I've heard that the chelsea are offering benayoun in the tiote deal but toon are also holding out for Sturridge on loan.
Would save Ashley a few quid on getting in another striker and a nice profit from Tiote fee too. Only thing being benayoun age and wages along with strrridge wage contribution.
Sturridge's relluctance to join could hold up deal or scupper it all together. Looks like there is a lot to be sorted out in 2 weeks to get to an agreement.
Barton would slip into the DM role with Marveux or Obertan to play RM. (Benayoun also capable of playing on the right)
If this is true, I'd initially be annoyed we let Tiote go, but it would give us a quality striker to boost our attack and I think Benayoun is a useful player, whilst also generating more funds that could (hopefully but probably not) be put towards a permanent deal for Sturridge should he succeed and hopefully 2 more faces before the end of the window.

whoever said this about scott parker is absolutly spot on

I see him staying at West Ham because all he does is run around in circles doing the parker Turn which is exactly why we sold him.

also i would love to see emre back at the club, i think he would work well with joey barton

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Lol the parker turn. this topic was brough up just the other day among mates ha

Ed out of Pieters, M'Bengue & Cissokho, which one is the best LB at the moment. Also which LB is most likely to join. Cheers

{Ed042's Note - In my opinion Cissokho is the best at the moment, much of a muchness between the other two and both very good players, Aly is class act on top form though, most likely to join is Pieters}

safc 0-2 nufc, my prediction.

Believable6 Unbelievable2

After your performance against arsenal, I think Barton or Tiote will get sent off against us, sunderland will win 2-0 or 3-0,can't see you scoring, Ba was crap against arsenal and ameobi ran around like a headless chicken.

Agree1 Disagree3

Same old same old, ya thought ya would do us last year you clowns and look wot happened, out played,out matched and no bottle, ya deserved nowt oot of both games.

Agree5 Disagree0

Well that's Ameobi 4 u. rubbishe against top quality opponents, but put him up against mackems and he DESTROYS.

Agree0 Disagree0

And you lot got ground into the dust by pool who was only missing goals. You got a lucky but well taken goal after getting walked past most of the game. Toon to win by the odd goal and both barton and tiote to stay on the pitch. You lot will be out to try and make sure your not done in again so will be cautious so the fans dont get on the teams back. Pressure on you and its a killer

Agree0 Disagree1

With no replacemnet left back and striker coming in, think you lot are getting your hopes up. you may of looked decent in midfield against arsenal but had nothing going forward. Brown will have shola in his back pocket and Sessegnon will run rings around cheating scumbag taylor. honestly see a narrow sunderland win 1-0 or 2-0, at your place I think we will draw 1-1

Agree1 Disagree0

Sorry replacement that was meant to say before somebody questions it

Agree0 Disagree0

I think in the future people shouldn't question mistypes, as we all do it and it's annoying having to correct ourselves after, for fear of abuse.

There is only 1 ED covering all the clubs pages

On your rumours page your fans and gers fans are arguing 1) about jelavic and 2) tit for tat nit picking over whose team is best.
I am a Celtic fan but have to say newcastle are the perennial underachievers even when you had millions to spend you still won nothing, give Celtic your premier league tv money and we would be top 4 at least with our worldwide fan base. hail hail timalloy

Believable4 Unbelievable5

Should not take drugs mate its affecting your brain toon1

Agree3 Disagree1

Mid table at best, samaras is your star striker, enough said

Agree3 Disagree1

Your not even top in your league so how would you really fare in the with the real big boys? Not good to be honest

Agree2 Disagree1

Not one of you man enough to put name to your posts really brave Will watch you in championship next season LOL Timalloy

