Ed002. You mentioned interest in Amadou on another page. Do you have any idea what stage Newcastle are at with him or any other clubs for that matter?

JimTim

{Ed002's Note - I don't know what you mean by "stage". Newcastle have had an interest in the player for sometime (when RB was in charge) and wanted to take hime on loan in January. Seville don't want a loan, already have a replacement but are asking (€15M) than Liverpool wish to pay.}

Thanks. Have Newcastle made any approach to the players reps or had any contact with Sevilla regarding a permanent transfer?

{Ed002's Note - I am not ionterested in giving any blow-by-blow updates.}

I know it sometimes requires a crystal ball when it comes to NUFC but I was wondering if any of the Eds could shed any light on

a) Who the club are looking at as a manager/head coach?

b) Which clubs have expressed an interest in Rafa?

JimTim

{Ed002's Note - A tough question JimTim. There is a significant complication that concerns the efforts to get a takeover across the line. The two previous attempts at takeovers were, like it or not, well defended by Mike Ashley. One would have seen profiteering after a couple of years and the other would have simply seen the club flipped. Now there is some light at then end of the tunnel which I hope can work for Newcastle. All of this is why the club only wanted to extend Rafa by one year which was key to his walking away with dignity. Ideally the club would like to take someone on with a one year deal only - it gives time for a takeover and then the new owner will look to bring in a new coach. So it would be wrong to mention names right now - I know of one who has had a conversation but it will be tough to take on a one year deal. I could suggest someone but right now we should wait a little bit.}

Thanks Ed002. It's reassuring you see a a light at the end of the tunnel with regards to the takeover.

{Ed002's Note - Let's hope so.}

is there a time scale on which both parties are trying to get the deal over the line ED? and does this mean mike ashley isn't prepared to invest in summer signings.

{Ed002's Note - It takes time and Ashley has always allowed investment in players - perhaps not enough to the liking of the fans.}

Any further developments Ed002? Or is it still just a case of being patient?

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

Rumours today suggesting that Ashley has contacted Steve Bruce.

That would just be so wrong on so many levels. Firstly, I don't think he's good enough to work miracles under the financial constraints that Ashley supplies, and secondly, he used to manage Sunderland, and therefore everyone is going to want his head before a ball has been kicked. Thirdly, why would he jump ship from his job at Sheffield Wednesday for a 1 year contract at Newcastle where he'll be hoisted if there's a takeover?

It has shambles written all over it.

Do any if the Eds know if Newcastle United has been sold by Mike Ashley?

JimTim

{Ed001's Note - not yet, not as far as I am aware of speaking to members of the family said to have bought it anyway. They say talks have taken place but Ashley is not easy to make a deal with.}

1.) 27 May 2019 10:18:54
Top bloke Ed thanks 👍. Seems to be some conflicting reports floating around.

{Ed001's Note - people are just hoping to be right and be the first to say it, so are jumping in ahead. Sheikh Al Nehayan is desperate to own a Premier League club and will keep trying until he does own one. I would not be surprised if he is also one of the parties involved in talks over Leeds.}

2.) 27 May 2019 10:47:01
Interesting. Way to rain on a parade but again thank you.

{Ed001's Note - I wouldn't lose hope, the Sheikh would prefer Newcastle over the other potential options, so it is just about Ashley.}

3.) 27 May 2019 11:08:05
That's the problem Ed 😂.

{Ed001's Note - sadly that has been the problem for a long time. He says he wants to sell but he keeps finding obstacles to ensure he doesn't.}

4.) 27 May 2019 11:23:05
I agree comepletely with that. Well from my viewpoint at least, if he is serious, he surely won't get a much better chance than this.

{Ed001's Note - fingers crossed he decides to sell this time. Football would be a much better place without him involved.}

Hey Ed001

How do you see the level investment being?

Will this be to the scale of Man City with training complexes and regional investment? Or more like Wolves, Everton and Leicester?

Also how will FFP impact? Seems like they wouldn't have same opportunities as Man City and PSG to over invest to catch up with all the changes.

Always thought the Citeh owners should have bought Newcastle.

Makes for a very competitive league.

{Ed001's Note - they will follow a plan similar to City I would expect. It is the way they work, planning for the grandkids futures rather than their own. So it will be very long term. However I don't think the potential in the area is quite the same as Man City to regenerate around the ground. I should say I don't know if it is rather than don't think. I don't know how much of the surrounding environs they would be able to get control of and rebuild. So it will probably end up being somewhere in between City and Wolves type of investment.}

7.) 28 May 2019 10:28:57
Going to be really interesting to watch play out.

Also with City, PSG plus others benefiting from Pre-FFP rules on over investment it will be interesting to see if this is challenged. Definitely makes it harder for them to scale as quickly as those others and protects the status quo (which ironically includes City) .

{Ed001's Note - I wouldn't get carried away yet, this announcement is more about putting pressure on Ashley than it is about it being done. Though it does seem Ashley has met his match this time, this guy does not mess about.}

8.) 28 May 2019 13:41:47
Fair point, I'm genuinely interested in how it plays out.

Would be interested in if thrle fit and proper person test (has anyone failed? ) would be an issue with the human rights issues and amnesty international's comments around sports washing.

{Ed001's Note - honestly there is far too much made of this through ignorance. Every country in the world, just about, has human rights issues. There is no such thing as clean money.}

I totally agree and was wondering myself which members of the consortium would be selecting the head coach. Thanks.

JimTim

{Ed002's Note - The club are taking advice from at least one third vparty and will have agents knocking on the door to do the same. There will be an interview process involving members of the board but after strarting in the right direction (lookming for a Director of Football or a Sporting Director), they are now heading down the road of manager/coach first - which is wrong.}

Do you have any updates on this Ed? Things seem to have gone quiet on bothe Favre and Rodgers.

JimTim

{Ed002's Note - Fonseca has been in discussions and I am told there are two issues to resolve but everyone is hopeful it can be done. I would rather they would have appointed a Director of Football first. They are taking advice from at least one third party. It needs a top-down approach or a creative approach. I hope it works out, I think the Newcastle fans need a break.}
