2017 07:42:54
Already got 2 target men imo we need an option with pace.

26 Aug 2017 22:50:12
And he's the customary come down after high spirits from a win. Rafa now linked with West Ham job again and has a release clause of £5m+ which you'd imagine West Ham would have no problem paying, ultimately its his decision though. Would he go? Owners have more ambition, money and better players and would give him power, but in terms of stadium, fans, potential, stature, what do they have that we don't?

I would cry if he left for them

Agree3 Disagree0

27 Aug 2017 20:53:45
ed is it true that if benitez wanted to leave he'd have to pay £6m himself then if another club wanted him they'd have to pay £6m?

{Ed002's Note - I don't know the detail but it won't involve any payment of a fixed figure by him. It will typically require any interested club to (a) request the permission of Newcastle United to approach him, and (b) pay a fixed amount of compensation if agreement is reached for him to move. This amount can potentially be quite significant - but I don't know what it is.}

28 Aug 2017 19:53:34
JT Rafa will not have to worry about any compo it will be taken care of.
Let's see what happens after Thursday and if W Ham sack their man.

Rafa will leave but it is up to The Oaf when that will be.

26 Aug 2017 17:05:40
Enjoy lads, have a good evening with a few tinnies. Really really good performance, so many contenders for man of the match, merino for me. Everyone put in 100% very proud.

Mitro though summing up why he's obviously behind Joselu in the pecking order, could have easily screwed us over.

Ironic thing is Ashley could now be thinking we don't need any more players, perfect chance now for us to keep the morale and confidence up with a few good signings

Agree4 Disagree0

26 Aug 2017 18:52:20
Merinio top player rest of tbe team did well
Diame Perez Elliot simply not PL and yes we still need a quality striker

Ashley no to any other signings (I believe we are working on 3) Rafa could well walk come Mid October

Onwards and Upwards keep it up next 6 games 8/ 9 points I think anyway.

26 Aug 2017 18:58:40
Argentine International left-back Nicolas Tagliafico, from Independte linked
Could be a good signing then get a keeper and we could be sorted in defence.

26 Aug 2017 19:45:46
Let Rafa as long as we have him play the team he wants, but yes we have 2/ 3 players not up to it
and if we sign this LB it will help
Merinio shows he can fill a gap
We have the winģers we need another striker who can head a ball
Joselu and Mitro also have a job to play.

26 Aug 2017 20:30:27
Looks like we've found Shelvey's competition in Merino and I agree basically we need direct replacements for Elliot, Lazaro, Diame and Riviere

Looks like colback is finally going although he puts 100% in he's simply not good enough, Sunderland can have him back if they want.

17 Aug 2017 11:09:38
On the subject of Strikers it is said
Rafa having to look at the bargain basement end of the transfer market (signing Joselu for £5m whilst Championship club Middlesbrough pay £15m for a striker), it would indeed be a miracle if Rafa did get Newcastle to mid-table, never mind a European place

Agree16 Disagree1

21 Aug 2017 11:21:37
This team wouln't make mid table championship.

21 Aug 2017 20:40:59
Des the enormity of Benitez job is unbelievable
We sign the players we need which I think is minimum 3 or we will be in the bottom 4 all season.
