Would anyone agree that Stanton has the potential to be a great defensive midfielder. He can pass, he has pace, he can tackle, he is ok in the air and has one hell of a shot on him plus he probably would be better in that position than Tiote. Just an idea anyway

Jimmy1976

Believable0 Unbelievable0

A winger more like, too weak for a DM

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't see him being on the wing, but you never know.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he would be a cracking CM and would be better than Tiote who has been awfull this season. How many goals have we conceeded from Tiote giving away fouls. He is in the team to break up play but he cannot tackle and he has recently been trying to be a playmaker but he cannot pass. It is no wonder Cabaye is underperforming and is knackered as he is covering for Tiote all the time. Santon can tackle, can head, has pace, can pass, can go past people and can shoot.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im thinking Stanton could be like De Rossi

Jimmy1976

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think Santon is that good. Poor defensively, all one foot and no real skill - just cuts inside and uses his pace. Final ball and shooting not that good.

Agree0 Disagree0

Said the same a year ago and still believe the same today

Agree0 Disagree0

Lots of footballers only have one foot ask Bale to shoot with his right. Given Stantons age he could develop into a midfield role. The problem is you want instant results, sometimes you have to develop players!

Jimmy1976

Agree0 Disagree0

Disagree if Santon was too move position it should be as a winger he used to play as a winger and he said in an interview he loves attacking makes no sense playing him as a CDM to me.

Agree0 Disagree0

Zanetti is his idol, quite similar players really

Jimmy1976

Jimmy. agree what you say about Bale's Right foot - but ask him to shoot with his left. Read what I say about Santon's Right foot - poor shots & crosses. Bale is 23 - Santon 22 - when does he develop

Agree0 Disagree0

Bale was moved from left back when he was much younger, Stanton could develop in a new position, his passing is not as bad as you say, also Stanton clearly can take people on and he also has a shot on him. He can be developed into that role

just a thought but if newcastle are keeping pardew long term then we should get long term players in, young players with potential.
gk - alex mccarthy from reading
rb - tavernier
lb - haidara
rm - redmond from birmingham
cm - bigirimana
lm - ferguson
st - campbell
cf - vuckic

those 8 players with a few more additions will be an excellent team in 3-4 years time. 2 big strong centre backs and a tall pacey cm would be excellent.

Given most if not all of the 5 players signed in January were earmarked as summer signings, does anyone seriously believe the club has many targets lined up for this window.
imo, chances of early deals are minimal and this could be a frustrating summer.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I wouldn't be surprised to see up to 6 players come in along with a clear out

JMW

Agree0 Disagree0

I would not be surprised to see a clear out but I would be surprised to see 6 players coming in unless they are free transfers or for the development squad

Agree0 Disagree0

Some miserable sods' glasses are always half empty. Lighten up! Be positive! We're going to have a heat wave summer!

Right guys, now that alan par dews staying at least till december, its time for us to be positive, get behind him and start thinking about the summer transfer window. I think we are going to have a major clear out, even with some of our best players leaving to add more funds and profit. I reckon coloccini, tiote and possible Ben Arfa, santon and/or cabaye will all be on their way along with some youth and fringe players.

OUTs
Coloccini-San lorenzo
Simpson-Free
Harper-Free
Williamson-1m
Tiote-10m
Gosling-2m
Jonas-3m
Obertan-3m
Shola Ameobi-1m
Perch-1m
Possibly Cabaye 22m, Ben Arfa 26m, Santon 13m
Total of around 20-60m in

INs
Young Goalkeeper 1-4m
Young right back 2-4m
Joleon Lescott-4m
Jores Okore-3m
a young left back (Rose maybe) if santon leaves 4-8m
Mohammed Diame 3.5m
Scott Sinclair 5m
Younes Belhanda 9m
Aaron Lennon 10m (If ben arfa leaves or possibly a swap deal with spurs for lennon, 10m + lennon and rose for ben arfa?)
Pierre Emerick Aubameyang 11m
Charlie Austin 6m
Total spent: 35-58m spent (depending on who leaves)

I highly doubt that this will happen but I think we should at least get a few players of these but I reckon it would be a beast team even if cabs and benny left!

Debuchy M'Biwa_______Lescott Santon

Just a bit of fun :)

You serious most fans will never get behind this Championship (if that) manager.
Ashley is right it only takes a little time to forget the c. p served up this season no wonder other clubs fans call us fickle.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ten million plus lennon and rose for ben arfa lol but them two players are both better.

Agree0 Disagree0

How can he be championship quality manager if he got us to 5th? And rose and lennon better than Ben arfa? I don't think so.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rose, lennon, anita, marvoux some serious height problems coming our way! we need some height in our signings, not only small people are fast ask bolt! actually

Agree0 Disagree0

Aubameyang's 6ft 2 and lescott is a good header of the ball

Agree0 Disagree0

"most fans will never get behind this Championship manager". My god last season he was the best thing since sliced bread. Ashley is doing what he has done since day1, having a good cockney laugh at the Geordies, and he is getting away with it, tell me I am wrong. Mark-m.

Agree0 Disagree0

Need some height in the side, too many small players. You are a dinosaur mate. Small, technically gifted FOOTBALLERS have done Barcelona or Spain any harm.

Agree0 Disagree0

**** Danny Rose, he's had an okay season bt have many people watched every game he's played in. he'll be another Kieran Richardson in no time

Arsenal are willing to let Thomas Vermaelen go for only £5. I really think that would be a awesome signing. He is still a really good player and I think he will be a good repacement for coloccini if he goes.

Source: The Sun

Believable0 Unbelievable0

At that price, i'd be happy to stump up the cash.

