8 year contract for Pards and his staff surely is a good sign. Have to agree that long term stability is what the club needs. Onwards and upwards.

Got nothing against him but i think it's too long.
8 years is a long time, anything could happen. what if ashley needs to sack him come 2 years, pay 6 years of comp? just saying.

When he came in he got a 5 year contract and we had a 5 year plan (which we're ahead of) but does this mean theres now an 8 yr plan. Wel be self sufficent by then and deffinatly should have won something, adam campbell will be 24ish by then too. :)

Hope it has something to do with Ashley selling up.

That kind of contract and length just breeds complacency. Could be difficult to motivate yourself and show ambition when you know you're sitting nicely for the foreseeable future. Strange move in my opinion.
In addition, I always thought you got rewarded for success? Pardew ain't won anything yet!

He's won my heart x

To the guy who said it breeds complacency, that's a good point. But it could also breed confidence.

This could go two ways, we could push on and challenge for europe every year now, or we could slump to midtable.

We'll see over the next couple of seasons which.

Well thats our dreams gone of winning the league cup this season. Surprised that AP didn't play a stronger team, still we can take the positives from the man united game, we've finally got cisse back on form and we can focus on the next game. We should really try and go for the europa league i reckon, we look solid, although drawing against maritimo, we did play very well. I can't really see us winning the FA cup, but we just can't slip up against those 2nd or 3rd tear teams (Brighton etc.) but although those really tough teams in the europa league, inter, bilbao etc. we've still got a chance.

As long as we beat the Makums and finish higher than them, who cares what happens in-between ?

Weak comment.

For anyone you still rates obertan, please please watch last nights game. How this guy is a footballer at all is beyond me. With his pace he should be going past people easily yet all he seems to do is run straight into them.