Agree1 Disagree2

Nahhh ur right not man enough, celtic still s**t tho :P

Agree1 Disagree1

Face it mate yous wouldnt be in the prem lge you would be championship at best ,ya fan base might be good,but theres only to teams in scotland to pick from when theres 20 proper teams in england so jog on back to THE JOKE LGE {Ed007's Note - Obviously you think because SKY throw money at your league it makes it the best in the world. Apart from the 'big' clubs the rest of the EPL is a bit dross TBH. Who really would want to sit and Newcastle v Wigan on a Monday night when there is a documentary on painting water colours on Sky Arts2? The smaller clubs like yourselves are afraid of the power CFC and Rangers would have after a few seasons in England. Both clubs history and credentials puts us well above EPL mid table teams when it comes to the bigger picture. Would Newcastle even be asked into talks about the idea of a Euro Super League? The box office draw of CFC and Rangers puts them well above mid table/relegation fodder in the EPL. How many Euro trophy finals have Newcastle been to in the last 10 years? CFC and Rangers have one each, not bad for a pub league eh? We look forward to big Euro nights, not just playing local derbies (which you could do with some practise at), we might punch above our weight, but at least we are in there fighting rather than just accepting mediocrity like your club.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Two things: ed7 rangers and celtic are practically given the chance to play cl or el football every year cos the rest of ur league isnt great. I bet if newcastle or even sunderland got that chance they wud get pretty far/ do pretty well at some point. dont forget that middlesborogh got to the el final aswel where they now. Secondly. does it not show that even with the millions thrown at teams in the epl as you put it. Teams are still struggling to compete with the top 4 - 6. dont kid yourselves you would have the same problem. I dont even know half the teams in your league, never mind wanting to watch one of their games, before you go on about how boring the epl is. And quite frankly newcastle wud win the spl with the team they have now. {Ed007's Note - Even with the team that Rupert Murdochs money helped you build which gives you a head start I doubt NUFC would threaten CFC or Rangers. Maybe you could offer Kilmarnock £10 million for a reserve player, that would still leave you a £25 million profit on Carroll that will keep your NUFC diehard owner happy. In comparison to Scotland. NUFC are about the level of Dundee (not Utd just Dundee), spend a couple of years in the main league as cannon fodder then get relegated, sell their halfish decent players to pay the bills then get promoted with good youth players that they can sell on again to keep afloat and strive for the days of past glories, and harking after old heroes and 'the good old days'. Compare the pressure of the managers, a need to win year in year out, the nonsense off the field, expected to win every week but keep composed in the public eye to..........Kevin Keegan!!! All because AF said naughty things about you!!! One of the most memorable moments EVER in your clubs history, Rangers have a world record number of League titles and CFC were the first BRITISH club to win the European Cup. Both clubs histories cements their place in footballs upper echelons and again, you will always have Keegan keeping you in the Top 10 of footballs funniest moments.}

Agree0 Disagree2

Even kenny miller turned rangers down to go to a poor championship side... Now that says it all so jog on

Agree2 Disagree0

It is interesting reading these deluded Rangers/celtic fans reel off all the titles they have won etc etc. Lets face it, there are only 2 real teams in that league. If the other teams were to play in the English leagues they would struggle in the Championship, and League 1.
The 'Big' 2 teams in Scotland would be (with current teams) Championship/Bottom of the Prem. If you honestly think that you could compete with the likes of Man U, City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, you are very much mistaken. Even with Sky money teams struggle to try and keep pace with that group. Remember, you would not have Champions league money either as you would be no where near the top 4. A large following does not guarantee you success, we should know.
A perfect example of how different the two leagues are is Martin O'Neil. Could not stop winning things in Scotland. Moved down to England to a club with more money, and could not get into the top 4, or win a cup (skinted the club in the process).

Agree1 Disagree0

Some of the players yous have playing couldnt do it in crap prem teams thats fact:stokes, and that kid from derby and many more ,bomsong running the show up there,we bring him down here and he is out his depth a was at the game when he first played for newcastle after 10 mins a could see the fear on his face.

Agree0 Disagree0

We could buy a club for 10million in that lge never mind a player

Agree1 Disagree0

Gosh Them Jock's get a bit upset when their rattled don't they lmao. Celtic or Rangers win the league every year that's why they have the "History". This allows them entry EVERY season into a european competition, giving them the chance to do well now and again. The European cup wins that they achived are now in the past, Celtic and Rangers sign cast offs from the Premier League. Prime example Fraser Forster 3rd choice at NUFC 1st Choice at CFC

Agree1 Disagree0

Ed7 - surprisingly even as an administrator/ moderator you are as deluded as the rest of the celtic/ rangers fans, the fact your argument completely sidesteps the issue of how your current squad wud fair in the prem (poorly) and instead focus on the era of kk and things that havent turned out well in the past is a joke. Face it you cant prove your point, all your doing is goin for a cheap shot at newcastle because your running out of excuses. And by the way, for such a rich history, rangers couldn't even beat an unknown Swedish team in the qualifier of cl, which shows there European prowess is well and truly in the PAST as you put it. oh and Motherwell are top of the SPL...BIG team?

