Personally, I would love Newcastle to sign the likes of Adel Taarabt, a proven goalscoring midfielder-with some spectacular skills as well, and quite a few assists to his name last season. I would also think that Christian Eriksen, a young player from Ajax would be a great signing, as he ticks all the boxes such as youth, wont be too expensive, and would not demand great wages.
Now on the striker front, I am hoping that deals for the Bangura's could be done, as they look good for the future. Pards has now said that he is bidding for a striker(source-sky sports). I hope that this is either Erdinc or Sow, but I do not think that Lille are stupid enough to sell Cabaye, Gervihno, Sow, and with the possibility of Hazard leaving.
Finally, on defenders, Neil Taylor will NOT be sighning for us, as apparantly he has signed a new contract.

What do you think Ed? And are there any new players that Newcastle are close to signing/looking at/rumours of players possibly coming?

TOONJC

{Ed042's Note - Taraabt looks like a real talent when at his best, but is very greedy at times and doesnt work for the team off the ball, would have to be given a free role off the striker to benefit from him in the Premiership I think and we have Ben Arfa for that position

As for Christian Eriksen he is a really great prospect but has been reported interest from both Arsenal and Chelsea within the last week which would rule us out of ever getting him, interestingly Eriksen himself said recently he doesnt think his game would suit the Premier League so maybe wouldnt even want to move to England

Striker wise i`m with you on the Banguras, think theyd be happy to be 2nd string for this season and develop their games at a bigger club, both seem to have really good attitudes and a lot of potential, and wouldnt cost and arm and a leg to get

Erdinc, I personally dont rate too much, been made out to be a better player than he actually is, and seems to want to fight for his place at PSG, and aside from that hasnt shown a real interest in coming to us, dont want a player that isnt excited to be here

Moussa Sow apparantely isnt happy at Lille, got offered a mediocre contract recently and with the few key teammates leaving he might half an eye on doing the same while there is some big club interest in him, Arsenal have been linked along with ourselves, top scorer in french league, seen him play a few times, looks like a good player, better than Erdinc anyway

New players or rumours have been few and far between the last couple of days with the main stories being about Bartons Visa and Chelsea enquiring about Tiote... think the Shane Long deal may be still alive, and would involve cash plus Best or Ranger, but how much cash is anyones guess, could be anything from 5 to 8 plus a player

Personally, and a lot would disagree im sure, but I would like to see Bendtner be the striker we`re signing, think he gets a lot of undue stick because he is at a top club, but for the toon I genuinely think he would be a great signing

Believable3 Unbelievable0

I'm with you on this one, I think Bendtner would be a great aquisition. Has some troubles finding the net but with enough first time action and that massive ego smashed down a bit he'd be a real asset.

Everyday we hear bad news about missing out on this target and we will only be buying 1 or 2 players and someone else is linked with a move away and then you get Pardew telling us how much free agents cost but would love if I just woke up to the news Ashley has sold the club and I expect Ashley fans to have a go for me hating him but let's face it yous are only trying to make something good out of a bad situation.

Fergy wether you like him or not is arguable the best and most successful manager in premiership. Ashley Young had about one year left on his contract and yet he still pays good money for him.

N'zogbia is approaching last year of his contract and all we here is we are trying to buy him cheap.

Some players like Cabaye you can pick up at a good price, but sometimes to get the player you want you have to pay the price, same as Sturridge. We should be able to but both players and still have change from the Carroll money.

We need to show some ambition or players will to leave like Enrique. We just seem happy to try and survive when we should be looking to aim high.

Ok realistically the league will be between Man Utd, Chelskis and Man City. With all the turmoil at Arsenal the following teams are all catchable.

If we could get Sturridge, Nzogbia and a defender who could fullback or central are the teams below any better than ours

Spurs looks like Modric is gone will Bale stay? Lennon is probably p***ed off with Harry. Sandro now injured.

Everton not got money to impove suad

Bolton similar

Villa have sold their two best players and keeper. But potentially have same money as us to improve their squad.

Liverpool blowing huge amounts of money on average english players but atleast backing manager and having a go

Scumberland Nearly 40m in for Henderson and Bent, bought three solid players in O'shea, Brown and Gardener but none of these are going to make that much difference,

I don't think so, if we can tighten up at the back a bit, we have a much more mobile and creative midfield than last season and even then there were games where we created loads of chances but our in effective forwards couldn't put the ball in the net.

