Use our rumours form to send us newcastle transfer rumours.

I have to say that I've lost all respect for Brendan Rogers as a manager.

He's never seen Andy Carroll in a single training session and yet he's already decided that he isn't good enough.

It smacks of a manager who has a bigger ego than his players and has picked a fall-guy to stamp his authority on the squad.

Pride comes before a fall and I suspect that it won't be long before the axe falls.

Are Liverpool the new (old) Newcastle? The signs are there already - massive spending, lower than expected success, 3 managers in a couple or years...

Discuss.

I'm not sure it's down to ego, but i agree, he's not really observed the lad in training. He's brought in a familiar player who he's seen through the Chelsea youth squad and had on on at Swansea and appears to want to play a 433, which i think is the reason Liverpool wanted him, for the flowing possession football. Personally i find Rodgers' style of football boring and unproductive but it got Swansea some decent results. We all know that Carroll could be a great player if he's used suitably, but Liverpool don't seem to want to do, which makes me wonder why the hell they bought him in the first place? I also think Rodgers owed Swansea another season. However i'm more interested to see what Laudrup does for them with his huge network of football connections.

Liverpool definitely spending the money we used to but there failing to find chemistry and stars in there team. At least when we spent big we got quality they have bought over rated England players and are taking a gamble on them becoming England regulars so they can make some money. Prime example is the useless Henderson over spent over rated no where near the England squad for me. In my opinion Barry, Milner, Parker, Gerrard, Lampard, Carrick to name but a few are surely ahead in the pecking order. So no they are not like us because even with all the overspending they aren't achieving anything atleast we had CL and 2nd there still ages away from that. On the changing managers we can draw a parallel but we did have the great Bobby while we were spending the mega money. If I was a Liverpool fan I wouldn't be pleased with the way the club was developing and they are never gonna get near the league or CL for a good 3 years but possibly never with there current squad.

Agree1 Disagree2

My opinion is allthough i like gerrard i think he has to much power at liverpool in the dressing room and think they need to cash in on him now......liverpool are trying to do what nufc use to try and do they expext to make big signings that will make an imediate impact and as you know sometimes it takes a season or 2 to work and they panicking as the lost on out on champions league and sacked kk straight away..i dont rate kk think what he done in the 80,s and early 90,s was pure luck on his part...he came to the toon and inherited one of the best attacking teams i,ve ever seen (on there day) and dismantled it within one season and we have been on a down ward spiral except for when sir bobby came and now pardew...liverpool might just struggle to many big time charlies ...

Agree1 Disagree0

Liverpool are indeed becoming the club that we used to be.
We sacked Bobby Robson after we finished in a position that at the time was deemed unacceptable (re; Rafa Benitez). Was replaced by a manager that had been succesful at a smaller club the previous season (Us Souness, LFC Hodgson). When the two new managers failed to be a success, after spending a money on rubbish (Owen, Boumsong, Luque / Poulson, Konchesky, Cole, Meireles) they were sacked, to be replaced by a manager that had previously been involved at the club (Roeder/Dalglish). Whilst they were an initial success steadying the ship, the following season they had bad seasons and were sacked. Finally being replaced by managers from smaller clubs that wanted to stamp their own mark on their new club, and dramatically change the style of play (Allardyce / Rodgers).
So, following this logic Liverpool will struggle again this year, and be relegated the season after. Hears hoping.

glad to hear there's no chance of krul leaving now. he's returned to trianing and has been given the number1 shirt!

Believable8 Unbelievable0

Was there ever a chance he was going to leave? Krul has been with us since the last time we were in Europe. He is a lifer.

There are reasons why we shouldn't sign Carroll;
1) this deal will blow our carefully constructed wage bill
2) Carroll is a player who thrives under support, he will have not as much support as before therefore likely to under perform
3) Carroll is also a very dominant figure in the dressing room who goes out partying most of the week possibly ruining the great team spirit which carried us so far last season
4) the Ba and Cisse combination is one of the best in the premier league..."if it ain't broke don't fix it"
5) finally I personally prefer de Jong to Carroll and if we were to invest in a new striker it should be him, his price will only go down after the euro hype

Believable5 Unbelievable5

Of Course Carroll would get massive Support, He is one of our own and did not want to leave in the first place. People need to find out the facts before they moan about Carroll earning the club 35 million.

Agree2 Disagree0

We want players who want to play for us. He would rather go to Germant for more money where as Carroll wants to play for us and will always give 100%

Agree1 Disagree0

Do you not follow sport news mate ?.De Jong never had any intention of coming to us ,always wanted to go to Munchengladbach . A total non starter and all the time watching and scouting and they never thought to ask him if he fancied Toon and PLover German footie!.

Agree1 Disagree1

Firstly, where does it say that we would need to offer him what he is getting paid at Liverpool. If he wants to come back, he will need to take a drop in wages, to a level others in the squad are getting paid.
Secondly, if he gets his head down, and concentrates on his game, he would be an excellent player that the fans would get behind (the 2 are hand in hand).
Thirdly, there is no reason to break any partnership up. There will be plenty of games that they can all play (its not 11 players anymore it's a squad game.
And lastly, De Jong does not want to sign for us, he wants to go to Germany. Give me players that want to play for us, not just look for a pay day.
Rant over.

I can foresee an akward moment if we sign the big AC what shirt number do you give him because I wouldn't take 9 off Cisse and him being local I think it would mean more to him. I know some people don't care about #9 but I think it can definitely effect peoples perception of a player and the players confidence.As the strikers are automatically compared to the previous holders of the shirt for better or worse. So my question is do you think #9 is important and would you give it to AC ? Ed to start us off ??? Whitleytoon {Ed013's Note - Give him the 99 shirt!}

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Andy carrol is not a big enough player to come back and demand the no.9 shirt back like shearer did with ferdinand in 1996......if he comes back he will get what he,s given......k

Agree4 Disagree1

No chance - Cisse has earned that shirt if AC comes back he starts again, from the bench.