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm a mackem and listening to you slagging the geordies off is quite funny. Newcastle are bigger than you'd ever be and it isn't hard to have a world record number of league titles in a league of 2 teams. Get a reality check before you reel your rubbish off about any EPL side or even Championship.

not a newcastle fan but i have to know hou do you feel about bartons comment to shearer?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's his opinion. My opinion is Shearer is a rubbish pundit, he is going bald/is bald, and he looks like his mum dresses him. Can't disagree with anything Barton said there, still love shearer the player though......a real legend.

Agree4 Disagree0

Barton said he was wearing a horrible shirt...He was.
Disgusting shoes...Correct
Slaphead....He's almost bald
But thought Shearers comments were alright and unbiased on MOTD.

Agree2 Disagree0

Shearer has to be seen to be neutral on MOTD when talking about NUFC but sometimes he trys too hard to show he has a neutral opinion. When it comes to barton he is 100% Biased against him and always will be. This is from a fan of the great man.

Agree2 Disagree0

Barton is a person anyway

Some peoples rumours aren't even rumours they are just statements, right ill give it a go then.

Newcastle looking at several players for both striker and lb positions, should be wrapped up within the next week, or if not, then a bit longer.

100% fact

Believable6 Unbelievable1

What is your source?

I've heard that if we don't sign anyone today, then we may tomorrow, and if that doesn't go through then the day after, or the day after that.
My source has also stated that if we do not sign anyone before 1st Sept, then we will not be signing anyone else this transfer window.

Ed can you update me on the striker and left back situations please?
Who's are number 1 target for left back? Pieters or Cissokho?
Also who's are number 1 striker target?
Bendtner, Maynard, Maiga?

{Ed042's Note - Replace Maynard with Rodallega and they would all be the main targets mate, impossible for anyone bar Pards, Llambias, Charnley or Ashley to say which one is the number 1 target given the luxury}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cheers Ed.

Ed- This casino rumour about pardwew getting the job because of a debt to lamearse, do you know if there is any truth to that story? Great work keep it up

{Ed042's Note - Its hearsay, and not something I would like to speculate on one way or the other to be honest mate sorry.. regardless of reasons why he may have got the job actually think he is doing a decent job and should be given a chance, always tough being a manager with limited control, what do others think?}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

As a manager myself (not in football sadly) i find that people who generally gripe about bad management are either working under the said manager and dont like the authority they have over them and that they get more wages than them and seem to have an easier day which is not generally true or its down to the fact that they feel the manager is there to be shot at when things dont go their way The latter is what seems to be happening to AP at NUFC. The man is trying to do a job on limited finances and under very harsh conditions and seems to be doing it well enough at the minute to warrant a chance to prove himself right. He himself is making all the right noises and it is MA who seems to be letting him down. When your trying to achieve something its never easy when there is criticism every step you take and its a hinderance when you dont have total control.

So by the fans having pops at him constantly and MA not totally backing off and letting AP do his job it is contributing to the man having a harder time in his job.
If players dont want to come to NUFc then thats not APs fault and no amount of bleating can change that.

Give the man a break and get behind your club and give the support that supporters should do

Agree3 Disagree0

I have my doubts about his capabilaties as manager some times, In some respects tho you gotta see where hes coming from. hes 'not in charge' really he gets told what to do, its him who has to come out to the press to give ashleys bad news making him look like a t*t even tho i bet he really wish he didnt have to. plus it seems to me he genuinly likes the players, joey included, and thinks he shud stay, which is a good thing.

