I think against Sunderland we should play a 4-4-2 diamond (no wingers)
GK: Krul/Harper
RB: Santon
CB: Williamson
CB: Coloccini/Perch
LB: Jonas

CDM: Tiote
CM: Cabaye
CM: Anita
Free-role: Ben Arfa

ST: Ba
ST: Cisse
If we're gonna play Ba and cisse both up front then we need to give them more support, we played like this against Liverpool and it worked. Ben Arfa isn't as affective on the wing so give him a free role and he can support and attack how he wants.

Believable6 Unbelievable2

Krul Mignolet
Santon Gardner
Williamson O'Shea
Perch Cuellar
Gutierez Rose
Tiote Johnson
Anita Larsson
Cabaye Sessegnon
Benarfa McClean
Cisse Saha
Ba Fletcher

Agree1 Disagree2

Unfortunately I don't think ba and cisse can play together when only two upfront. I personally think if we are playing 2 strikers then ba and ameobi must start. This is by far the best partnership for us at the minute. The problem with cisse is he can't bring the ball down and play in others where shola and ba do this very well. And as for them being international team mates they just seem to be on a different wave length (far to much space between them).

Agree1 Disagree0

Im a red and white and the way were playing and the way your playing the score will be 1-3,got to hold my hands up we havent a midfield, its playing absolutely cack.tk73

Agree6 Disagree3

Do my eyes deceive me? Is that really a mackem there just above me thats already admitting defeat?

Agree4 Disagree1

God you dont seem very confident my makem chum youve only lost one game havnt ya?

Agree2 Disagree0

You havent watched us play this season mate, the midfield is playing terrible, the only highlights we have is about 1 and a half minutes and thats fletchers goals.tk73

I have been told will be the safc team for the derby.Mclean will be dropped.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mclean deserves to be dropped,he goes backwards not forwards cos he cant find any space.tk73

I cannot believe the negativity on these pages! Yes we've had a bad start to the season and are yet to find any sort of form but what do you expect when we haven't strengthened our squad. Our current players when fit and in form are excellent players but that's only our 1st eleven! More or less every other team in the premiership strengthened and our players are being found out. We've needed at least one new centre back since Saylor was injured against Chelsea last season but we didn't invest. Pardew is still the manager who succeeded so well last season, Ba is scoring goals for us so stop with the negativity. We don't know what's goin on behind the scenes. We know we didn't invest in the summer and I hope its not going to be too late by Jan. Keep the faith, We will come good, we have a great first 11 but we need them fit and in form.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Sadly you can not just rely on the first 11 as injuries are costing us dear at the moment.

Ba will almost certainly leave in January so Pardew needs to grow some balls now and make Cisse our main striker. Harper is slow and dodgy,also Anita is,i feel, gonna be an expensive mistake although i hope im wrong. When everyone is fit maybe he should play;
Krul
Simpson Taylor Colo Santon
Tiote Cabaye Bigi
HBA Cisse Fergie

Jonas has crossed maybe 2 balls max that have resulted in goals so needs to sit on bench.
Gosling,Marvaux and Obertan need shifted out in January and replacements brought in that can actually look like they can play.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

What the f*ck are you on about stop being so negative that Ba will leave!! Can't you just appreciate his feelings for once!

Agree2 Disagree1

FFS! You know our chairman is a frugal penny pincher and no amount of b*tchin and moaning will change this. I don't particularly like Ashley but he has done some good even if u don't agree to his methods. Yet fans reaction time after time is throw more money at players. I bet you'd wet ya pants at the thought of having uber rich owners that throw money at the last hot product, ripping the tradition and soul out of the club and ultimately the English game.....me I'd prefer to play 11 kids frm the youth system wit some local lads in there who'd play wit pride but that would never happen at a Prem club as the Prem is the holy land and teams are too scared to lose out on the TV/advertising money. Football will end up being sports entertainment not a sport someday.
I'm happy at our 1st team and if NUFC were to buy players that were as good as our 1st teamers we'd have to spend 10-20 mill per player....So that aboot 80mill if we need 4 players...not likely. Support the team instead of being a fickle glory hunter :P

Agree1 Disagree3

I posted on here a while back about harper , nothing has changed IMO , to laid back , his performance on Sunday showed that , needs a rocket up his ass !

Agree4 Disagree0

Play 11 local lads? 10-20m per player to improve what we have? WHAT players do we have that are worth 10-20m? WHAT have you been drinking? Leave it alone and sober up son! If the club wants to advance season on season ( like the Fat Lad and Pardew are spouting) then investment is needed season on season. NO not 20m players like you are putting about but players like Debuccy (7m) Douglas (5m) Who would DEFO improve our squad. Stick to your xbox mate.

Agree1 Disagree2

Hahaa i dnt own a xbox thanks and i aint ya mate ...pal :P did i say 20mill up front what aboot agent fees and wages!

drop Cisse, well lazy, shola playing best he ever has, but dont put him on wing at least it looked like it. Ben arfa dissapeared altogether, Anita cant even control the ball, harper wellll what was he doing, Santon lookes better at left back, sim on right and ferg on left wing

Pardew got it wrong yesterday.

I mean what is the point of putting Shola on and taking off Ferguson who was most likely to provide a cross for him? Jonas was never likely to and never did.

Also why bring Shola on and play him wide right....for his pace?? Obertan has been electric lately and should have come on instead.

We lost it in the first 15 mins by just lumping it forward usually to Cisse, who usually lost it. If that was the tactic then he should have started with Shola.

