After Kamen We have some great young players but until we see them come through we can keep complaining about Ashley.
For me it seems to be the only part of his 5 year plan that is working.

Where is Biggy and Good who are 2 very talented players along with Dummet Ferguson Campbell Alnwick and the new bunch now being mentioned.

How a player who has had a most 1 great game and 2/3 OK games can command 26m or anything near that is amazing. Obviously something has or is going on and really not to long to wait to see if Joker Inear's jaunt has been worth while and why is he supposedly in Deutshland when we are negotiating in France
De Jong can be the only reason and if he cocks that up he should be hung up side down.
Can't understand the Cabaye saga as he can leave for 6m in the summer.
Not bothered if he goes or stays but we need a good replacement who is the fulcrum of the team

The thing that bugs me is we keep going to France when there is plenty of players in the UK who wouldn't cost an arm and a leg. Cabella is roughly 15 mil, why not go for Rodwell?

Agree0 Disagree0

Remember Ashley knows nothing about football & Joker is a fool so anything logical means nothing

Agree0 Disagree0

Rodwell would just be another Gosling.

Should be going for Will Hughes even if we let Derby keep him till the end of the season.

Should be loaning all the younger players out to championship teams anyway as aren't going to get in the first team this season.

Would use the Carling Cup and if we could get Europa league next season to bring the younger players through. That could be 10 to 15 high standard games to give them good experience. Letting them play reserve team games does nothing to develop them.

Art: there's an article on the Guardian site, by a lawyer, that more or less says the "Webster" buyout rule is very unlikely to stand up to legal challenge. When you think about it, Cabaye could (if this rule is actually operative) bought himself out last summer when Wenger tried to get him on the cheap. And IMO Cabaye is worth at least as much as Fellaini. If I was in charge, I wouldn't sell him at all - I'd offer him a new contract now. Believe me, we'll miss him if he leaves.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed Vic, cabs is our best player atm. It would be absolutely foolish to sell him in January. We need flair players like Ben Arfa, Cabaye and cabella if we want top 6

Agree0 Disagree0

Vic I read it & like the Eastam ruling it could be enforced or rather accepted & Ashley won't take any chances
Few weeks & we will all see as for best player he is good but has had a handful of meaningful games and is replaceable
He won't hang around Toon he wants some medals & he is not going to get any at Newcastle

Agree0 Disagree0

Art: If his contract allowed it, don't you think he would have bought himself out when Arsenal were after him? And remember, he's under contract for another 2 1/2 seasons - Ashley doesn't have to sell him at all. You're in a minority if you think he's not quality, or that he can be easily replaced. Think Jordan Henderson, £20m, or Fellaini, £27m, Ozil £42m. Chelsea want £37m for Mata, who can't get in their team. Midfielders as good as Cabs tend to come expensive!

Agree0 Disagree0

Does not matter what I think because like most I know very little but a short time will tell, logic says he is off but who knows.
Cabaye wants silverware & knows it will not happen at Newcastle I personally think a deal is agreed but when it happens is anyone's guess but U believe Cabaye will not be at Newcastle along with perhaps 2 other first teamers at the start of next season
If people remember the team did well when Guthrie stepped in and it will again when Cabaye has gone,

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Lewis Holtby would be a good replacement for Cabaye should he leave and would show his class playing week in week out, although he will likely have better offers.

Vida: what was that bet again? You say Cabs will move in this window, for something a tad over £15m? If he doesn't, or if the deal is nearer £25m, I win? If I win you buy me a bottle of Laphroaig (£33. 50 in Tesco) You win, I buy you a Gregg's pastie? I'll have to weigh up the risk carefully.
Seriously though, one question for you all - if Cabs goes, who will be our free kick specialist?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If Cabaye leaves this month which I doubt we should just bring Ben Arfa in him and Anita can take the set pieces.
Line up like this:
--------------Krul------------
Debuchy-Wil-Mapou-Haidara
----------Tiote-Anita----------
--Gouffran-Ben Arfa-Remy--
------------De Jong-----------

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Vic if Cabaye goals now he will bring an inflated price there is no doubt about that.
If he stays let's see, I don't know how you have done your bets before but if you are right like me you'll get possibly get a sausage roll from Greggs
The next 10 days should be interesting or will it just be another anti-climax.

Everton waiting for a work permit for lacina Traore, why aren't we going in for him? He's a striker and score goals, and has a fair amount of pace for his height!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He ain't much

Why can't we just buy REMY Cabella now and if they are adamant send them him or Ben Arfa back on loan until the end of the season?
