Great result. no complaints. though I would play Bennie on right wing. doesn't seem the same on left or down middle Great result Destoon ps I've lost count, will someone count up the Mackems wins this season and let me know.

His first attempt at playing upfront was against a top 2 side in England on a 10 man team, I thought he was excellent and was always a threat. Liverpool had to double up on him, which dragged their defenders all over the pitch.
I would not write Ben Arfa off in this role quite yet.

I'm with Harvey on this one. Benny's not really a winger, and doesn't track back enough with an attacking fullback, whereas both Remy and Gouffran work their socks off in wide areas. Plus, a tricky CF is liable to confuse opposition centre backs who are used to dealing with target men like Shola and Cisse. It won't work every time, but it will discourage hoof ball and encourage the midfield to link up better. I hope!

Despite some understandable criticism
Team selection was good and performance a lot better
with players showing commitment & some passion
Got to build on this performance ready for the
Mackems and next 3/4 games
A point on the board is good in anyone's
books with 10 men for over half the match
Suarez was and always is apart from a good player
a cheat and always piles on the agony when
tackled

Agree Suarez try's to get any tackling player booked
Sad because he is a good player

Pardew gets some stick on here but he got both selection and tactics right today. There's still work to do in training before Benny will be comfortable in the withdrawn CF role, but it's an interesting formation until a 'proper' CF comes along or Cisse finds form. Vic

I don't think there will be a player who settles in the false 9 role. I think with this tactic it allows any of the front three to rotate and interchange positions. It will be a front 3 of Gouffran remy and Benny against the mackems but throughout the match they will rotate around, otherwise being known as a "dynamic three"

I hope they do swap around. It's really a question of defending against opposition fullbacks. Remy and Gouffran seem to be better at this than Benny. He'll never be a target man for Krul's hefty boots upfield, nor will he hog the line like a 'true' winger. It boils down to a choice between Benny - lying deepish - or Cisse, well forward.

Fantastic result today, we never deserved to lose. I reckon if Mbiwa hadn't got sent off I reckon we would of won. First 40mins was the best 40mins I'd ever seen in a long time. We looked like a top team. Tiote was one of our best players today and played in the anchor role which he thrived in. Great strike from Cabaye. Remy did well for the team. Willo put a shift in, krul saved us at the end. The whole team was brilliant every player and fan should be proud of that result. Could of nicked it with remy! But anyway play like we did in the first 40mins and don't get a man sent off and we'll batter sunderland

Shows how frustrated we have all been
The team played to its potential today and up to the coaches to keep it at a crescendo
Unwashed next I fancy us on this performance

How an earth Is that a red, Mbiwa just had a hand on him didn't push Suarez or pull him down. Suarez just fell over. He's the biggest cheat ever, it's just changed the game for us, we were by far the better team in control and looked like a top side, Mbiwa was pretty solid and he didn't deserve to get sent off. Let's just hope we can hold on for a draw. C'mon lads I believe in the team.

"Can't touch the player"
It's still supposedly a contact sport so why not. It wasn't a foul. Liverpool are cheaters. Always have been. Suarez would be a good player if he wouldn't fall over from someone looking at him. Most of Liverpools team is like that though

Confirmed lineup for Liverpool.
(4-3-3): Krul; Debuchy, Yanga-Mbiwa, Williamson, Santon; Cabaye, Tiote (c), Sissoko; Gouffran, Ben Arfa, Remy.
Very ambitious, I like this team selection, I am glad Tiote & Anita are not playing together.
The Gaffer is going for it.

I think Santon will be our key player today.
From what I have seen of Liverpool this season, they like to get down that right flank.
That is if Santon plays, it is possible Pardew could slot Mbiwa in at left back, with Taylor available again.