Unless AP starts making some unpopular decisions and playing either Ba or Cisse and not both we will struggle this season. Either of those with HBA in behind is the way to go with Jonas Tiote and Cabaye in midfield accompanied by either Obertan or Anita on the right. Stuff Simpson, Santon is different class there and Ferguson is good at left back. We really need the skipper and Steven Taylor back quick, not to mention Krul as Harper is a liability. Maybe we shoudl play Forster instead......oh no we sold the future England international for peanuts in the summer and used teh money to buy, er well nobody actually.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Fergie is a LW not a LB he's wasted there.

Agree0 Disagree2

Although this is a very negaive post your spot on really.
Pardew seems too scared of upsetting players so won't just do whats best for the team.
We basically play long ball without having a team that suits long ball.
We saw last season we've got a lot of fantastic footballers in our squad and that 433 is the way to go for us so why have we dropped that? Ba spitting his dummy out can't be the only reason surely?

Agree1 Disagree0

Ye, coz 433 with ba on bench worked well against everton disnt it boys?

Agree3 Disagree3

433 will only work regardless of who is on the bench if we keep the ball on the deck. My original post was negative I agree but what was there to be positive about, the reaction after going 0-2 down is that not teh least we should expect from professional football players? Mind you the least I would expect from our "main" centre half is to be able to mark at corners.

Face it we offered up loads of chances last season but teh oppo. did not take them and even in games we won against teh likes of Norwich/QPR/Swansea/Villa we were outplayed. The team needed to evolve and move on from last year but it has not, we are relying on an ageing Collo who is now back with Argentina so doing loads of travelling when last year he was resting, an injury prone STaylor and a useless Williamson to keep out top strikers.

Agree1 Disagree0

I agree with the pardew being too soft.
surely he has realised its either Ba or Cisse or both but only if Ben Arfa is playing directly behind them. otherwise only one of them will be scoring the goals. everyone knows once they both score at the same time then we have one of the deadliest strike force in the league.

Awful start today, terrible at the back again, though for the rest of the game we were well into it - though shots on target figure is a big concern!

Really rate Ferguson but the lad had no chance with Williamson and Perch as his CB support against the Man Utd front 3 today! If Simpson wasnt fit then Jonas or Anita should have started there as we need the experience. Iv been wondering how Anita would play in the CB role like Utd sometimes do with Carrick too.

Think I would have started like this

Harper
Santon Williamson Perch Jonas
Tiote Anita Bigi
BenArfa Cabaye
Ba

Though maybe have moved Anita to CB, Perch to FB and then Jonas in the centre.

With our defence so weak right now we need to have a wall of defensive midfielders protecting them. And we need to do that at the expense of Cisse. We all know they just dont look like they can play together and that Ba is our main man! When our defence is stronger again then lets work it out and try them but right now we need to protect the back!

Believable0 Unbelievable2

It amazes me how quickly we have forgotten Cisse great goal scoring run back end of last seasonand Ba's barren spell. Ba is scoring because he is up front at the expense of Cisse because they can't play as a two. Why not put BA out on the left again ,he still gets shots in and Cisse thrives better. When Ba leaves in January as he probably will Toon will have an out of sorts striker in Papiss due to being constantly subbed off or pushed out wide.

Well, dissapointing result. Game was pretty much over after 15 mins but I felt that if we got a goal before half time we could have gone to get something from this game. However, it wasn't to be and Cleverley's goal killed us off completely. I haven't been one of the doom and gloom supporters but if we don't start picking up some momentum I can't see us finishing much higher than we currently are. Cisse needs to be dropped for Sunderland - the Mackem Slayer must be put in to do what he does best. Hopefully we'll have Colo, Staylor, Simpson and Krul back in the starting line up and with them we can get a result at SOL but it's not going to be an easy game. Pardew has to find a formation that works and keeps both Ba and Cisse happy - because they can't work together in 4-4-2.

I elect that for Sunderland, we line up like this providing the players are fit:

GK: Krul
RB: Simpson
CB: Coloccini
CB: Staylor
LB: Santon
RM: Ben Arfa
CM: Cabaye
CM: Tiote
LM: Guttierez
ST: Ba
ST: Shola

If this isn't working, we could move to 4-3-3 if we bring on Ferguson for one of the strikers and play him down the left wing and then move Ben Arfa to the right and Guti to central midfield. However, if we are being overrun and are on the back foot, Pardew must change the system before they have run away with the game.

Believable0 Unbelievable4

He needs to get back to 4 3 3 and play Ba on the left. That's when we were at our best last year. Get Cabeye further forward so he can influence game more. I can't wait to see Krul back harper is shocking so casual he sets a bad tone for the team. If fit I'd play
Gk Krul
RB Anita
Lb
Santon
Cb Taylor
Cb Colocini
Rm Ben Arfa
Cm Tiote
Cm Gutierrez
Free Role Cabeye
Lm Ba
Cf Cisse

Agree2 Disagree1

Ba doesn't want to play LW and considering his current form, he shouldn't have to. He's scoring goals whereas Cisse isn't so why should he be the one playing out of position? His agent has already threatened that he'll leave if he keeps being played on the Left Wing so unless you want our best striker to leave, I think we have to play him as a striker. Agree with you about Harper though - Would rather have Elliot in goal because he's actually looked quite good in the Europa League.

Agree1 Disagree1

No whats the point on playing Ba on the left. He is much better through the middle. Why drop an in form striker? Put cisse on the wing if anything!
