Newcastle are said to be interested in Aston villa superstar Andreas weimann, who will be available for just 2m as his contract runs out soon. {Ed007's Note - I would say superstar is a bit of an exaggeration.}
Agree with Ed
He's been brilliant for villa, and he could be the answer to our left wing problem
If this is true and assuming we get him, I think we should try and play a 4-5-1 with him and Sissoko as CAMs, Cabaye a bit further back as the play maker and Goufran and HBA as wingers with Cissé or a new striker, if we sign one, up front. However I don't think this will happen because even if it's true there'll be a lot of clubs interested in him including some big ones e. g. Dortmund is another team I've seen linked with him and they've got the Götze money, plus they can offer bigger wages and regular champions league football.
Had one good season all be it in a struggling team
You can say the same about Benteke but there's ni denying that he's a good player, same goes for Weimann
Just another player with no real defined position.
Jack of all trades, Master of none.
Don't we have enough of those already?
I get amused when somebody says a player is linked, then everyone suddenly starts been managerial experts planning the new formations haha. I'm sure if we 'were' to sign Weiman he'd be no more than a squad player for a bit of depth! I certainly don't see AP rejigging his entire formation to fit him (or any other) new signing in!
I think Pardew would try new formations, depending on things like players leaving and coming in e. g. Tiote leaving, do we play the same formation with Perch or Anita or do we play 2 attacking mids in front of Cabaye e. g. Sissoko and HBA? (yes I know HBA plays on the wing but I've always thought he'd prefer a more central role)
Pards is tactically inept and can't get the best out of players. as if his contract didn't have a clause of a low settlement in the event he was sacked. he hardly had better options on the table, he would have signed 4 a 10k pay off. he needs to go, we can't progress with a manager who goes backover
