Newcastle will sign a defender but will no pursue a striker in Jan, we have too many on the books ....joke

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yeah but half of them don't know their left foot from their right and couldn't hit a barn door!

Kris Boyd is currently a free agent, surely he's worth a shout? Heard any rumors ed? {Ed001's Note - not with him connected with English Premier League teams, he failed to impress in the Championship which has made teams wary.}

after listening to AP on ssn and looking at the players we have available when BA heads off to the acn i realise we are looking for a scorer to step up. take a look at the reserve league table and you will see nufc are in 3rd place with a game in hand over 2nd place ( safc in 2nd) and look at the academy (u18s) they are top so would it not be a good move to take a look at some of these players like phil airey and see if a job could be done by one of these.....spenny mag

I see we all hating Pards today after his "no striker" comment i agree with him we spent time and effort in looking at maiga and now its fell thru i waouldnt expect them to just buy any1 without some lenghty scouting not how nufc work anymo been stung alot with methods like tha eg.Owen,Viduka,Luque (WelshToon)

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Most top strikers are costing fortunes and we cant afford that so AP and co look long and hard before acquiring any and this is a possible reason why he saying we wont be bringing one in! Also if a striker (best) was to move in january then we could be back in the market

Agree0 Disagree1

Well sack the scouting team then. Do you think they have spent 12 months looking at ONE striker only for it to fall through? Only the Fat Man and his sidekick Lamearse are standing between Pardew getting another striker in.

Agree6 Disagree0

No but thats who they settled on and felt was the best and affordable option for us

Agree0 Disagree0

Sacking the scouting team sounds good doesnt it? i mean theyve only found us tiote and cabaye and marveux aswell as identifying BA. so yeah sounds good!!.....spenny mag

In light of the comment from AP i can only assume the MA thinks/hopes the following.... They will attempt to keep Ba until the very last day they can before sending him off. And then think (or pray) his team is knocked out very early in the tournament, sending him back in a few week. If this is the case they likely feel they wouldn't have a new striker in and starting anyway in that time frame, so whats the point. I don't agree with this line of thinking, and believe our team should always be looking to add quality players, but it may explain AP comments. Everyone seems worried about the weeks that Ba is in Africa, but what happens if he picks up an injury there? that and his medical past are just more reason why we need "quality" cover. But its always one step forward and two steps back under this ownership.

Whatever else Ashley is he is still a business man and it would not be in his interest for the Toon to be relegated so he wont allow Krul Collo Cabaye and Demba Ba to go we will make a couple of signings in the window ( I remember the same people moaning about not signing anyone in the the summer well for one I rate highly Cabaye and Demba Ba might be the buy of the season Free transfer 14 goals compare to Torres 50M 4 goals) Im thoughly enjoying this season and Im enjoying watching the new lads who people said we wouldnt get.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Well said, totally agree. All of this negativity and "woe is me" moaning is already annoying the sh1t out of me.

I would have offered great odds to anyone daft enough to bet me that NUFC would be 7th at Crimbo with a 5 point gap (and 12 over the Unwashed).

I thought we'd do ok but not this well and I'm very grateful for the surprise.

Be patient - ambition does not equate to what happens or who we buy in one season. The model is clear - develop each year without overspending and bring through youth. Seems to be working as far as I'm concerned.

Also - whats all this anti-Pardew ranting about? I wasn't too enthralled when he arrived but he's proved me wrong and I couldn't be happier about that!

Does all of this make me an Ashley apologist? No - I'm just going by the evidence that's slapping me in the face every day. The results speak for themselves.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Pardew has said we will not be signing a striker in January mate.

Agree3 Disagree1

Its true been on sky

Agree2 Disagree0

Never saw pardew on sky been busy all day cheers for the info lads

Agree0 Disagree0

It could be BS to throw people of the trail. team like Liverpool do not scount themselves but follow our scouts about. I will be well peed off if we sell one of our player in Jan... Ba to Liverpool for 35 mil or something... Its all well and good selling for high prices, but if the money does not go back into the team what is the point? The fat one has had it easy recently but if we dont get a striker or a defender the protests will need to start again. I for one would love us to be sold to someone with deeper pockets that the fat one.