We will create more chances this season with the likes of Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Marvereaux and if we can add Nzog so hopefully sturridge and Ba will score more than Ameobi, Ranger and Best.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

No chance of signing nzogbia, deal is basically almost done with villa and Newcastle are now out of the running, plus Wigan now pumping price to 9.5 mil

nolan 50k sol cambell 40k kuqi 10k carroll 28k.we are not paying these wages any more yes we have 4 new signings on similar wages so how can AP and MA include wages when mentioning we have spent a substancial amount of the 35m of the carroll money, this is utter bull we may have spent some money on signing on fees but thats it, i think ashley believes all nufc fans are like the idiots that get interviewed by sky on deadline days etc.

i am hearing a lot of worrying talk of major unrest among the coaching staff and g carr about the lack of new players and the weakness of pardew to stand up to ashley we have NOT BID FOR ANY PLAYERS IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS plus we will need replacements for players that are sold and there will be more of them the first team has no depth we need 6 players pardew talks about one or two the staff are not happy but pardue is just a yes man no love for the club carrs targets are not been acted on he is very unhappy a lot bad feeling among the staff which rubs off on the players OLD PRO

Believable6 Unbelievable0

It's no suprise Graham Carr is unhappy all that time he spent in Holland and it seems were not looking at signing anybody from there now he could of spent that time with his family.

Agree3 Disagree0

Told last night pardwho and carr have had major fall out rest of staff think think pardew not to be trusted

Agree2 Disagree0

Joking aside don't look good being a newcastle fan at the mo, I'm a mackem and the only way you can move forward is to get Ashley, Pardew and Lambias out your club

If my calculations are correct this year Liverpool have spent on Carroll, Suarez, Henderson, Adam and Dowming, about £105million. The toon have spent on Cabaye but recouped it on Super Kev, net spend nowt, zilch, bugga all. Why couldn't them or Man City or preferably Sunderland get Fat Ash. Lifes not fair

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Exactly mate so where has this money gone? They saying its covering wages for 3 to 4 years so if that the case then where does the other money go? Since MA took the club nothing has really been spent that would explain why we now seem skint Took alot of transfer fees out but havent put em back in and our wage bill is way lower than 3 year ago so leaves a big hole in the club as to where the cash is In MA pocket maybe?

The Undersoil Heating was Paid for from the Olympic Fund Grant..According to Le Equipe .
ashley is takeing us fans for a ride again

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Undersoil heating was already in SJP before ashley took over I thought it was one of the requirements of the premier league so winter games dont get called off unless too bad I can remember going to games ten year ago and them having undersoil heating then

Based on Pardoh's latest comments, it would seem that we are waiting for Enrique to sign a huge new contract which will then decide what monies are left for a striker. WHY are we waiting he clearly doesn't want to play for us anymore his heads been turned. At what point do we say lets get the best price for him, in 6 months time he could agree to sign for someone free and when we realise this it will be to late to buy a much needed striker.

Our season will be judged more on a decent striker scoring goals and winning us points than a left back.

I say withdraw the contract, get the best price we can now, line up a replacement on less wages than the big contract offered to Enrique and lets use use the money to buy a striker NOW before it's to late.

Is it Pardoh's inability to attract quality players or Fat ash not releasing the purse strings. I would like to know when Cabaye agreed to join Newcastle was it when Hughton was still manager

Apparently Mike Ashley is staying in the Wigan Travelodge, however he is not willing to pay the extra needed to secure the full english breakfast.

Nicklas Bendtner... Shane Long... Salomon Rondon... Jeremaine Lens... Mario Gomez... Cheick Diabate... Juan Manuel Martinez... Ibrahim Bangura... Sergio Canales... Khouma Babacar... Mevlut Erding... Daniel Sturridge... Moussa Sow... Miralem Sulejmani... Obafemi Martins... Dimitar Berbatov... Mohamed Bangura... Didier Drogba... Roman Pavlyuchenko... Jermain Defoe

Thats 20 different strikers we have been linked with since June...

Taking an ultimate realist view on it, eliminate them as follows...

Those that dont meet the age criteria of being 26 or under...
Anyone who would cost 10 million or over...
Those who exceed the wage cap of around 40K per week...
Anyone not for sale as Pardew has said he doesnt want loan deals...
Anyone who has recently signed a new contract...
Anyone who is linked to or with a club who can offer Champions League football...

After all that, the list of potentials is narrowed to just 4 players...

Shane Long... Juan Manuel Martinez... Ibrahim Bangura... Mohamed Bangura...

These I think would be our most viable options...and with Best and Ranger lookng to go... Ameobis contract issues... and Lovenkrands not a Premiership standard player... this is how we look up front...

Ba... Airey...

Think its fairly obvious we have to bring in at least one, most probably two of them players to compliment whats there and have any chance of pushing for a top half finish...

I d like to be optimistic, and still am that we can pull off a very good deal for one of the original list of targets but as I said, ultimate realist approach...

Let me know what you think anyway

Just put a post on rumours page mate about north east news tonight and in my reply to someones post i think shane long will be the man coming to sjp but i like the way ye put ye post its laid out well and i was also thinking the 2 banguras could also end up there as well. do you think ashley will want to off load a couple of players to do this. i think he is a very shrewd man and wont let anyone change him from the way he runs his business.
one gary rowell

Agree0 Disagree1

Only one of them would come for 40,000 a week no less and thats long. the rest would want way more

Agree0 Disagree0

The banguras look full of potential and thats a great thing but we need some established players in who know how to fight or we in for some real good hidings again from like of man utd and arsenal

Agree0 Disagree0

Man Utd
Away Lost 3...0
Home Drew 0...0

Arsenal
Away Won 1...0
Home Drew 4...4

Chelsea
Home Drew 1...1
Away Drew 2...2

What hidings were these? Only loss was to Man Utd away and their home record was impeccable last season.. W18 D1 L0

It was the silly results at home that cost us a better finish last season, and that was down to not being able to keep possession very well and make home advantage count.. think this has been rectified already with Cabaye, Ben Arfa and Ba specifically...

