I think Newcastle need a big clear out, personally if i was manage i would do the following,
Sign Barton, Simpson, Enrique and coloccini with new deals.
I would then start the clear out with the following players leaving.
Sol Campbell Free
Danny Guthrie 2.5m
Wayne Routledge 1.5m
Jonas Gutierez 5m
James Perch 1m
Alan Smith 3.5m
Xisco 1.5m
Steven Taylor 3.5m
Shefki Kuqi Free
Selling these players would bring in an estimated 18.5m to add to the 35m we already have. Giving Alan Pardew a 53.5m kitty. I would then personally go and buy the following players.
All the players i have mentioned i believe are overated and good enough.
The players that i would bring in to replace the player departing, would be the following.
Jermain Defoe - 10m - Tottenham, great players but does not get his game.
Sebastian Larrson - Free - Great technique and pin point crosses.
Stephane M'bia - Free - Marsielle, solid defender.
Gervinho - 8m - Lille - Pacey, skillful and can score goals.
Balazs Dzsudzsak - 10m - PSV - Technically great, scores and assists. Great playmaker
Kevin Doyle - 6m - Wolves - Great effort every game, never stops running.
Stephen Ireland - 7m - Aston Villa - Skillful, good technique and an eye for goal. Needs to prove himself in the remaining games.
Buying 7 players in, spending total of 41m. Leaving 12.5m for January buys.
Leaving you with a starting team of the following,

Barton Dzsudzsak Tiote Gervinho
Ben Arfa

Krul, Williamson, Nolan, Larrson, Ireland, Doyle, Gosling

I believe this squad would be capable of challenging for Europe.

Lads we haven't got enough players so we need 8 players in. Our replaces for several players here
Martins(Ranger) Owen(Best) Carroll(no1) Bassong(Williamson no bad but you need 4 good centre backs which we have 3)
I say we Keep Ranger Ameobi Best and Airey and buy another 3 strikers(Gervinho Elmander and a goalscorer ).
Midfielder just a winger(Larsson) and Ireland perement.
Defencer a left back(Wendt) a centre back(resign Bassong).

I keep reading 6 or 7 players leaving for what ever reason and a list of 6 to 8 hopefully coming in. . . these numbers just don't add up. . nufc squad has been 4 players short all season plus 4 of the squad have been long term injuries before any body goes you need 4 in. . .and then you can start wheeling and dealing . . its a squad game in the prem you don't just need quality you need numbers that has been one of the bigest prolems this season lack of cover. . so if you get rid of 6 you need 10 in. . ED is Sow just having 1 good season just I had never heard much about him until this season? {Ed001's Note - I had assumed it was because he was just a kid that he wasn't well known until I checked. Some players are late bloomers though, but I hadn't heard of him before last season myself, or it could just be him being a defender he has not been getting hyped. I don't follow French football close enough to be sure I am afraid.}