Agree0 Disagree0

£5?! I might buy him, need a bit of help carrying the shopping in every now and then.

Agree0 Disagree0

£5? That would get you 2 Williamsons

Agree0 Disagree0

I won't pay more than £3 cash and a euromillion ticket

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd have Vermaelen, just because a player doesn't have a great campaign doesn't make him s**t, Bt bigger clubs are after him ie Napoli

Pardew is staying. so what we need now is some players with experience.

Siem De Jong would be a perfect player for us, he can sit behind a striker or in attacking midfield and runs into the box constantly (Apparently, none of our current players know it) and he can captain our side.

Wilfred Bony another strong striker who has pace and strength.

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, super quick and agile striker with crystal boots.

Thomas Vermalen, I know its not going to happen but he has got Premier league experience.

if Hatem ben Arfa leaves, we need a flair player like him. Maybe Belhanda or Iker Munain.

Just my thoughts.
iToon.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If we did make an offer for De Jong one of the first things he'll do is ask his former team mate Anita about us I doubt he'll get a positive report after the season Anita's just had.

Agree0 Disagree0

Here we go again AP worst manager in the Premiership wants 2 players to make his team a top 6 team
And we are speculating already for new players get a grip man.

Tablets are what is needed and men in white coats

The fans are helpless

Agree0 Disagree0

Tottenham may be wanting to have a clearout like us so lennon may be on his way, we need a winger, perhaps a move for him? exactly the type of player we need who has lightning pace.

Agree0 Disagree0

Worst news ever pardew the ponce is staying we will go down next season for sure

Agree0 Disagree0

To 5post, then you obviously aren't a true Newcastle fan. A miserable, negative person who will pluck anything out of the air just to have a pop at pardew. Get behind the team and be a real fan.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok Mr pardew

Agree0 Disagree0

This persistent whinging and moaning from the Pardew haters is getting very repetitive and boring. Here's my advice: if you hate the current set-up so much, then write to Ashley at SJP to say that you won't be buying/renewing your season ticket; go to IKEA on match days and look at soft furnishings, or ask an adult to help you colour in, whatever. When you start school, ask Miss how many useless managers NUFC have had. Do what you like, just stop posting the same old same old on here. Some of us are actually looking forward to the transfer window - this is a transfer rumours site, remember - and the new season.

Agree0 Disagree0

So everyone who hates Pardew is a child? So they are not adults who are entitled to an opinion? The only thing childish is your comment. If you don't like people having an opinion on here don't come on. I am also pretty sure this is the banter page. Dry yours eyes.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not children - just boring, repetitive, mainly ignorant and illiterate, plus depressing. And they all think themselves the best football tactician in the world. Any of you lot got their UEFA coaching badge? We've heard it all before, ad nauseam, and all of their posts are totally pointless, as Ashley certainly won't take a blind bit of notice of you lot. Neither should he. He's a very successful businessman who makes his own decisions. Ashley out! Pardew out! Llambias out! Old Uncle Tom Cobbleigh and all, out! Cox out!

Agree0 Disagree0

Coincidence or change of manager?

1. AP states he would like Carroll back.
2. Sky then report we have no interest in him.
3. At the same time Martinez asks for another 24 hours to decide what to do.
4. On the day Pards is meeting with Ashley and Llambias!
We can only hope.

Anyone who says Martinez got Wigan relegated seems to forget Pards got Charlton relegated and he has never won a trophy and never had a team that played good football, not even us last year. MArtinez would have Cabaye, Marveaux, HBA, Anita, Sissoko, Santon, Debuchy and even Obertan playing amazing football and with better defenders would not concede the goals that Wigan did, they only had a 3 goal worse difference than us last year when we have a defensive manager!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Amen to that!

Want Rafa or Martinez

Nothing personal against pardew but this season he has made a mockery of the team with his mickey mouse tactics

Agree0 Disagree0

Or rather his lack of tactics

Reported in Chron following clear the air talks Pardew to stay. for the time being. This is a mixed message if ever there was one.

He is either backed 100% or not at all. The team needs fresh blood IN THE FIRST TEAM not in the development squad.

Let Pards now get on with a fully committed board with the money to allow him to bring in the players he wants and we need. if things haven't improved by November then look elsewhere. Give a new man the time to see what he wants prior to the transfer window re-opening rather than bringing a new manager as it opens.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't see why people say give pardew till november/December, that's the worst time to get a new manager

Agree0 Disagree0

I personally would like to see the following arrive if we kepts all our decent players:

Charlie Austin
Scott Sinclair
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
If Colo Goes, either Mamadou Sakho, Douglas or Toby Alderweireld, Personally however I feel Lescott would be a sensible option if we put the money in.

Total Cost, Austin, 7MIL, Sinclair, 6. 5MIL, PEA - 10 / 12 MIL, Defender no more than 10MIL, Mty option Lescott, 5 / 6 MIL. Total topend cost 31. 5MIL.

PL class players with a mix of new / experinced players. I think add these to our current squad and we could be amazing next year.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No matter who we sign or let go Pardew cannot manage players and we will be a run of the mill team and the penny will drop with players we are trying to sign on low transfer fees and lower than average wages. Martinez built a team for 10m differnce is he can mange and coach. we do not that have that comfort.

Think cabaye, cisse, colo and Ben arfa will leave in the summer, if so my team, with new signings, would be

--------------krul-------------
Debuchy mbwia sakho santon
------Anita Diame sissoko-----
---remy bony audemayang---

The chances of this happening would be zero with current regime, nice to have a dream though.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That team has a nice balance of power and flair.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think you're a bit pessimistic regarding the leavers, but blimey that's not a bad team to replace them. Good taste.