We need one very good striker, and idela world I would take Ibrahim Bangura and bring through Airey...

Lovenkrands, Ameobi and Best could be sold, send Ranger on loan, considering we are looking to play one up front I think we would be in good shape with that

as per we are all waiting with anticipation to see who newcastle sign next heres a question? 35m from the sale of carroll..where is it at? we were promised at first that it would all go back on strenthening the team, now when the time has come to spend it comes all the crap about underground heating at the training ground , and a water hole. also the transfers we have already done have supposed to have cost a lot of money, that surely isnt true, nolans sale would balance up yohan and the rest were free as they were either out of contract or had a clause inserted in the contract in the case of demba ba that if relegated they became a free agent, so at this moment in time other than possibly signing on fees and agents fees what have we spent 2 or 3 million i would guess, so i reckon fat mike is sitiing with 32m that was promised on players in his back pocket... then my next point, season ticket sales and shirt sales etc, the revenue that comes with that wheres it all going? if we hadnt sold carroll would we not have had any cash to spend at all this summer, we are all getting strung along on empty promises, either spend some of our money what we put into the club or please sell up and go. p.s. stop the free french transfers and go out and get some quality proven players in ...

liverpool agree fee with downing, maybe villa going to move for nzogbia?? and we would lose out on another top player as villa have the money there to offer. liverpool also have now shown an interest in sturridge, but would he start every game for them if he went?? we will end up losing out on him too.. going to be a bad few weeks, thought pardew would have signed a striker before the USA tour, would make sense to have done so. ED What do you think? and will sneijder join man utd?

{Ed042's Note - Villa will go for him, we`ve opened the bidding today, obviously wont be 4m he goes for but its a smart move to start... as far as Sturridge goes, we are not chasing it up right now, and only option on him is a loan deal I think, unless you want to pay stupid money, but dont think he`d move to the pool without a lot of 1st team games guaranteed.. as for wes to man u, would have to ask a utd man, is interest but could be a drawn out fabregas type situation}

I have to admit as much as I dnt like the cockney mafia id much rather sign unknown foreign players rather than spend 20 mil plus on very average English players, since when have downing and Henderson done anything to be worth even close to 20 mil, Milner took the biscuit last season tho wot was 26 mil plus Ireland, I thought we'd mugged villa for13 mil IMO

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Completely agreed. A players value seems to automatically treble just because they're English, sometimes even more. And it doesn't make them any better.

Liverpool have spent £75 million on Carroll, Henderson and Downing. Am I missing something here? That's insane. You could buy a decent starting 11 for that type of money. I'm glad we're staying out of it.

Agree2 Disagree0

Kenny daglish prefers british average players over foriegn flair players. wrong way to go as th british players are all ****

Agree0 Disagree0

Kenny hates to take risks on foreign players as he hates the fact they take time to settle. (WelshToon)

Did anyone else's eyebrow raise when they heard that we bid £4m for N'zogbia? I was suprised as the figures being thrown around were over double that. It will no doubt be rejected though.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

£4m bid in for nzogbia. SSN. What happened to the £10m valuation?

Agree0 Disagree0

By offering this sort of money , they hopethat the savings will pay his wages.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm a mackem and not going to take the piss just going to state a fact that the money isn't there for you thats why you offer 4m for N'zogbia, you may have 10m but that money would be used for wages and agent fee's also, Ashley is running his business the way he wants and if he wants to keep the money made off sales and not spend much then thats his choice, he is a business man not a true fan

Agree1 Disagree0

They've made a low bid because thats how haggling works. Wigan want £10m, we don't want to pay that. Start low and gradually work your way up til you meet in the middle.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ive heard its 4 million up front and add ons included like international honours, goals, success and sell on percentage which might not be that bad I still dont want the mercenary tho

Agree1 Disagree0

Newcastle are out of the running for N'Zogbia as he is about to sign for Villa it's ridiculous wish Ashley would just pay up for him most of his stats are better than Youngs.

Any including ED know if we are interested in Cheick Diatabate from Bordueax said to be keen on move to england i think he would be a decent shout

Chieck M'Bengue (7M)
Zoggy (10M)
cover lb (2-4M)
Lol seems to me we love the name Cheick maybe ill name my kid that haha after which one would i name him?

{Ed042's Note - Know hes keen on a move to England, thats about it, no bids lodged to date as far as I know, know the toffees were looking at him along with us a couple of months back... as far as who to name your kid after, should be a no brainer mate, only one true Cheik!}

I thought he recently signed a new contract.
