To help calm the stressed out bloggers, go look on the SKY transfer listing for premiership clubs that have taken place so far.Answer very little
Look at the players who have been transferred and ask which would you have wanted at NUFC?
Jordan Henderson? John Oshea? etc.
Dont bleat on about the names that the real liers(the press) in the transfer window claim as NUFC targets almost all will have never been considered I submit.(Crouch, Berbatov etc)
Unfortunatley these lies are taken as gospel by fans and just like Jose E , falling into the trap set by the media to cause dissent, resulting in headlines to sell papers, at the expense of the reputation of our club and its real supporters.
Fleet street hacks, who are in league with the Agents, and push their clients for them, rely on a ground swell, dont get sucked into calling for another rash of mercenaries in our club.
Calm down smell the roses we have been to hell when relegated, the future is bright the future is Black and White.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Well said sir. Obvious but needed saying. Too many doom-mongers on here. Not sure the hacks and agents are in league but they certainly have a mutually compatible agenda, I'll give you that.

We need to stop putting so much store in what players say or tweet. Get it into perspective - they're very young lads who have never had a proper job or existed in the real world. They don't understand economics and spend their spare time (lots of it) playing on their Playstations and yet we hang off their every word. Very few are as smart as Barton and even he is nothing exceptional outside of football. And again, he's only 28 and has lived a very sheltered life. Jose is basically a kid - he's not the messiah, he's just a very naughty boy Dom.

Love how pardew is fine to say Enrique has been told off but doesn't comment on what he said and if it's true so I have now lost faith in getting any decent signings this summer.. We could have had an amazing team with Carroll and Nolan staying plus the free transfers such as ba but how can we expect to get further up the table then last season when we let our team fall to pieces :/ I think a player like chamak would have been a perfect replacement for Carroll and I think arsenal would do a good price for someone who lost form in the second half of the season... Love the toon still

everyone getting excited about 2 players who 2 to 3 weeks ago where s**te when linked to sunderland. ho how time changes peoples minds good luck on crouch and defoe rumours as thats all they are lads

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The fact was sunderland never really had a fighting chance of getting where as newcastle with the money they have got are all viable options.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mackems seem to grasp at almost any straw. I don't think you'll find any NUFC supporters getting excited about Crouch or Defoe - we're just realistic that either or both might fill a gap and do a job if we can't get our real targets. Very much doubt that either are seriously being considered for more than a stop-gap loan on deadline day. If either arrive, we'll stifle our disappointment and support them because thats how it works. As the 'Stones said - you can't always get what you want. Dom.

Agree1 Disagree0

I think you wrong there as a few newcastle fans are happy about Defoe, The lad is right it's all bitterness and sour grapes when they linke with sunderland and when it's newcastle they are quality. So many Hypocrites in your geordie support always has been always will be. sad SGBS

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair enough - should have read "many" not "any"; small but important typo.

There will be some who get excited about a fairly big name like Defoe and I'm sure he's do a good job (in his own inconsistent way).

I think most of the fans will see Defoe as a decent signing but nothing to line the streets for. Whoever he signs for, he isn't mediocre but at 29 he's not really 'plan A' for us.

For what its worth (and not really wanting to start an argument) I can't recall being bitter or filled with sour grapes about any Sunderland signings in recent years. Saying that, I was annoyed that we didn't go in for Gyan and fairplay to Sunderland for taking the gamble quickly.

These debates are fairly moot at the moment because Toon and Sunderland have very different recruitment policies at the moment and we're unlikely to be in direct competition for players very often.

