As conteversal joey was i thought he was great when the chips were down and raised the lads, a real leader. My serious concern now is where that leadership will come from, the likes of nolan and him, and to a lesser degree Jose. Maybe im wrong but i think these 2 games is as good as it will get.... what do ye think?

Dictionary meaning of Leader
"person who rules,guides or inspires others" please tell me which of these JB brings?

I agree with the first post see him as a bit of a Roy keane, and his leadership which was alot of mouthing 2 and a fair bit of class aswell. i think we will only see when the sht hits the fan in games. best of luck Joey u repayed us + more in taking a chance on u.

Some help with the leadership concern.
Collo is leading by example.
Saylor will assist when the chips are down.Cabeye who was a captain at Lille will gradually emerge as the leader as his language skills progress.
This new look team is moving on from the scouse style leadership talents of Barton or Nolan.

Jb does not lead naturally. He leads with fear and his mouth with aggression. A good leader leads cos of respect and it comes naturally for them. Also a good manager will appoint a leader if he sees they are natural to this role and from where i am it doesnt look like JB was appointed Good riddance to the ego Good player but too disruptive for a "TEAM"

i believe the harper story, whilst on my stag doo in benidorm, kevin nolan who goes there everyyear in may said that eveyone wants out of the club because ashley wont pay money, weeks later he has gone, enrique has gone, barton gone, harper on way out,

Joey Barton will only sign for a club playing in the top 4 and in the champions league, or a smaller club as long as he gets £60k a week... I smell a rabbit of here, has Barton engineered a move all for more money. This wouldn't have entered my head until the name QPR came up...greed

Look at it this way if jb gets injured for nufc this week and its career threating then he only gets paid until contract ends..if he goes some where else and that happens then he gets paid the full contract if it was me i would go..just because he is a millionaire that does not mean you should work for peanuts..he has bills to and a family good look to him

With Joey's imminent departure, Newcastle should step up their interst in man United's Darren Gibson, as we were linked with him earlier in the season, and we need a midfielder with premier league experience, as at the moment the only good midfielder with prem experience that we have is Tiote, and he won't play every match this season, as its inevitable that he'll get suspended at some point.

alreet toon fans dont know about you guys but im sick of this fat man destroying our club i was just thinking today about that takeover bid that was failed 3 years ago just ponder this though 52.000 geordies want him out even more so how about each fan puts £200 quid in and with 52.000 fans at least that would be 104.000.000 (million) then we all bombard freddy or someone else to raise the rest and dont laugh im being deadly serious. toon 4 life maybe ed can stump up the rest lol

I expected around £20m max tbh, money kept for January maybe and then some of the loan owed to Fat Mike paid back... so if we sign a LB for say £5m and striker for around £7m, theres £12m plus Cabaye and Obertan makes approx. £20m... not saying I disagree or dont understand where you`re coming from lad, just playing devils advocate here for the sake of debate}

just a script from a financial magazine makes ye wonder where our money from the carrol sale, season tickets, merchandise, sky and parachute payments has gone.
While he may well be one of the greatest retailers of his generation, Ashley's performance as a stock market investor is mixed at best.

At the height of the credit crisis he was reported to have personally lost hundreds of millions of pounds betting that shares in failed bank HBOS would rise. Sports Direct's investment in rival JJB in 2008 also resulted in losses and more than a little acrimony, which eventually sparked an Office of Fair Trading investigation.

The investment in Blacks has fared even worse. Ashley acquired the stake when the shares were trading at more than 500p. They have since fallen more than 90pc to close yesterday at 13p. Sports Direct's paper losses now top £50m. No wonder Ashley is so angry.

Unfortunately his options are limited. With 21pc of the shares he could call an extraordinary meeting and attempt to oust Bernstein. But it seems unlikely that fellow Blacks shareholders – no matter how frustrated with their company's performance – would back him. The only beneficiary of even more chaos at Blacks would be rival retailers, including of course Ashley.

He could revive plans to bid for Blacks – which is, after all, how he ended up with the stake in the first place. But Ashley knows that the retailer's key suppliers, including North Face, would probably boycott an Ashley-owned Blacks, fearful that the "pile it high, sell it cheap" retailer would damage their brands.