Agree2 Disagree1

Our great and mighty club are going nowhere under this present regime. Sack the lot including puppet Pardew. I have to admit, they seem to be in a much better state at Sunderland with their boardroom and managerial positions. I fear the worst come the end of the season and it pains me to say so. How I wish we had Martin O'Neill instead of this cockney stooge!

Agree3 Disagree3

Teams like liverpool dont scout? youve had too many brown ales. they one of the biggest clubs in the world you muppet {Ed025's Note - of course they do!

Agree0 Disagree1

Problem is he tried to sell us for£450m to the lot who ended up with city.. At that time we were messing with relegation week in week out.. He's skimming a fair few bob off us now £5-£10m a year so how much would it cost to sell £500m maybe

Agree0 Disagree1

Safc seem better off? not even funny!

Agree1 Disagree1

500m for newcastle who dont 100 per cent own ground or land? ha ha dream on

Agree0 Disagree1

150 million is what he bought club for! all land in city centres are only ever "owned" for 99 year anyway as it will always tryely be city council land. same as sunderlands ground and every other club in the country. plus im sure st james land is acquired off the parish hence the name being saint. this is true in all aspects of property ownership in the uk!

Agree1 Disagree0

You mean sports direct land, whats st james park? its the sports direct arena try and remember that

Agree1 Disagree0

Its our own name though! not a english translation of a foreign teams! Add sponsored by Tombola to yours too!

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats also my point! if we didnt own it we couldnt change it! if you rent a house you cant change its name! get my point now?

suarez banned on friday lads

Believable3 Unbelievable0

No he isnt as he has 2 weeks to prepare his appeal to the ban and is available in that time. this has all been well reported in the media so take a look!.....spenny mag {Ed001's Note - different ban, the ban for showing the finger to Fulham fans takes immediate effect.}

Agree2 Disagree6

Your the one who needs to take a look Spenny Mag, before writing such an obnoxious comment!

Agree0 Disagree0

Means carroll will start and sure to score if not him then bellamy

Agree3 Disagree1

He's from Spenny they come out of the womb snarling

Agree1 Disagree0

Carroll hat trick

Agree1 Disagree2

Yeah he is

Agree0 Disagree0

I was presuming the ban for racism so i apologise for my comment and accept i was wrong. fair enough. but i wasnt being obnoxious just stating what i read. seeing as tho i got it wrong and held my hands up surely this means i aint obnoxious just human!.....spenny mag

Well after Pardews statement it loks like Fat Man will be just happy to stay in premier league. We are looking at defenders? What league from? For now or future? Are we gonna hope for 0-0 draws for rest of season? If we go behind at moment, We always have a hope with Ba up front. With Shola,Best and Lovenkrands, its game over. Come n Ashley, show some ambition or please please get out of our club!!!!!

Believable6 Unbelievable1

Pardew is a pathetic little puppet who knows s**t about what it takes to have a top 10 premier league squad. When Ba leaves we are left with Ben Arfa as the only goal scorer that is good enough for PL and he is not even a striker. We are so going down and the day Ashley and Pardew leaves is a good day for all Newcastle fans.

Agree3 Disagree4

Get a grip we are on course to finish top 10.

Agree2 Disagree1

Look at the makems then look at us,that will make you feel better

Agree2 Disagree1

Look for one cheap central defender in the window and no striker with one top player going out.
Ashley has no ambition for our club other than to get his money back as soon as possible.
Why can't fans realise this?
2012 would be the best year ever if we could get rid of this buffoon.

Agree3 Disagree1

Youre sh##e little club has cost ashley 150m+ of course he wants his money back before he takes up his season ticket at the stadium of light

Agree2 Disagree1

Can't agree more with this last comment made.ashley is a mackem carry on the good work agent ashley happy new year.

Agree1 Disagree0

Agent Ashley legend, even better when Krul, Colocini, Tiote, Cabaye and Ba are sold within the next year, money talks for agent ashley and he wants his back

Agree2 Disagree0

You makems are really bitter.how much does your little club owe short,no doubt he will want his money back also..prats.
jog onto the championship were your little club belongs

Agree2 Disagree2

Loving the mackems pulling our team apart. theyve named nearly every player lately but will go quiet when the window shuts and at end of season when they looking at playing charlton......spenny mag

Agree1 Disagree1

Short has put his money in to spend NOT as a loan so we owe him nowt havent named half as many players as Speeny mag has every player on fifa 12 i think we will get players in jan and if we playing charlton next year then so will you cos there wont be much seperating us come may mad max

Agree1 Disagree1

Mad max.you talk out your back end,you are a disgrace to every sunderland fan,i bet you havnt even got a season ticket.