Dom.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair one mate, not wanting to argue either because it is pointless banter, Defoe is not worth paying 10-12m for and then £90,000 wages, honestly think it is so laughable when some newcastle fans saying you will sign Drogba, Berbatov, Podolski, they need to wake up, Ashley is trying to make money and make the clubs finances stable, can't see him giving Pardew 8-10m to spend on a striker. Some Newcastle fans are saying sunderland have no money to spend, it such a bitter theory, the money is there but Quinn and Bruce will not be held to ransom for players, I think we proved our intent by paying 8.1m for an 18 year old striker, if we didn't have money then we wouldn't of spent that amount. yes we just sold Henderson but I doubt we got 16m straight upfront and not to mention we signed another 5 players for money and got 3 quality free signings and I'm pretty sure we will sign a top striker and a left winger before the transfer window closes. Anyway season near to starting. may the best team finish as top dogs

Enrique wants to leave, so lets get rid of him. If no-one comes in for him, stick him in the stiffs for the remainder of his contract. Enrique has asked for 80 grand a week FACT. Is he gonna score us 30 goals this season? Lets look for a left back and two strikers and get the wagon rolling, give Barton a contract, he WANTS to stay here and is the born leader we require for another season of struggle. Until Fat Lad leaves the club, all we can do is support the lads through thick and thin, and our day will come when he either leaves with Lambias and Puppet Pardew CMON THE TOON, we are bigger than Fat Ashley, lets rise above him.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Let enrique go He not all that Keep barton cos he will always give you 100% and not let you down or go missing when he is needed like the little spanish wimp does I think its about time MA showed some transparency too and release the figures for the club into the public demain

NUFC Rumours:

Apparently, I read on THIS page that a deal for Erdinc is "close" to being completed. Well, I can add something to this, in my opinion it will be confirmed a week after the toon are back in the UK... I hope you all agree that this is useful information and NOT just jumping on the rumour bandwagon :) (I hope you have picked up on my sarcasm)

Other rumours:

Enrique will only move to Barca as they are the only team willing to pay the asking price. This will only happen if Fabregas DOESN'T move (as they won't have the funds if he does).

If Enrique doesn't move now, it'll be a cut price move in Jan (to anyone) or he'll move for free next year.

Chances of signing a new deal... 1% (and we'd have to give him £80grand a week with a MASSIVE payment to his agent)

In regards to a left back replacement, the £12mil or so we be held in a high interest account and Mike will make a mil or so on the deal extra. There will be no physical replacement, but there might be a BIG sale on at Sport Direct.

Editor, what's your opinion on the incomings/outgoings at the toon, any names to drop in?

My name is Mike Ashly owner of NUFC and I feel after weeks of listening to all the fans views, I shoud reply to your continual moaning and speculation of what you think and dont think is going on in MY club. These are the facts that you want answers to, firstly the money from the sale of Andy Carol as you have stated on many occations has not been spent on players, and will remain in my bank.Secondly there will be new signings but only if we sell players first, it stands to reason it is in MY interest to remain in the Premier league, It is also correct to say that I appointed My new manager Alan Pardew because he was cheap and I new he would defend my position through thick and thin on all topics, you must give me credit for the last few transfer windows, I mean when that old saying You can Fool some of The people some Of the Time but cannot fool All of the People All of the time, is in fact rubbish because you fans dont understand the way of big business, how much money do you think I have made in the past through following my gut instinct. Now if you accept what I have said then just think how much happieryou will be after all your sole job is to create the wonderful atmosphere that only Newcastle fans can.So please stop the moaning and the continual speculation on new signings.

Your beloved owner FAT MIKE.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Why oh why would you write such cr@p? Im pretty sure a billionaire owner can spell properly and write a paragraph in the correct manner and spacings, get off your backside and get a job stop writing such rubbish on our site you SMB

Thanks for clearing things up Mike.
Although it does leave me slightly suspicous how you cant even spell your own name :/

I'm taking a wild guess that this was meant to be tongue in cheek...the give away is the sign off "FAT MIKE" for those with a sense of humour bypass. I reckon the real Mike thinks he looks bloody lovely in the mirror

I thought it was quite funny anyway mate. The spelling mistakes only added to that. Dom.

Jose Enrique " I will wait to see if we are safe before I sign a new contract". Well we did stay in the premiership and you have been offered a new deal Seems to me theres more than the club telling porkies

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Nail.On.Head.
We all know Ashley and Llambias are liars, yet the majority of footballers arent exactly trustworthy either.
Footballers will do whats best for THEMSELVES.
Its not like Enrique could be trying engineering a move due to him getting frustrated because no one is coming in for him(yet), and in doing so he has probably unsettled everyone at the club and probably put off potential signings. Very selfish.