So for the moment Ashley can merely stand on the sidelines and throw mud.

That takes guts, particularly as his own record of delivering shareholder value is pretty poor (although not quite as bad as Blacks').

Who could forget that Ashley cost his shareholders £200,000 when he resorted to using a game of spoof to settle a disputed bill – and then lost. And while shares in Sports Direct may have bounced back from a December 2009 low of 33p, they have still been a pretty poor investment for those who bought in when the company floated (and Ashley cashed out).

Over that period Sports Direct has underperformed the FTSE 250. In fact even with interest rates at a historic low, investors would have made more if they had stuck their money in the Post Office rather than Sports Direct.
makes ye wonder ed we all know he likes the casinos but this is a man who likes to get his own way and seems to have a gambling problem and it looks like his taking a gamble with the club what do you think ed he seems as though he has no mates

All details and stories and dealings aside fact is he is one of the very few self made billionaires out there and reason he has very little friends in business is because he is absolutely ruthless as most good businessmen tend to be. As far as the club goes, very hard to gamble on its future, in fact he saved it from such a scenario and has a good financial plan in place for future turnover and self sufficiency.. from a selfish point of view he uses it as a tool to promote sports direct.. and doesnt have much dealings whatsoever in the running of the club bar signing the cheques.. Derek is the man who looks after the club for him.. Newcastle is actually only a small percentage of his portfolio and he seems to be more personally involved in the retail businesses.. he does like a gamble but he makes more than he loses by the looks of things at the moment.. worth much more than he was when he took over Newcastle, in fact almost double.. once it stays on that trajectory I wouldnt be too worried}

Really don't see why Joey would want to go to QPR... He'll be on higher wages and will be in the first team for Newcastle. Then again, they have a chairman who actually cares about his club so.....

Because he has not been given a future at newcastle where at qpr he is guaranteed football for the next 3 or 4 seasons its a joke mike ashley can get out of our club.

Joey isn't the future Joey is the past.

Not bothered if Barton goes, in fact I think it will be a good thing. His delivery is poor compared to Cabaye and Raylor and he is always liable to get a booking. I also think while he is in Toon he will play and IMO Obertan is better out wide than he is, and we have Gosling to play in the middle.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Have you ever been to a game how can ye compare cabaye and raylor to barton one has played 2 games and never had a kick hope he has more to show and the other wouldn't get a game if enrique hadn't moved if ye do go to games do ye fall asleep

Everyone needs to calm down, just because Barton had a good game on the weekend it doesn't mean he has changed his colours. he was still on the free transfer list for a reason, if he is a cancer to the team... I for one don't want him. And if her is so good why is the only team even talking to him QPR? let him go and lets move on.

Barton leaving would be a disaster, he has been our best player for the last two games and now he might be leaving wise move Ashley. Remember what pardew said, 'Any player that leaves will be replaced' very much dought it considering Carrol left 8 months ago and is yet to be replaced. Going to the matches in the 70s and 80s everyone assosiated with the north east were called geordies but because of the rubbishe reputation that went with the name areas looked to distance them from the sgbs first boro decided to get associated with north yorks then sunderland became mackems and now when ye talk to anyone who follows any of the 3 now state they are neither mackems north yorks or geordies but simply the best from the lands of the prince bishops

No bud thats never happened to me, but one of my mates from sunderland always gets asked if hes a geordie on holiday, and he just goes along with it to be polite rather than just shouting at some random lol

Sunderland fan in peace, but think colocini will be next to valencia, ashley and pardew are screwing you lot over. I would be very surprised if you bring in more than one new player by the end of the window

7 days left until the window shuts, I'm still confident we'll bring in a quality LB and a striker before 6pm on the 31st.

The way I see it, most likely LB capture is going to be Pieters, £6 million will do the trick and this guy is a solid player, would be fantastic at the club. Would like to see R.Taylor remain in the squad, perhaps at RB giving Danny Simpson a bit of a run for his money.

As for strikers, I don't know anything really about this Maiga, in the ideal world I'd like to see us sign Bendtner even though it's increasingly unlikely this will happen. I know he's not to everyones taste but I think with regular starts and good service from Obertan, Cabaye and Marveaux he'd do a job, score goals and be a game changer.