Agree5 Disagree0

I have heard he'll get the 24 and Tiote gets Guthries old no.

Agree0 Disagree0

Give him the number 35 shirt!

Agree5 Disagree0

I think 69 would suit.

Agree2 Disagree0

Number 11 will be available and was worn by the Legendary Asprilla, I am sure Carroll would not want to take anyone elses shirt anyway. So long as he is home and enjoying his football it makes no difference.

Agree3 Disagree0

I think shirt numbers wont be anyway near the top of his list WHEN he comes back, the higher the number on the score sheet will be all that counts to him

I am a Liverpool fan and I, along with the majority of LFC fans want Andy Carroll to stay at Liverpool. Also, i have to ask how so many of you can be completely horrible towards him but as soon as the club show an interest in him all is forgiven and you love him again? Does anyone here remember the game at St. James Park last season? Because I certainly do, the booing, the abuse, the shirt which said "Not Worthy". Disgraceful. I believe that Andy Carroll will not return to Newcastle for that exact reason, you were his boyhood club, he loved you and wanted to stay. Pardew, Ashley forced him out the door as the offer was too good. But you destroyed him that day, however he pulled his socks up and since that day every game he has played he has been superb.

I think Andy is a great lad and I hope wherever he is he bangs the goals in and oges on to become a star. Whether thats with Liverpool or another club. However, I am afraid that Newcastle don't deserve him. It is YOU who is "Not Worthy"
KiwiRed

Believable3 Unbelievable7

I dobt want him back, that dive in front of the toon was disgraceful! Sherarer, millburn, etc would have never done that

Agree4 Disagree3

Carrol was not forced out. He had just signed a new deal. If he really wanted to stay he would have. At the time Ashley's favour at the club was at an all time low so he was in no position to challenge or try and force him out the club. He left for the money.

Agree6 Disagree4

Liverpool fans say he's crap all season then as soon as there's interest in him you love him. You lot are like infants who only want their toys as soon as they're being taken again from them.

Agree5 Disagree2

Give over man. The lad helped us and himself out financially by going to Liverpool. He's on 80,000 a week or more. Let's not get all emotional about it. You lot were silly to pay such an amount, and now you're blaming the Newcastle fans for his lack of form? Ever think it's more than just having your native fans boo you? How about the system being played? Or the pressure of being the 35 million pound man? I don't imagine Andy was that unhappy and low when he banged in the goals towards the end of the season. Maybe he forgot about Newcastle those days?

Agree3 Disagree1

I personally disagree...i think pardew wanted to keep him but who can blame ashley for taking an un-refusable offer for a very good english player who will only get better( well not if he stays at lfc as they dont play him right)...think lfc fans need to concentrate on there own team...no champions league etc think rogers is well out of his depth and yes swansea played well but some times managers who do well with very little really struggle when they have a big budget to spend and unfortunatlly you never get to long these days....the biggest mistake LFC have done is they should of waited as rednapp became free and has plenty of ability and player pull unlike rogers.....time will tell but lfc are now known for paying well over the odds and selling for very cheap a season later just look at keane....

Agree4 Disagree0

I'm sorry kiwired but u are clearly just trying to get a rise out of Newcastle here, come here on your high horse spouting about disgusting begaviour, u think he's a great lad? Know him personally do you...

Agree1 Disagree0

I never blamed the Newcastle fans for his lack of form. In fact I said after that game he was superb, so in fact you were the catalyst for his return to form. And he is not on 80,000 a week either. He is on 60,000 plus performance related bonuses.
KiwiRed

Agree1 Disagree1

If u were linked with getting Torres back you'd do the exact same.

Agree2 Disagree0

A few facts some people should realise before they go attacking Carroll.

1. He did not want to leave. (Look it up before you disagree)

2. He earned the Club 35 Million.

3. He could have scored for Liverpool against Newcastle but somehow fell over (Seriously guys, Did you want him to score against us? Really? He could not face scoring against Newcastle so he went down)

4. Has already indicated he would jump at the chance to return to the club even though some fans did give him abuse.

I hope Andy Carroll is aware that most of the Newcastle fans support him and are aware of the above facts, There will always be numpties who do not know the facts in every large group of people.

Agree1 Disagree3

And the fact that Krul could of been sent off that day.Was that in his mind also when he "fell over" ! Having said that Iwould have him back anytime, but lets be real here ,it was a dive .

Agree3 Disagree0

:( my post has less point after you edited it .... Although I can see how that could have also been a costly statement !!

Agree0 Disagree0

You keep saying he didn't want to leave. He had a new contract which is a legally binding document. The only way he could have been forced out is if Ashley had paid it up and threw him out and that is the only way..IF he wanted to stay he simply had to say I am staying end of argument.

Agree4 Disagree0

I am not sure how blind some people can be, If Carroll was contracted that means it was more difficult for Carroll to leave not the other way around.

How do get from Carroll having a legally binding Contract to Carroll being able to find a club thats willing to pay 35 Million for him and Carroll being able to force Newcastle to sell him.

Seriously, Think about it. Its not rocket science.

Carroll has a contract so Newcastle just have to turn down any offers and keep him, Newcastle did not even need to tell Carroll an offer had came in.

Try doing a bit of research before you go publicising opinions that can harm the club or its future transfers, Its people that spout off rumours about Carroll being a judas that gets half of the Newcastle fans whipped up with the same wrong opinion and next thing we have a good loyal player left out in the cold when he did nothing wrong.