Agree1 Disagree1

We owe short nothing sorry to burst your bubble, nope sorry that happened in the last 7 games lads, back on the losing bandwagon against liverpool and man utd, hope mandy carroll gets a hat trick fri

Agree0 Disagree0

Mad max you talking crap! every chairman who puts money into a business expects a return! if not then no manager would ever be sacked for non return of funding. E.G. funding for players to win trophies or points etc! obviously never reads a statement and ive looked at my posts and ive named maybe 2 players so how is that the fifa 2012 list? plus its "spenny" not "speeny" typical illiterate mackem black neck! spouting in anger at a post that was an obvious statement!....spenny mag

pardew on ssn saying we wont be signing a striker in this window. So we will have to wait till the summer (18 MONTHS) since carroll left. surely its not that hard to find a striker, i might turn up at the training ground with my boots and ask for a trial. im sure id be a better replacement for ba than best/lovenkrands/shola

Believable3 Unbelievable0

We have signed a striker since Carrol left somebody called Demba Ba hope he is ok

Agree0 Disagree1

Yes but who covers whilst he's at ACON my friend.

Agree1 Disagree0

The squad will have to step up! thats what its for. remember BA wouldnt be scoring if the others werent providing for him!

Agree1 Disagree0

So i take it your quite happy with the striker situation then. What if Ba picks up a long term injury too. Do you really think we will score plenty of goals in his absence ,if so i'll have what ever your drinking. End of the day we look weaker without him imo.

Agree0 Disagree0

Never said i was happy with the situation but accept that we dont have ultra millions to spend and that the club costs a lot to run and MA not willing to gamble financially with the clubs future. NUFC are my team so i will support them no matter what whether i like it or not. protesting against the owner would be ridiculous when we are sitting in 7th with a good chance of moving higher. we could be 1st and some fans wouldnt be happy. its just an excuse to moan!

Agree0 Disagree1

I'm no moaner but there is the small matter of the Carroll cash to re-invest which has never happened and i would of thought the fact i'm passionate in my beliefs shows my love for the club. For what it's worth i will always back the club no matter what but Ashley is pushing us fans to the limit . And another thing you don't haveto spend millions on a decent forward when Maynard could be picked up for 2 or 3 ml.

Would actually be surprising if cashley only gave us the money to sign ridgewell in January?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Dec 2011 11:26:25
Surprise surprise.. Pardew in August.. "we will save our money till January For a forward and also see what part of the team needs improving" now he says "we are not in the market for a new forward but work will begin for a summer target, we will make do". same old stories every year, seems MA more than happy to just be safe in the league rather than show any true ambition....

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Excellent

Agree1 Disagree0

Excuses priceless

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on we knew this was coming why you so surprised. Never been any intention to get a quality forward in ,Demba was a free and his outstanding form is more luck on our part than judgement by Ashley.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2011 11:24:52
Seen a few people link us with Moussa Sow from Lille and Papiss Demba Cisse from Freiburg (think we were linked with both last january aswell), but just seen that both of these are in the Senegal squad for the African nations cup, so I'd think that'd rule both of them out signing for us.

Alan Pardew has just said on SSN, No new striker to come in this window. Looking at 1 defender. OMG Hope this is a smoke screen and at least one forward comes in or there will be trouble ahead

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Nope, its not a smokescreen. This is the club managing expectations in advance of the window.
As I posted below, a defender (or two) is the obvious priority and because we've exceeded expectations so far, there's no rush to get a striker.

They may not be top-drawer but we have Best or Shola to play up top and HBA playing no.10 with Vuckic as back up for that position. However, looking at centre backs we have...er no-one! Its a no-brainer really.

Also, we'll probably get robbed blind in terms of transfer fee. Our need is obvious so we'll have to pay well over the odds.
