Were Favourites (equal with Bolton)to sign Sturridge I think a great option Fast, good on the ball and a good finisher, £12-15 Million would be a good deal in the current climate (Wickham 9mill ahaha) can see a striker being the only signing that will go in the 1st team and maybe Charlie.... Cant see Jonas sitting on the bench tho ? we could defo do with signing a left back an right back (Played with taylor in wrexham academy, not good enough unless hes improved a LOT) would like Clyne from watford and maybe Sordell for back up striker ?

On nufc.co.uk I was ordering the new away kit and was looking through the players and Ben Arfa was number 10 and Routledge wasnt on the list.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Cos he going thank god If he played in every game the way he has played about 3 times he would be a cracking player but just doesnt do it

Agree0 Disagree0

He's in the reserves squad for Holland tour.

direct copy from the London Evening Standard:

Chelsea's need for a combative midfielder has increased following the news that Michael Essien will be out for up to six months due to a knee injury.

As a result they have made an official enquiry to Newcastle over Cheik Tiote, two months after Standard Sport revealed they would make a move for the player in this transfer window.

The 25-year-old joined from FC Twente for £4.5m last summer and made such an impact Newcastle signed him up to a new six-and-a-half year contract in February.

But Chelsea, as shown by their pursuit of Tottenham's Luka Modric, aren't put off by a player committing to a long-term agreement and are prepared to meet Newcastle's £15m valuation for the Ivory Coast international.

£15m.....if Modric is worth more than £27m then Tiote is worth at least £20m. That said there is no way we should sell, he is central to our hopes next season. Mind if Ashley can make a £15m profit in one season he will take it without a doubt no matter what Pardew or the fans think.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Ssn bacsically contradicts that saying that a enquiry hasnt been made and personally i would believe that more than paper talk.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't talk daft, he got 14 yellow cards, didn't score many goals. 15m is over value for him. 10m tops

Agree2 Disagree6

Newcastle have said nobody has enquired about Tiote.

Agree2 Disagree2

Use your head before saying something silly lad... Henderson got 3 goals last season, as an attacking midfielder... Tiote is an out and out holding player, not his job to score goals... and as holding players go, only maybe Alex Song was better last year... and regarded among many pundits as the signing of the season last year next to Van der Vaart...

Henderson was sold for 20 million... you think Tiote is worth 10?... you tell me who s talking daft?

KRTOON

Agree4 Disagree2

Would consider striaght swap for Sturridge and Kalou. And sign Matuidi to then replace tiote. I love Tiote but if we can get two strikers I would do the deal.

Agree1 Disagree1

Ed is someone putting something in the brown ale tiote linked with chelsea but then ye get idiots on here coming out with a swap for sturridge or even madder a swap for sturridge and kalou chelsea will be looking in the region of 25 mill for sturridge and 20 mill for kalou in my maths that makes tiote a 45 mill player although a fan of tiote and would have loved to seen him in red and white instead of black and white i think he will be sold to chelsea for 15 mill and if newcastle are lucky they might put sturridge in a loan deal with it but thats about it

{Ed042's Note - Going off what I know Sturridge is valued at around 15 to 20 million... I rate Kalou personally but rumour is he wants to go if not in first team which has driven down his value.. latest valuation I heard was Villa looking at him for around 8 million.. I value Tiote for straight cash at around 20, and the club gave him a 6 year deal in January for this very reason, if a big club comes sniffing around its not like the Enrique situation, club have the power not the player, they dont have to sell and if he wants to go they want big money... and it will happen eventually as he is a top four player... only him and Enrique are... although I think you are right... if they did offer 15 million plus Sturridge on loan with an option to buy... or 15 mil with Kalou I do think Ashley would sell}

Agree1 Disagree1

Its already stated that chelsea havent enquired about him but the going rate for a player of tiote's stature and ability is upwards of 20 million

Agree0 Disagree1

Tiote was th best holding midfielder in th prem last year without a doubt. I would rather have tiote than modric in my team and if he is worth 27m thn tiote is at leat worth th same. i wud never sell tiote but if we did anything under 20m wud be an inslut and bad buisness sense by fat asley

Wonder if we see a drop in you Geordies posting about Sunderland signing unproven EPl players, now that you have 2 French unproven and are looking at a load of championship players yourselves. To be honest I want nufc to stay in the prem and do ok, just as long as you finish below us. But you guys can talk down Safc new signings all you like, But you should be worrying about yourselves first, Nolan gone, Barton, Enrique, Tiote etc to follow, in my book that's the spine of your team ripped right out, and yo replace them with EpL unknowns is very very risky. So with all bravado set aside, let's see what happens 2nd game of the season, put it this way I'm a gambling man and I've put £100 on Sunderland and that would/is regardless of loyalties.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Seem to remember you SMB's saying you's only had to turn up last season to win the derby, we all know what happened next Again you's are full of yourselves after signing a load of bog standard players.