Agree0 Disagree1

I think chris houghton would of done a similar job tbh if he kept his job

I just wish the board would give ap the money from the carrol deal so we can push on

Agree5 Disagree0

16 Aug 2011 14:54:20
Hi ed in my opinion i am not convinced that fat controller will bring in anyone else. Pieters deal is dragging on as usual and they cannot confirm a striker they are able to afford or wants to come really apart from lower european leauge players. What do yo think ?
TOON FOR LIFE

{Ed042's Note - Im more optimistic have to say mate, cant blame the club or player for Pieters situation, family death took priority, completely understandable.. as for striker its a purchase that has to be gotten right and we lost out on our two main targets in Gervinho and Gameiro, as well as Erdinc then who dragged it out way too long before turning the move down.. think we will get a striker in before window closes, it will be tight though, and as for LB will see one in the next 48 hours with luck, without luck it will be a week tops}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

2 new strikers linked this week maynard and maiga,i prefer maynard what do you think?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Championship striker, should fit straight in your team then

Agree3 Disagree3

Just reading on sky sports that leicester have bid for beckford. does this mean he is available? and if so does anyone else think he would fit our criteria. personally i would give him a shot.

Niktoon

Agree1 Disagree4

Maynard has had no top flight exp what so ever and isnt exactly prolific in the league hi is now so why would you prefer him? Maiga has played his whole but short career in th french top flight and his goals per season have bben improving with age so at 23 and around the same fee as maynard i would go with maiga

Agree2 Disagree1

Just like Wickham and Westwood it's kids like you that let Sunderland fans down.

Agree3 Disagree2

Just cos they come from the championship doesnt make them a bad player. Look at carroll. And what about cahill at everton? He come from millwall or somewhere similar and he cuts it week in week out. Then there is walcott and then theres the fact that a lot of players who went on to be great players with man utd plyed their trade in the lower leagues when young so it shows that not all lower level players are bad

Agree1 Disagree0

Maybee get a bottle of milk and a storey rudolph the red nosed manager at half time toon1

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2011 14:06:01
We need a quality striker with EPLexperience and pace, Anelka wants out of Chelsea, perfect fit for me.......and he's French.
I know he is older than the current policy but AP did say you need experience to go with the youth so why not?

Believable1 Unbelievable4

Anelka, I've said before stop mixing your meds

Agree3 Disagree0

Wages? Too high mate He on about 100k a week

Agree1 Disagree0

Wages as usual. M.A wont pay them they will be to high, shame tho as i think he would fit the bill too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah but with xisco and several other high earners gone it should clear up alot in the shape of wages.

Agree0 Disagree0

Xisco is quite gone I'm sure Newcastle are paying around half of his wages.

Agree0 Disagree0

Xisco wasnt on high wages for a premier footballer. but see your point and im sure NUFc are not paying any of his wages as MA wouldnt do this for smith either as its not good business

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2011 13:55:22
what your verdict on the striker situation ed? Who do you think look the most likely candidate at this stage?

{Ed042's Note - Maiga most likely from whats in public domain. Wigan will want too much for Rodellega. A lot of competition for Bendtner but still a chance. Bristol have said theres no contact from us for Maynard.. thats the latest mate}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We wont sign maynard He no better than what we have and wont ever be The lad is a lower level player at best and for the 4 to 5 million they eant for him could get a by far better player from elsewhere

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2011 13:12:01
Modibo Maiga? Am I the only person to have never heard of this person before?

Ed do you have any sources within the club? And if so what are the latest whispers?

I am of the opinion that we will sign a left back on loan and be taken as 'mugs' when the club make suggestion that they will permanently fill the position in january...or at least try (a word they continually exploit). I will go as far as to say that a striker will not be signed although the club will implore people to 'understand that the club has tried but others are unwilling to negotiate'. - This prediction is bourne out of listening to an interview with keegan on ESPN last season. Don't always agree with former players/managers opinions of the club but it sounds more believable with each passing day.

What does your gut tell you?

{Ed042's Note - My gut tells me Keegan although a legend in his day lets personal feelings cloud objective reasoning, I dont listen to much he says about Newcastle these days tbh.. As far as signing players, we will sign a LB, Pieters and Cissokho are two main targets, Pieters deal will sway one way or the other in the next 48 hours, Cissokho has apparently handed in a formal transfer request, although even if he has I would be less convinced we could get him to Tyneside.. as for striker, Maiga refusing to play for Sochaux may push through the deal, then again they could dig their heels in and punish him for his actions, block a move until window shuts.. other strikers in the mix, fairly well known we have been looking at both Bendtner and Rodellega although both tough transfers to get in the door... LB I would be confident on before Saturday, FW is 50/50}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

We had great times under KK but like ED said he seems to just have a go at the club every time he speaks now so i wouldnt listen to him his bad feeling for the current owner is making him bias against the club and just showing what a fickle man he is

Agree2 Disagree0

16 Aug 2011 11:10:23
For some reason and i dont no why, i cant see us getting anyone in before saturday. How come fab moved to barca in one day not even 12hours, and we cant seem to manage to get a player inside a week? i think 4 players would be good, but we know that wont happen. i would like more pace in the team and maybe need striker defender 2? midfielder? i keep forgetting ben afra is out, but we cant hold are hopes on him. ed any news on striker front, who do u think we stand a chance of getting?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Fab moved in one day?? Its been going on for months (or you could even say years). Where you been hiding?

