Great, now sunderland wants erdinc, instead of developing their network, they are sending scouts to watch our scouts. . . iToon

Believable6 Unbelievable2

Personally I dont see the need in Aly Cissokho, other than for back up really. Santon is playing very well at left back, whilst Danny Simpson has been one of our most consistent performers, starting every single game for Newcastle this season! What do you think Ed?? {Ed001's Note - Santon is right footed and better on the right, Simpson, while playing well, is not top class.}

nufc are only 3 players away from being a top team who can seriously challenge the top 6.left back, right mid and striker,if we can get cissoko then get him that gets us 1 step closer,as regards a centre half williamson/taylor to partner collocini thats fine by me as long as we can get a young lad in as cover cos perch is a liability...del

Believable1 Unbelievable0

We can play Marveaux, Jonas or Ben Arfa on the right wing if their all fit.

Agree0 Disagree0

If thats a good team ye watched on sunday then ye heads full of mad dog s**t 3 players away ye might have 3 good players

Agree0 Disagree2

And you have no good players smb

Cissokho would be a great signing, but we have a tight ar5e owner

Believable1 Unbelievable5

16 Jan 2012 20:55:18
no what i mean is if we only have a reported 8m kitty why would we spend say 6/7 on a lb when its not really a urgent issue as a cb or st is? I agree cissoko is class but he still be there in the summer prob at a lower price as lyons finances are dire. Cant believe shaqiri is about to sign for galatasaray for a minimal €8? Hes class (WelshToon)

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Can't say I know the answer for sure but I'd guess that any money spent on Aly Cissokho would be in addition to funds allocated for a centre back (although I don't think Benalouane is very expensive). However, It will almost certainly mean less money to spend in summer.

I can only assume that they are trying to get the deal done now while the competition is lower (Arsenal and Liverpool no longer interested but who knows who will come out of the woodwork in summer?) and Lyon are in need of money.

On Shaqiri, I admit I've only seen him play twice but I wasn't very impressed. He's quick and a real live-wire but his first touch, awareness and finishing aren't all that. The sort of player who beats 3 men and then blazes over the bar into row z when 2 team mates are in a better position. Just my opinion based on limited watching.

samba has handed in a transfer request , imagine that ..
santon samba colo cissokho

now that will be a top four .. back four !!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

S Taylor is better than samba. More heart and fight

Agree4 Disagree1

Id agree with that statement! S taylor is every bit as good as samba! was having a cracking season til injury put an end to it!

Agree2 Disagree1

Steven taylor and collo had the best record and partnership of any this term until the injury hit which was a big shame cant wait to see them back in actions would rather see someone younger tha samba come in are maybe start to give kadar a chance seen him on a few good ocations and this has the qauilty to be a top player

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats all it will be IMAGINE cos he wont go to nufc he go to proper top team

Agree0 Disagree0

That rules out the mackems then!

its true iam from wales and south wales to a city called Swansea.(happy for them yest with the result only coz it keeps arsenal close to us for the 5th spot) and i do make games i was at the man u batterin few weeks ago (thoroughly enjoyed) big up the jury inn gateshead where i stayed i held the bar up! I tend to make alot of away games 5 this season (villa, wolves, stoke, utd, liverpool) and good games lost 1 i think im lucky. Its a costy hobbie but i try my best so i apoligise if i do watch the odd game at home or in a pub didnt realise it makes me less of a fan! (WelshToon)

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Ye right mate half the people who write on here have never been to any games home or away

Agree1 Disagree0

Like i said earlier not every fan can fit in the stadium and not every fan from newcastle! But its fans like yourself who follow the team anyway that makes football a global brand and newcastle an international known team! Keep up with the away games welshtoon!....spenny mag

Agree1 Disagree0

Same mate i regurlaly post on this site but barely make any matches because its a 350 mile drive 7 hour journey but im more of a fan than those slating other fans. How can we have a go at each other we support the same team.

Agree2 Disagree0

I also post all the time and live in bristol. Have followed the Toon for over 20 years and as i am a full time carer to a profoundly disabled lad (my lad ) i find it impossible to get to ANY matches but does that make me any less of a fan . Kim.

Teams at the top of the table have to grind out results sometimes and although it wasn't pretty (bar Best's goal) we did that yesterday.

My assesment of the team is this, Colla, Simpson and Guthrie need to be tied down to new contracts. Theie performances have warranted it and unless they are making Cahill demands this has to be a top priority.

Santon has looked quality last couple of games and I reckon Inter may rue selling him by the end of the season.

Williamson has filled in well but we defo still need an additional defender in this window. I think that Ridgwell is the no brainer, can play left back/centre back, not too expensive and prem experience.

Shola was infuriating me yesterday, no urgency about his play, lazy and at the end of the day is goals per game ratio is not good enough for this level, we need a new striker. Best is good and his goal was class but I'm not sure about his fitness and always seems to take small knocks?

All in all we should be happy, as long as nobody is sold this month.

Geo

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Shola's been a good squad player but if we're going to kick on from here, he's got to go in the summer. too many injuries and struggles with fitness. hasn't even got 50 league goals for us yet. we can't let him him end his career here, he doesn't deserve a testimonial. lol.

Agree2 Disagree1

Santon is class, and jonas put another shift in. What was the crazy formation we were playing? Best on the left wing and Shola up top on his jones? We did not create enough for me. We needed both big men in the box at the same time to cause issues... Pardew will sort this for the next match though...

Agree1 Disagree0

It was supposed to be an unorthadox 4-4-2 but allowed best to drop back into midfield and exploit the opposition with his pace but also push up and support shola when possible.

morning lads! Not a gr8 game yest but enough to get it done. Guthrie was quality as to williamson. Ray wilkins was the worst commentator eva heard bias to his cockneys and talked bull all game! But it was there to see we need a striker shola was pants and besty (gr8 goal) is becoming inj prone sure pards can see it and hba has to start for me and to much being looked at in his defensive effort we want him create not def so balls to tha (WelshToon)

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Typical geordie not attending the matches rather watch it in a pub with a pint of brown ale

Agree0 Disagree6

Can you read? it says right there at the end of his post, WELSHtoon. Now i dont know him, but im willing to bet that that means he comes from wales, which at it's closest point, is 200miles from Newcastle (probably kicking on at least 300 if he's from south wales) and that's one way. I only know this because that's the journey i have to take whenever I can get hold of tickets.

Agree2 Disagree0

Your ight about the commontator! he sounded just like micheal caine! i wasnt at the game but that cant be knocked really like the guy has done to welshtoon cos the stadium only fits something like 55,000 in and im sure theres more than 55,000 fans so at least some have gotta lose out! no good slating someone for not being there when there is more fans who cant go than there is who can!

Agree3 Disagree0

Ot really that mate, but the fact that when i drive up from wales, it costs about 120quid in petrol for the entire journey, 70quid for 2 tickets, bit for food, programmes, something from the club shop maybe. easily goes above 250 quid for one afternoon, which, while its definitely worth it, isnt something my missus is keen on -(a different)welshtoon

Ignore the mackem son, typical clowns can't fill their ground at all
