Ed, are rumours about Gutierrez getting a new contract if he plays a certain numb er of games true?
was expecting him to line up for us yesterday and allow Sissoko a bit of a rest.
Seems to be frozen out along with Marveaux.

{Ed001's Note - it does seem to have some legs, there is certainly some clause after a number of games, just difficult trying to ascertain if it is an extension or a new contract altogether. It might simply be a year's extension.}

Expect Obertan and Marveaux to leave in January with a replacement for one brought in.

geordietoon

1.) Obertan went and stormed out after being told he will not be involved. GO TO SUNDERLAND

2.) I like Marveaux but Pardew does not and there are better wingers also so an upgrand basically would be good. Obertan is awful. Need a top striker who can get around 15 goals a season, while Remy can to, need a creative midfielder because Cabaye is tired at times

3.) We should go for someone with strength like Gomis and partner him with the pace of Remy

I really love the fact that the club has just been getting on with business. Most of our signings, if not all, have been done quietly until the point that a deal was agreed and a medical expected. Not even those journo's close to the club don't have a clue about incoming signings.
Rafa's changes have been magnificent, maybe the notorious club insider that's been leaking info has been found out and shut up. maybe that person was just our previous mgmt or coaches. loving the way the club is just getting on with things without fuss.

More positive for sure.

Steve Black and Ian Cathro

Steve Black - even his powers do not work on our squad, something is really wrong.

Ian Cathro - I get the feeling he is being isolated by McLaren and Simpson. There must be a rift developing somewhere and maybe it's within the coaching team.

I really would like to see and hear more from Ian Cathro.

Colback looks every inch the Sunderland player he was 18 months ago.
Coloccini allowing way too much time and space - a big problem.
Most worryingly, Wijnaldum is going missing.

Totally agree collo should of been replaced. He's crap.gets dragged out of position easily turns his back on shots.non vocal. And just gives them way to much space. can't teach an old dog new tricks. Get rid.

2.) 21 Sep 2015 10:29:56
Everyone agrees, he has had two good seasons and one of those was in the Championship. If Terry is droppabable then surely Collo is.
Collo's performance all season has been woeful so why is he still playing and why is he still captain?

Wanted to get everyone's thoughts on Ian Cathro's role. He's supposedly the same as Paul Simpson - but so far Paul Simpson is the one left shouting instructions to the team at the beginning of a match whilst Paul Simpson also does a lot of media duties.
Would certainly like to hear more from Cathro - especially as he was someone seen to be able to bring a new philosophy to the club.

great start by Adam Armstrong on loan at Coventry.
Looks like they'll be giving him game time and as long as he comes up with the goods he'll stay in the team.

i'm only upset by the club he has chosen. he showed last year he can play for a much bigger team than palace.
just wonder why there was never any genuine interest in him by clubs bigger than palace.

I voted yes he'll be here past xmas, not sure how much longer he would last after xmas though.
I also voted for Klopp though I get the feeling that the only discussions we would have with him is the one where his agents says 'we have nothing to discuss' out of courtesy. I'd love to have him at the club though.

Ashley in truth has trusted the club to Charnley and Carr, imo there is a lot of trust placed in Carr and whilst I don't have the time to put together a list of his hits and misses, I feel the magic is certainly waning. Though the McLaren appointment was merely because of his friednship.
I said during the summer that McLaren is the most credible appointment we have made in recent years, I still believe that, we always knew we were short a striker, I hope things start to come good. but with Chelsea and City looming, it's going to get worst before it gets better.
If we lose against Chelsea and City I hope it's not having rolled over, I hope they show some fight going into a period where we really have the chance to pick up many points.

Hernandez should also be an option and available at a reasonable price.

Though Berahino is the type of player we need, I feel there's more of a 'good deal' available with Austin. Though there'll be a lot of competition as I fully expect QPR willing to accept around the £12m mark on the final day.

OK deal done. Sissoko plays on the right - there's always a chance he might leave.
Assuming we have money for one more player - which position would you all want filling?

I think Rafa is also on the board. Might not mean anything until we know which league we're playing in next season but he has been quoted as saying he's on the board.

i'm sure he will be given a large bonus if he kept the club up so it's a no brainer for him to take the job.
though I don't think Rafa is the type of guy who wants a relegation on his CV so I think he'll be motivated to keep us up and improve us in the longer term.

geordietoon

{Ed001's Note - who else could Newcastle have got? He will work those players hard, while McClaren was soft on them and it was clear that approach did not work. Maybe Rafa's will? Or maybe they are just not good enough? Only time will tell on that, but there certainly needed to be a change of approach, the players were coasting through the season under the brolly.}

it all starts at the back, we need an experienced centre-back and left back. we can't put any more creativity in our midfield because we need to have 2 guys to help defend. we should only need one defensive midfielder in the team. get some defenders in, a creative midfielder and Charlie Austin.

I wouldn't at all be surprised if his next job involved having more control on transfers. But money does talk and we could get him.

something is wrong for us to implode like that but this is a far cry from the performances of John Carver's team. The next 6 games will definitely be the making or breaking of Steve though. They're ll winnable but i'd say at minimum we need to win 3 of those 6.
