Would quite happily take Shane long and maybe try an do a deal for pavlychenko with the rite competition they could turn out to be good strikers

I have always like Pav and think he would be superb if he started more games. In fact, I would prefer him to Sturridge. Dont get me wrong, Sturridge is on the up, Great player, but I think he is out of our price range. Still a bit of growing up to do but will be class.

Sturridge deal looking less likely now, and to be fair, would go back after 1 season anyways to replace anelka

Al it takes is one season to fall in love with our fans and to get us in to Europe then we can splash the cash and go for the big guns

ED is it true that we will sign Erdinc at the beginning of August?
Ive heard that we have agreed a fee, agreed personal terms and he is just waiting for a bonus payment from psg(Which he wanted us to pay and we rightfully didnt want to) which he gets at the end of july.

{Ed042s Note - Theres no guarantee we will sign him at the end of August regardless of the bonus situation, if PSG sign competition for him between now and then there may be a good chance we will, but this bonus payment story has not been confirmed by any reliable source, and although a lot gets into the media, issues of that nature do not get into the public domain generally... it may well be the case, but whether it be true or not is not the only thing holding up the transfer.. because of PSGs recent cash injection, once he has a shot at first team football he may well stay, future would hold better wages, european football etc only way he will 100% leave is if there is no place for him at PSG, plus his agent has had a serious falling out with Newcastle over this whole situation, may have something to do with him pushing for us to sign both Erding and Matuidi, now we wont pay what he wants in signing or bonus fees for Erding, and we have pulled out of making an offer for Matuidi because of the 13m price tag.. think Newcastle and Ashley is playing hardball with them, putting them in a position where they have to accept what we offer, but this may take some time.. then again all this bonus payment end of July stuff may be 100% accurate and he will sign straight away.. genuinely think theres more to it though and our relationship with his agent is not on good terms}

{Ed042's Note - Only thing I have heard the player himself say so far is he wants to stay and fight for his place at PSG, havnt heard him mention Newcastle once or an interest in coming to us.. again this "agreed terms" business is much the same as the bonus story, actually came from the same article.. there is no confirmation from any source of real substance to say that he did actually agree personal terms, how would this info get out there unless his agent, himself, ashley, llambias or pardew said it? its all speculation, may be true, may be not.. think the more important question fans have to be asking really is, do we want a player who isnt really up for playing for us? or is he actually a quality player? why is there no interest from other clubs if he is quality? or could we get better for the money he will cost? what do you think yourself mate?}

All the stuff about all this information getting out is a good point mate, there seems to be no reliable source.
Personally i think he would be a good buy for around £7-8 million. He is the type of striker we need and i think a few people have been put off because he didnt have his best season last season, but before that he was regarded as one of the hottest prospects in France. But as you said we should only sign him if he wants to come.
And ive actually heard there is strong interest from lille in him(not from the guy who just posted at the top of the toon page lol) Also heard Tottenham were looking at him at one point.

The Toon are looking at free agent Luis Boa Morte according to the Daily Mail and BBC football gossip page.
Think he will be a good signing for us.

Boa Morte isn't a free agent as he signed a new 2 year contract in 2010.

Do you think there is any chance of Newcastle going in for Dundee United striker David Goodwillie now Dundee United are out of Europe ED? {Ed007's Note - I wouldn't imagine he would be on NUFCs radar, it looks like Cardiff are in the driving seat for him but Rangers are also interested along with another couple of Championship teams. His impending court case is holding up any deal so far.}

Was at Tannadice on Thursday night and he looked no better than Championship at best - first half he didn't want to know and second half when he put some effort in he didn't look good enough

Well tbh they've said for ages that smith is available on a free, entirely different to being released of course....I know he's in America but weird how twitter has come up with this. Probably become clearer when he's back from the tour sometime next week?

He is free to move to any club who want him, but until then he will stay on the books at Newcastle playing in the reserves.
