If we are seriously interested in the banguras then we should strike now before we lose out getting serious interest but no firm offers so we should steal in and grab them
Also still expecting NUFC to get in 2 to 3 more players
Squad starting to have a good shape about it Steel in the middle with width and creativity

Believable0 Unbelievable1

I thinks its probs a bit late now like all the top 4 are interested.

If no Erding then it is down to the Championship to look for a striker. Long is the most likely to be targeted. I want us to go for the likes of Rodellega, Vela, Rondon, Bendtner, Chamakh players that have clearly something to offer who arnt really having the oppertunity to do it week in week out at their current clubs.

We wont get any of these players due to the demands they would have for wages etc

I have said this before but I think it s worth saying again. Newcastle are for once doing things mostly right in the transfer market. In the past we spent millions on so called big names like Owen, Martins etc which didn t work Yes we probably need a striker but I feel it was evident that we lacked in creativity last year and relied on Barton to provide the quality of service. Pardew has spent a little money in this area, ok some fans might not know the new players coming in but hardly anyone had heard of Tiote when he came to us last year I think Newcastle fans need to be realistic and see that out aim is to try and finish in the top ten and build on that, there is no point buying a 30 million pound striker if we can t achieve a top five finish and that won t happen for a good few years. It s my view that we go for a cup competition and try to ensure we finish in the top ten The only area on the pitch I would like to see investment is in defence particularly in the right and left back areas. It s not about how many goals you score it s about how many points you get and last year we gave away too many point by having a leaky defence so in some ways I would argue we need more investment in that area that having a big named striker. Teams that win things usually have the best defensive record simples

The fact is yeh left and right back is a problem but we have seen that the likes of ferguson and tavernier will hopefully be able to step up. the fact is we need a player that can score 15 20 goals a season and those players dont come cheap so its well worth paying 10 mil plus to get one of these players.

Agree2 Disagree0

We've went from one extreme to the other, that is the problem. We went from spending big on poor players, to spending nothing and looking for frees mostly.

And what we've been doing for the striker situation is stupidity. Dropping our interest in pretty much every target, Sturridge, Bangura and other in the sole pursuit of Erding..

Agree0 Disagree0

If we do not invest in strikers and invest in more defenders, we will end up with 0-0
nearly every week We need a striker more than anything If BA doesnt play well or gets injured we are back to square one- L'krands-Best-Ameobi. Not good enough for the Prem. Not going to get over 12 goals a season. Lets just go out and get a half decent striker. Plenty around. Young from Monaco would cost £6m. Add Long £7m (squad rotation).

Agree0 Disagree0

You say that we relied on Barton last season. Who are we going to rely on this season if he doesnt take a pay cut?

Just thinking that with the players currently classed as first teamers and with best now staying the first squad with the additions of ben arfa and gosling along with 4 new lads we dont look too bad as a squad and along with some of the youngsters coming through like sammy, ferguson, vuckic, airey, tavernier, kadar and dummett.
Think things look brighter already and could surprise a few people when the season gets under way
I dont mean european football or anything but dont think we will struggle as much as some people think we will

**** BREAKING NEWS **** Newcastle are interested in ???, oh yeah everyone but we have a useless owner who wont back the toon, we will end up with Grant Holt or someone cheap like that - I for 1 am losing patience with the toon - hate to say it but we should be more like the mackems and invest in our squad

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Dont talk wet man We stayed up last year in a transitional year for us when survival was the main aim This year we aim to push on and improve on that. We have brought in 45 new faces and thats the right direction to be heading so how is following the unclean the right way? They have practically brought in a new team of players Not good Thats a team who are gonna struggle cos as a unit they havent been togethor long and teams need time to build up an understanding

Agree0 Disagree0

* 4 new faces even

Was only a week ago that AP said no deals would be done for at least 2 weeks so not really expecting anyone in for another week or so Most of europe waits for the 1 big deal to be done and people start moving
