Still any interest in Enner Valencia? Also what is the story about us apparently being favourites to sign Guillermo Ochoa on a free?

Also, seen us linked with several WC players. remember the last time we signed a player off the back of a decent WC? Stephane Guivarc'h.

Looks like our chances of signing Pierre-Michel Lasogga are over. Apparently been offered £55k by Leverkusen. No chance MA will sanction that layout, plus the possible £6m-7m fee.

StuW

1.) No point trying to blame MA for that one, £55k pw is way too much for a young unproven player. Remember Xisco?

2.) Geordietoon didn't mean it as a "it's his fault", more that he isn't proven enough to be worth that.

3.) And wasn't trying to stick the dagger in either. I do however semi agree with the clubs policy of trying to buy players only 'if the price is right'. Unfortunately for all the right noises they make, they never seem to have a backup plan.

Reports saying we have joined the race for Basel's Mohamed Salah.

Also in the same report says we are trying to conclude a deal for Luuk de Jong.

Agreement reached with Montpellier (finally) for Remy Cabella, although their (loopy) president says he won't leave this winter.

Interesting how Pardew has been using Cabaye in the no 10 role, maybe already preparing for the departure of Yohan, and incoming of Cabella (natural no10 type)?

Montpellier confirm they have received "two concrete bids for Y. Belhanda with whom we are in agreement, it is up to the player to choose". Newcastle and also Spurs are very interested, along with a few big clubs from across Europe.

If (big if) we can sign him, he could score goals from midfield. He plays just behind the striker, so would provide some sort of link-up with Cisse.

StuW

1.) Pardew would play him right back

2.) Or left back because pardews a bellenda

3.) Would be much easier to recruit if we had a ood manager

Get that person out of our club. One of the worst runs of form I have ever seen (anywhere). We were more capable of picking up points in our relegation season. Thankfully we have the points already on the board to be safe of relegation for this season.

Absolutely no idea tactially what he is doing. No man management skills at all. No emotional ties, and after this length of time at the club, he should have. No willingness to play anything other than hoofball to Ameobi and De Jong.

What happens next term? We bring in average players, nowhere near the quality we need or should be chasing. It will be the "we couldn't get them over the line" as always. Remy is never a realistic target now, the club should have had a £6m or £8m buy clause in the contract. Now his value is double that, and MA won't spend that in one window, never mind on one player.

Lacazette? Grenier? Cabella? Richards? If we bring them in, I will be happy, but I ain't holding my breath.

StuW

1.) Under Alan pardew we will not be seeing any of those types of flair players, we will only see the Gutierrez type.

2.) What you on about Pardew is exactly the manager The Hopeless One wants do what your told & don't complain
Stuck with him I'm afraid

Ed, is anything actually in the works at St James? Or are we all right to expect a disappointing end to the market?

StuW

{Ed013's Note - Still in talks with potential signings}

1.) I'm a sceptic. I think ed has to say that to keep people coming her till midnight. ;)

{Ed001's Note - naw, we would rather not have you all moaning at us at 11pm if no one comes in, but you are trying to sign players. Don't hold your breath though, I don't expect anyone to actually arrive.}

Now we have to go all out for Aubameyang, pay 15m plus another 3/4m in performance related bonuses (would work for both parties). As for Zouma, I doubt we will be in for him. Far too highly rated to go for any less than 15m, and MA will never pay 30m for two players. Plus, unless we are going to play three at the back, he doesn't fit.

Bent. no. Prima Donna, over-rated, overpaid, over valued. He can't get in Villa's goal-shy squad, so where would he fit in? Tomlinson. maybe, at 5 or 6m. Average player, the only reason he would cost 10m is because he is fairly young AMD English.

StuW

1.) St Etienne will demand 15m and Ashley will refuse to pay any more than 13.5m and we'll here that we couldn't get him "over the line".

The only reason we're interested in Tompkins is because he's English, people complaining about us having too many foreign players in our team so now we're going to try and sign average players just to make these people happy.

2.) Stay positive, this is the first bit of excitement we've had.

3.) I think we've got a very good chance on both of them, we're a big enough club and they'll get first team football.

Good player in Holland. so was Jon Dahl Tomasson.

Not saying he won't work out, but a lot of players come and fail to cut it. He didn't do a job at Gladbach, hopefully he will prove me wrong

They don't want to sell until their relegation fears are over/confirmed at the end of the season.

Possible. We could get him signed up now on a pre-contract agreement for July, or now for a nominal fee, similar to how we got Sissoko last January

Did you actually think about a single word you typed?

Jonas will not go into Serie B, plus the fact Bari (and most/all of Italian football) are skint.

Coloccini will only leave for San Lorenzo, his boyhood club. Plus the fact he has al but said he will stay at the Toon for another season.

Dickie all three would be certain improvements on what we already have, if not in the starting XI, certainly from the bench.

Caulker still has plenty of room to improve, Mutch I think could add some depth, whilst Redmond is a miles better player than Jonas or Obertan.

Art, why do feel the need to post the same stuff over and over. Instead of being a fan who sits talking crap, why not support or be quiet?
