krul was brill tonite and jonas saved us the game. need a striker soon haway the lads

Believable7 Unbelievable1

Don't want to take anything away from Jonas' goal line clearance, but the 2nd clearance/tackle from M'biwa was just as good if not better.

Excellent, though, both put their bodies on the line to make sure the ball didn't go in during that passage of play.

Agree2 Disagree0

Krul was saving it if anything Jonas made it worse and then Yanga-M'biwa's tackle saved us.

What is going on with pardew and his changes once again nearly lost the game due to totally crazy changes. We already had a passenger with Jonas on without bringing on strolla. Losing confidence in his ability to manage this clubs.

Believable8 Unbelievable5

If it wasn't for jonas we would have drawn and lost two points I know he's getting a bit behind the game but kept us in for the points tonight.

Agree4 Disagree10

I knew someone would say if it was wasn't for that goal line clearance. So what about the other 90+ minutes then when he offers nothing. Bearing in mind krul would have saved it anyway.

Why is gutierrez still in the starting 11. Hè was the worst player today.

Believable10 Unbelievable7

He's the worst player most days, apart from Willo.

Agree1 Disagree0

No, perch didn't do very well

First things first, Fair play to Villa, considering the amount of recovery time they had, they fought hard. Newcastle was solid in the first half but in second we were in shambles but other than the poor refereeing decision which led to the penalty our defense held up, yes, they were rocked but held up . . .now, we have to build on this victory and help the new players settle . . .iToon.

We scraped villa. We need genuine attacking promise! We've signed some great players but without a striker I think we're still going to struggle. Score more, stay up. Simple. I did say Cisse would get more thrrouh the middle, just saying.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Agree3 Disagree1

Totally agree mate. He is awful so is Jonas. The way Pardew hug at the end of the game make me question what game he was watching.

He hugged him cause his block saved us mate.

Agree0 Disagree2

Krul was right behind it. He cost us more when he keeps giving the ball away.

thank god we won played brilliant 1st half and fell apart 2nd half, krul man of the match and all the haters of gutierrez he clearence off the line saved us, sissoko looks class act and s, taylor and colo unreal looks like mbiwa be sub for awhile.. but defo need another striker if cisse gets injured were in trouble...

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Guttirrez was brutal going forward but good defending that's why he's playing but glad pardew kept him on his clearance off the line got us the win, can't believe marveaux wasnt in the team and wasnt even in the squad a joke he's 1 of our best creative players... need new striker by thurs. bony, wolfswinkle, graham...

Agree3 Disagree1

Cleared off the line, also lost possession more times than I could count and broke up so many attacks with his lack of ability.

Agree4 Disagree2

Marv injured mate

Hope so and just not an excuse to sell him....tommorow

YES GET IN! That win is a massive season changer! Loads of positives for us there. But you can't really accuse them of being on the back foot because if you're 2-0 down, get an early goal, you're going to pile pressure on, Give all the credit to the lads battling till the end to get our first away of the season, a bit clumsy of debuchy but altogether very happy, first away win of the season, got that monkey of our backs! Brilliant! So happy! Through that last 45 mins, I thought it was never going to end! My heart was in my mouth, my stomach was churning once every 30 seconds! We can carry that win, play at home to chelsea with bags of confidence! Sissoko was brilliant, reminds me of yaya toure. Cisse should be back to scoring form, happy days! hopefully we can avoid relegation (which we probably will) and try and clinch mid table. The new signings made a world of a difference, jonas played alright but still think he shouldn't start next game. M'biwa was great, we could be looking at a new era of newcastle! We have strength in depth, something we haven't had in a long time. Williamson finally out of the team! Fantastic! can't describe how happy I am, can't describe how stressful that second half was! Great resilience and pardew came out with a good gameplan that guided us to our first away win! Toon forever, geordie moses

Believable3 Unbelievable2

I am very happy with the points and the first half, and severely worried about what I witnessed in the 2nd half.

I do not want to put a dampener on the win but we got the 3 points out of nothing more than luck.

We have got to be better than lucky if we are going to avoid relegation.

Agree5 Disagree2

Calm down lads this is exactly the worry I have one win against a very poor side, hung on second half big improvement but let's not count our chickens just yet !

we were absolute poop the second half but at least we won please sign a top striker we need it we are still not safe yet !!!

Pardew takes off Perch and Gouffran, who have by no means been great, but leaves Gutierrez on?! Is he watching the same bleedin' match?!?!

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Jonas must have something on Pardew to keep selecting him. He is awful wouldn't get a game for Whitley Bay.

Thank you for finding Sissoko, Graham Carr. You've unearthed a gem for minimal amount of money, his value will be 15x 2million in a couple of years

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Another gem to add to the collection!