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Aug 2011 11:04:04
I can't believe the rumours I'm hearing about Aly Cissokho coming to us. You don't understand this guy is dynamite

Honestly, twice the player of Enrique and although he might have a bit of an attitude but if we get him it will be high praise indeed for the Newcastle management/board.

Would take Pieters as well for cb/lb cover.

Geo

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Cissokho looks really good and i would be well chuffed if we got him Yes he can be a bit hot headed but he fast strong and like to tackle which lets face it jose didnt Would be a cracking buy

Really hope we do something completely out of character and make Lyon an offer they can't refuse for Cissokho.

He'd be a brilliant addition for us.

hav watched steven taylor repeatedly on sky spor ts news nd think his antics 2 get gervinho sent off wer pathetic wot an excuse as a human bein

{Ed042's Note - Its the modern game mate, have you ever watched Barcelona play, any portuguese football, half the players in the premiership, not nice to see I agree but its part of the game, not just about kicking a football any more, gain an advantage by any means necessary}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes ed but r these not the sort of antics we want rid of in the prem league ? and this is not the first time wit taylor , i remember him goin down like he had been shot a cuple of seasons ago 2 try and gain a penalty ( i 4get who against ) . im surprised fa havnt picked up on it and charged him wit unsportin behavior {Ed001's Note - I have to say I find Taylor to be amongst the worst and it will end up with refs assuming he is cheating if he carries on. That could cost the club if strikers can get away with fouling him in the box and then going on to score.}

Agree2 Disagree0

Maybe boys shouldn't be diving in the 1st place?

It is a disease in the game and Gervinho deserved everything he got.

Geo

Agree4 Disagree3

{Ed042's Note - Dont get me wrong, I hate diving and players trying to influence the ref in sly ways but as I said everyone does it, especially big teams, and its part of the game.. the whole Barca team surround a ref every time a player gets fouled, its no coincidence Real Madrid have had a player sent off in about 5 of the last 7 games played between the two, John Terry doesnt leave refs alone for a second during any given game, Nani spends half his time either diving or making a meal out of minimal contact and hes to name one of dozens in the Premier League.. could give examples until the cows come home of players manipulating officials in various forms.. of course it shouldnt happen and ideally we`d all like to see it stamped out but its delusional to think it will actually happen.. got to play the same game as everyone else does unfortunately.. as regards Taylor, yes was stupid to say Gervinho elbowed Joey, but if Gervinho wants to do a swan dive over a touch my 2 year old wouldnt fall over from then it becomes fair game imo}

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah i agree wit you geo but surely its the referee job to sort that owt not up 2 taylor 2 make owt that he took barton head off wit his elbow its a part of the game i despise and its about time the FA used video evidence 2 stamp it out (pardon the pun) and the same goes 4 diving mate

Agree1 Disagree0

Taylor only seemed to see JBs reaction and the way he wnet down so he suggested an elbow was used He does have his moments tho and would like to see it cut out of his game but like the ED said its part and parcel to gain an advantage any way you can and what if the ref didnt send off gerviniho and he got a goal? Raise your hands and you go its simple Remember JB got sent off last year for doing less in the blackburn game

Agree0 Disagree2

Barcelona only resort to those tactics against Real Madrid and there is a reason for that.

Mourinho's tactics.

S.Taylor was just sticking up for Joey, maybe he didn't see what happened and when Joey went down just presumed he was hit.

It didn't help when Rosicky came flying in, made the whole fracas look worse.

Geo

Agree2 Disagree1

Yeah get the point lads , thanks 4 the feedback just wish we cud get rid of both diving and the antics of trying 2 get players sent off even if FA did hav 2 use after match video evidence
