So someone disagrees and thinks its how much you spend that matters not how well you spend it :-)
Haven't you tried that before Michael Owen £100,000 aw plus one or two others who were heavy on the wages but light on the pitch, takes all sorts I guess.

sylvan marveaux is back in training. With sdj fit and obertan back firing the bullets for Riviere, who will stop us? no wonder charnley is in no hurry to make signings, blackpool cobbled a team together in a month

I always rated Marveaux but he never got a fair crack under Pards. He is technically very good, has great vision, pace and can score a goal. My only concern is his work rate which is easily fixed should he feel he will be given a proper opportunity.
Before he ruptured his thigh Obertan was playing really well last season, another who is technically very good, has pace to burn, an eye for a goal and does work for the team (most of the time) but yet another who was undermined by Pardew and had his confidence destroyed by Pardew's negative tactics.
SDJ is quality and if he can stay fit then he will be brilliant player for us next season.
I never thought we should sign Riviere, I just don't think he is a natural striker. His movement is brilliant but the amount of simple tap ins he jut completely missed getting anything on was staggering. If he could jut get his foot onto chances then he could be a good striker but to be hones the I one we should let go, I'd rather see Armstrong given more playing time.

those first 3 have a big IF about their injury records. hopefully new coaching and fitness staff will fix that.
I think Riviere is good, just needs lacking a yard of pace - mentally. If we can get him sharp and ready for the prem he'd be a very good 3rd choice striker for us. can't ever see him being a 20-a-season man though.

The reason we have fitness problems is because we buy cheap. A key part of a players potential is their build and bio mechanics. We get the cast offs no one else wants. SDJ is a prime example. A 12m player for 6m?

The solution is to buy better players, the lad from Everton has a terrific reputation. I watch rugby league and the lads play every week with really bad injuries and get walloped every where. Physically they can take it. Our lot are like a bunch of bairns
