I've actually got a good feeling about the city game, because we won't actually do a sunderland or QPR where you get 10 men behind the ball, because we actually have enough quality to go and attack top teams home or away. City play very narrow so if we constantly try and frustrate them and keep on switching the play, we might have a chance. You never know, plus city will be under pressure whereas we have nothing to lose. If pardew sets the team up right pushes the wingers up the field more, we could get a point, but i'm not going to get my hopes up.
So why not go for it?

If you struggled against Wigan, why do you think you'll be cruising against City? Typical Georgie baloney!

Agree5 Disagree11

Look mackem post, I've seen city play, and there's no reason why we can't beat them, even if we lose, we could try and make it so we were close.

Agree10 Disagree1

Thats a typical mackem post.

Worried about us again, why eben on our page?

you couldn't beat 10 men at home

Agree8 Disagree1

Man City are not up to much recently.

There is no reason we cannot beat them.

Are problems are not in defense as Taylor & Mbiwa are handling their business.

We need to get our teeth back in attack.

Marveaux is great as a sub but goes missing for 10 minutes at a time in games when he starts.

Tiote needs to be dropped, Sissoko pushed further forward again and Adam Campbell needs way more game time.

The last 2 games games Adam Campbell came on, the team scored within in 10 minutes and Campbell had a indirect hand in both goals.

Agree8 Disagree0

They could not beat 10 men at home twice this season I remember?

The mcmanaman tackle shows why you souldnt play players who aren't good enough. He was eager to impress on his prem debut and did something stupid, just because we wanted to make an impact. And he's scouse.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Just watched that tackle frame by frame mcmanaman does not touch the ball at all, whelan trying to say he won the ball first is boll. s it was indefensible and the wigan hierarchy ought to be ashamed of themselves for trying to cover it up Destoon

Agree4 Disagree1

Whealan comes over everybody's friend, but the fact of the matter is he is always getting interviewed, tell me another chairman who does? Should always be seen and not heard! What he had to say makes him look a compleat Buffon, how can anyone ever believe what he says again? Total crap coming out of his gob!

Agree4 Disagree0

They have a big semi final coming up and will be desperate for the lad to play, that's why they are trying to brush it aside. No respect for that club anymore I'm afraid, dreadfull attitude to take, pathetic rambling from Whelan on tv.

Agree1 Disagree0

Have to laugh at Whelan & Martinez saying it was not in his character, and people saying it was his first bad tackle.

WRONG!

He played against Man City reserves not that long ago, and he used a ''reckless'' challenge injuring a Man City player and got sent off.

(Not in his character eh?)

Agree3 Disagree0

Typical mag with black and white glasses on if you don't think mcmanaman touched that ball ye need to go to specsavers and no I am not saying it wasn't a bad tackle if ye tape and watch the championship after motd you will see 2 or 3 worse every week

The awful tackle and handball yesterday has hidden the fact we played terrible.
Sissoko is not a CAM all he does is pick the ball up and sprints with his head down not looking for a pass players like Cabaye, Marveaux and Ben Arfa would be better in that position with Sissoko moved back.
Also why do our players need atleast five touches of the ball before they decide to pass we should be moving the ball a lot faster than we are as we play to slow.
Why can't Pardew motivate our players for the first half? we always look lackluster and uninterested in the first half.
Gouffran is starting to look like a slightly better Obertan he works hard but is ineffective in the final third.
How many times did Tiote get caught in possession we need a DM who moves the ball on faster maybe Bigi.
If we get seven more points and win the derby I'll be happy I don't think we'll progress in the Europa league as Benfica are too good and will score goals there is no chance of us scraping through one nil over two legs against them.

After that tackle, McMannaman deserves to be banned for the next wembley game. Horrible little gobrubbish, I despise players that, after a tackle like that attempt to play on despite knowing that he's probably put Haidara out for the season. If he'd stopped and acknowledged what he's done it'd be easier to take. As it is, he's shown himself to be another player who only cares about himself.

Also as an aside, despite Halsey saying he didn't see the tackle, Cisse moved out of the way enough to see McManaman have both feet off the floor. Absolutely no control of that tackle. Whelan and Martinez have lost a lot of respect for defending it. He may not have a bad bone in his body, but he's thick as two short planks.

Good on JC for having a word with him at half time.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Supposedly he has done something like this before in a reserve game against Man City which resulted in a bad injury and he got away with that one aswell.

Agree1 Disagree0

Not the first time he's done it either he got Gai Assulin stretchered off after a wild Challenge by him in a reserve match with Man CITY, Gai went off with his right leg in a brace.

Agree3 Disagree0

The lino was a joke aswell. Happened right in front of him.

Referees and their assistants need to start being held accountable for their decisions (although I think Halsey has apologised for not doing anything about it). Just got to laugh about how this lad is going to miss the biggest game of his career. Just a shame it wasn't the actual final.

I think what made it even harder for us against wigan, is the whole talk of "the great escape". Everyone calls martinez a genius, yes he plays good football but look at his record this season! 3 home games won and like 5 away games won, TERRIBLE. Yet he still spends about 15m every summer! That's what ruined it for us! Also the referee was BS. How was it not a red card? Now we've got 2 injuries, very serious for Haidara and dunno about debuchy, hopefully he'll be fit for city.
We now have nothing to aim for in the league, apart from avoid relegation (Which we've pratically done) and win the derby. We are very good at home, but pardew does not know how to setup a team away from home! Why is he not playing 4-3-3 I don't know! maybe we should try 442 with proper wingers. I think we are discovering that pardew might be a one season wonder, unless he recovers our away form in the last few games and wins the derby and gets to the final or win europa. If he can't then we should look at other managers to take us forward:
-Harry redknapp, good manager, would like him. Ashley likes him, but I don't think redknapp would want to move to the north. + he like to spend a lot of money.
-David moyes, top manager, but top 4 clubs might want him.
-Di matteo, knows how to setup a team, doesn't play the best football, but very tactical.

Good to see ashley getting involved transfers and scouting. He went over to watch PEA (Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang) in St. Ettiene 2-2 PSG possibly also to watch mamadou sakho.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Just a ploy to get your season tickets early, before telling Pardew to tighten his belt.

Might have gotten some credit from the media if they were not obsessed with this whole 'Wigan escape relegation' nonsense every bloody year. People hail Martinez as a genius, but he shouldn't be there in the first place if he's so fantastic, despite his average team. Also the way he defends McManaman is absolutely abhorrent.
We were pretty shocking today, one of our worst performances, we have a stinking record at the DW and with matches like that it's no wonder why. Obviously the lack of a blatant red and volleyball goal decisions would have completely changed the game, but we should have bossed Wigan and we didn't really turn up. Sissoko wasn't at his best and Tiote was just appalling, some of the places that he gave away possession were just unbelievable - different player from last season. We cannot play like that against Benfica or we'll get humiliated. Nevertheless, we've had a great second half of the season, call this result a blip and look forward to City. Up the Toon.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I'm not sure I'd call the second half of the season great just yet. We had 20 points after 18 games (after we beat QPR) which by my reckoning means we've got 13 from the next 12.
I accept we're a different proposition now but 'great'?. Let's see how we do against Benfica

Agree3 Disagree0

It's all relative.