Agree1 Disagree0

Agree - like I said in reply to an earlier post below, its all about the money. The football just gets in the way of their shopping sprees. Does anyone really believe that Jose knows anything about NUFCs recruitment policies or that he actually cares? Don't be daft; have a word with yourselves. Dom.

Agree1 Disagree0

Again, Nail.On.Head.
Also annoys me how Enrique said we dont want to spend to bring in "quality" players. Thats pretty disrespectful to our team.
So he doesnt think Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Tiote etc are quality players?
Why does everyone think you need to spend £20 million pounds on a player for him 2 be quality?
£20 million on Henderson or £4.7 million on Cabaye? Cabaye any day of the week.
£17 million on Owen or Demba Ba for free? Demba Ba any day of the week.
Yes i want us to spend a bit more then we are sometimes prepared too, but a players price tag doesnt always reflect a players quality or value.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes indeed mate - Henderson...£20million or perhaps a full French international in Cabaye for a bit of loose change...thats a tough one. The only regret I have is that the Mackems are now £20m richer as a result ...Although they seem intent on squandering it on has-beens which is lucky for us. With the money they've spent, they had a real chance of top 6 but they've blown it. Dom.

KRToon. Love your posts, thank you for asking my opinion into the following:

1.. The US Tour And Season Prep, Good Or Bad?
Dont know where to start with this. Going half way round the world, pitches were not the best, couple of injuries picked up and now Enrique's rant must surely take its toll on the 1st team players. Add to the fact that we havent had a good performance or victory, I would say that its been a bad tour (so far).
2.. The Squad As It Stands, Season Expectations?
Two answers to this. A) We all seem to know that we need at least 2 more strikers in. I still believe a RB who can inflict a bit of competition for Simpson, A decent CB and I still think a right winger. But we need that goalscorer in sooner rather than later.
B) We will get in a striker, but if we do not buy anymore after that-taking for granted Enrique leaves and we replace him- I think our current squad will be too strong for the teams who have come up, and the likes of Wolves, Wigan and Blackburn. So we will be well safe. If we add a bit of depth to the squad, we could push on up the table and overtake the likes of WBA, S'land, Fulham and even Villa and also have a decent cup run.
3.. Opinion On Ashley And Plans For The Club
He sees the club as a business. Fair enough. But simply, the lies the man tells gets the blood boiling. The supporters are the customer and we want our money to go on signings, the sorting of contracts, like Barton. Enrique and Barton both said, they would sign contracts, If the club was to be seen to be going forward and class signings would be made. That clearly has not happened as yet. No good being in a good financial position but finishing in the bottom half of the table every season. Lacking ambition, is the phrase I would use.
4.. Transfer Activity And Signings, To Date And Future?
I was so optimistic that the £35m would be spent on 4-6 quality signings. Not free's. Big game players with experience, blended with youth. But in the back of my mind is why would this transfer window be different to any other? Nolan out- Cabaye in. Basically a straight swap. Kuqi out-Marveaux free. Campbell out-Albeid in free. Ba, is a good addition but I would like to see some of the Carroll money gone on a big name/up coming striker who costs a bit. £8-12M, with a decent pedigree and a name we know. So far then, mixed window. But if we can bring in another 4 players, the Club could have one hell of a squad.

We are so close to having a very strong team, but with Ashley in charge we seem a hundred miles away too We know a couple more in and we could push on- Why dont the club see it too?

All the above is my personal opinion. Thankyou all for the chance to reply, and heres to OUR club- Newcastle United. Sorry 2 more rants
1) Name the East stand after Sir Bobby
2) Get rid of the sportsdirect@st James Park Stadium name. Is, and always will be, plain old St James Park

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I agree with naming the Stand after Sir Bobby the man was a legend and a perfect gentleman who deserves to be honoured in someway by NUFC for all the good work he did for the club....SAFC Fan.