Agree2 Disagree0

Again why are u posting on the nufc site what do u expect to happen people go ok yeh sufc r a better team lol the fact is that yeh nolan left but has enrique, tiote , barton? nope and barton and tiote definately wont the fact sunderland have brought in un proven players with stupid money when u look at newcastle brought in proven international players who were touted by many other clubs in the prem and yeh we will see what happens in the derby but the fact is sunderland rnt strong enough to compete.

Agree1 Disagree1

You know whats funny, you dont even have to argue with smb's now, everytime they make a point all you have do is go, 5-1 no comeback to that, who's the better team eh ;)

Agree1 Disagree2

New season different teams and newcastle have lost best 2 players and leading goalscorers in nolan and carroll but there is a long way to go till the transfer window closes and once the fringe players have been sold on then i think both teams will be chasing a big name centre forward because in your case ye cant rely on ba and with us gyan. interesting season ahead and lets hope newcastle finish second and sunderland top just to give the manx scousers and cockneys something to worry about

Agree1 Disagree0

As much as i would love to see NUFC come 2nd in the league again and get champions league football im afraid it aint gonna happen and i would sacrifice that 2nd place to make sure the bingo boys dont get 1st

Agree0 Disagree0

First why not post on here, or did you not read that it's the banter page? Second as you lot seem to post on our page then surely it's a given to reciprocate. Next it's funny how you always seem to resort to name calling to get your points across, ever heard of a debate? Or just some old fashioned "banter" and give it a rest 5-1 yeah ok so what I drag the history books out and quote your biggest defeat to Sunderland, or maybe that you have finished below us three years running I had hoped that I could have had a laugh and some discussion, but hey I forgot that some of you don't seem to have two braincells to rub together, so as I said let the football do the talking, and lastly I see your huge club got snubbed in favour of Swansea Hey that's how big you guys are these days lol

Agree2 Disagree0

Laughable mate You finished above us last 3 year You can say 2 cos one of these years we werent in the premier but how many years before thatw ere you lot looking up at us? Think about it Every team has good times and bad times as you lot know and weve had ours and started to bounce back Now let the season commence and see the true top dogs back on top of the north east tree

Agree0 Disagree0

Laughable to even think you will finish above us next season, sunderland finally have good cover if we get injuries, you have bought lads who are untested at premier league level except for Ba, you will struggle and you want to hope Ba scores 20 goals for you to get you out of a relegation battle next season when your french lads flop

Agree0 Disagree0

You cannot honestly say apart from wes brown and oshea, that sunderland have signed any good players. wickam has potential but he is a gamble and wont be very good until a few years. the rest are awful

Hughton was given the push because Ashley went back on his word concerning transfer targets Hughton wanted, when he showed his disappointment to the Fat Lad, he was shown the door. Pardew is a puppet, he does NOT have any say on sales, he does NOT have any says on buys. He works with what he gets and nods his head.
No big name or expensive signings while the Fat Lads in charge, oh i hope this Quatar rumour is correct.

Believable2 Unbelievable5

Blah blah Ashley to blame for everything we know

Agree1 Disagree0

To be honest sir john hall said in his interview after the sacking of houghton he would have sacked him weeks ago

Agree0 Disagree0

Is that the same Sir john Hall that borrowed 3m off the bank to buy into the Toon then walked away with 90m when we needed the money? Greedy Ba****d

Agree1 Disagree0

Shocking what happened to Hughton and I'm a mackem, he didn't deserve getting let go. he would of done a better job than Pardew

Agree1 Disagree0

Ye he might have took them down

Agree0 Disagree0

what sort of a club are we if we get up and coming players and sell them off to buy mediocre players who wont get any better if pardew sells tiote (hopefully not) i'll find it hard to watch matches when he's in charge, he's gonna sign two unknown players who will fail in the premier league, hughton was the man, pardew is ashley's btch

Believable7 Unbelievable3

As well a Hughton did for us, his signings were poor. On his recommendation we signed Perch, Best and Campbell. Carr scouted out Ben Arfa, and Tiote. Carr still works for the Toon, Hughton doesn't. Pardew has been placed in charge of the first team, and will be given players who the club have decided to sign. It is the way that continental clubs work, and we have implemented this at NUFC. So, as much as you can blame Pardew for tactics, selections, and training, you can't call him on his signings.

Why can't we just sign one of the banguras, they can't be as bad as xisco. The only beneficial thing he has done for the club, is set up andy Carroll against villa. A think teteh has a better scoring record and with demba ba he could do decent, Mohammed would probably do a shola.... Come up with magnificence about 3 times a season nd then for the rest try and take on defenders and fail miserably

Believable4 Unbelievable0

When xisco was bought he was a centre forward has he ever been given a centre forwards chance no