Teams for tonight:
Villa: 3-5-2/5-3-2
guzan
clark vlaar baker
lowton westwood bannan nzogbia bennett
benteke bent
Newcastle: 4-2-3-1
Krul
Debuchy Saylor Coloccini Santon
Perch Cabaye
Gouffran Sissoko Gutierrez
Cisse
Why the hell is guti starting? I'd rather have sammy than jonas, he's not a winger, he can't take on full backs. Can see why he's put perch on, fair play as I think it would be too much for mbiwa to make his debut away. But at least we've got 3 flair players now, gouffran, sissoko and cabaye which is nice to see! Villa have got a VERY dangerous attack, jonas simply can not give the ball away like he usually does and santon can't get caught too far forward. But where's obertan, elliot, willo, mbiwa, anita, bigi, sa. ameobi, sh. ameobi. No gamechangers there!

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Where's Marveaux?

Agree1 Disagree0

He's injured

cant believe the team for tn. pardew doesn't have a clue. you buy a captain of montpellier who won the league with them you spend nearly 7 mill on him then you play taylor who has been out with injury for months

Believable3 Unbelievable1

He still has to adjust to the prem... will possibly be brought on as a sub for s.taylor, who won't be match fit yet

Agree2 Disagree0

Yanga-mbiwa has never played in the premier league in his life, sailor has experience in the prem, give mapou's debut at home

Agree2 Disagree1

29 Jan 2013 17:48:36
I suggest people watch Gutierrez before saying that we need him to 'provide experience', to provide valuable experience you need to actually be a good player, which he is not. Perhaps he was alright a year or two ago, but that time has passed and it's time he get put on the bench at the very least.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Anybody who thinks Gutierrez has any shred of a good footballer left in him should watch this Villa game. He is shamefully bad, for the love of Christ get him out of the starting 11.

Ryan taylor back in training, like a new signing, we've bern dreadful from set peices this season, not sure were hel fit in though

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Yes but nice to have that choice !

Okay so his legs might have gone a bit and his desire might outweigh his abilities now but people seem to be forgetting what a great servant Gutierrez has been to this club. No-one works harder than him. I would like to see how HBA or, god forbid, Obertan would have dealt with all the tracking back he was tasked with last season. Professional, committed and hungry, let's give him some props!

Believable6 Unbelievable5

No denying that but he is no longer gud enough for our team.he doesn't go forward and take people on like wingers should and he had to track back becos of santon getting to caught up the field i'd play hiadara lb and santon left wing least he gets forward and takes people on.time to say thanks to guti for everything and get rid

Agree2 Disagree1

It's horses for courses. I wouldn't want Ben Arfa to work up and down like Jonas use to. It would kill what he is the pitch for. Jonas has been a good servant but that doesn't mean he warrants a start. He isn't good enough anymore to be a regular.

Agree6 Disagree2

Agree that he has been a good servant for the club. But the position we are in at the minute we cannot afford to play people just for sentiment. For us as a club to move forward Jonas is not the answer and needs to be replaced in the starting eleven. Keep him for the bench as a decent squad player

Agree3 Disagree1

I know no footballer wants to be on the nech and will always beleive they are good enough to start. and as with all the above you can't deny the guys work rate, but again as above I can't think of a better guy for the bench to bring on if needed either going forward or to help track back. I think if Jonas had 20 minutes and knew he was going to be getting 20 minutes you would soon find he had plenty of legs left. he could go 100% for that 20 miuntes rather than spending 70 minutes having already burnt himself out tracking back. will he want to stay and be a squad player. I don't know. but if he is happy in newcastle and not looking to be finishing his career elsewhere then I think he is a great option from the bench. Niktoon

Agree1 Disagree0

If wasn't for jonas covering back santon would be shown up everyweek can't wait to see what santon is like without his cover

Agree1 Disagree6

This is absolute garbage, the only person who gives less to the team than Jonas is Williamson. He cannot perform the most basic of tasks, can't pass a ball 5 yards, can't go past a player, can't put in a tackle. The only thing he can do is win a free kick... In our own half! He spends more time on his arse than anyone else on top of everything. He is LAZY, if you think he gives his all for the team then I suggest you watch him over 90 minutes. The only good thing to be said about him is that he seems like a pretty nice guy. If we had Marveaux playing instead of him we wouldn't be in the awful position we are now. I wish San Lorenzo would ask for him instead of Colo. He is useless.

Agree1 Disagree2

That was alarmingly definitive. You forgot 'in my opinion' there.

Agree1 Disagree0

Fair enough, apologies. I don't like using first person words on this site. It's very frustrating (to me) to watch him start when we have much better players like Marveaux sitting on the bench, madness.

Agree1 Disagree0

Scratch that, Marveaux isn't even on the bench? Anyone know why?
