Im not sure if i'm alone on this one but I don't think we can rely on Collo like we used to. His game has gone back over and he is nowhere near the player of 2 years ago. Watching him in pre season I noticed that his communication with other defenders is very limited. He doesn't seem to read the game and has no pace. The sooner some of the fringe players make the step up the better. I would like to see Dawson sign for us as we need experience to help bring the youth on
Our defense as will be seen over next 3 weeks is a joke Unless they have at least one CB lined up

Although Collo didn't leave two years back he may as well have. It is another sign of the weak leadership at the club both by Captain and Manager.
Collo needs to lead by example, I know this sounds daft but guys like James Perch (who we sold) would make a better captain. He came through tough times, stuck at it and actually made a great contribution to the team and was highly professional.
Pardew doesn't know the meaning of the word professional and continues to embarrass the supporters. Mike Ashley seems to have a disdain for professionalism when I think of it. All of his hires.
There aren't that many good defenders about. And half decent ones cost a fortune, just look at £20mil for Lovren and £50mil for that Brazilian who has gone from Chelsea to PSG.
We can't afford good defenders.
Should've got Lescott. Richards would also be a good buy. We will never get anyone better than these guys.
Mbiwa was one of the best defenders in France but has struggled in the premier league.
Most of the best defenders are 28 and older as experience is vital. But as our transfer policy is to only buy players no older than 28ish we will always struggle at the back.
