Use our rumours form to send us newcastle transfer rumours.

12 Aug 2011 23:10:08
first chance ave been able to get was flying out off newcastle airport today and as i was walking in out walked benzema right past me he smiled and jumped straight into a car and off he went wat could be the reason for him been here cos highly doubt it its to sign for us :(

Believable1 Unbelievable6

Yeah seen him aswell. Messi, Ibrahimovic, Pique, Ronaldo and Alonso were all on the same flight.

Agree4 Disagree0

From wat i have heard from my dad that works at the airport that there was rumors going around to day at his work place that benzema had flown in to newcastle to day but to be honest a think its total rubbish propaly just a guy that looks a bit like haha get sum funny ones these days

Agree1 Disagree0

Maybe he was meeting people from Arsenal who may have been up the day before getting ready for the game - he has been linked with them over the summer

Agree3 Disagree0

Came to see the Angel of the North or maybe on his way to Sunderland. At least it was a smile, cos everyone else is laughing at you.

Agree2 Disagree0

Just wait we will be laughing at scum next sunday

Now the dust is begining to settle lets see if somehow i can make sense of it all....where to start ;) I was a disapointed as anyone to see Nolan go, despite the fact that if Im honest I didnt really rate him as highly as others might of, his leadership was as we all know priceless, but taking a step back and looking at the outgoings; Nolan, Campbell, Kuqi, Enrique, Xisco, Routledge in comparison to the newcomers; Cababye, Obertan, Marveaux, Ba, Abeid (so far) Im of the opinion, as much as it may well infuriate some readers that were stronger now than we were at the end of the season, with the exception of LB. Why? Well obviously the general ethos is one in, one out so on that basis; Cabaye for Nolan, cabaye is miles better technically, passing is second to none, engine again far superior and not to mention we will get atleast 3 more out of him than Nolan. Obertan for Routledge, need I go into this one? thought not. Marveaux, Ba, Abeid for Campbell, Kuqi, Xisco again I dont think anyone would choose the two pensioners and the Xisco flop over the 3 weve got. Admittedly the timing of Jose's departure is quite frankly diabolical, to go into a new campaign without a recognised left back is just utter stupidity end of, surely we could postponed the deal until Monday, his contract expires July 2012 not August 13th 2011, but provided we replace him adequately, which I believe we will as not even Ashley is THAT footballing ignorant, then the squad isnt weakened surely is it? Please dont think im defending any of it though, like Ive already said the timing is just pathetic So overall are we as a squad really weaker? I think the opposite, we have better quality players albeit the same quantity so still a bit light on numbers but i fully expect Vuckic, Ameobi jnr, Ferguson etc to be featuring more often in the first team this term. Are we also forgetting HBA and Gosling will be available this year? The point Im getting at is think of the team at the end of last season, compare it to now, add another left back and a striker which we will sign and are we weaker? Or am I just trying to much to look on the bright side? HWTL :) pd

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Well when ya put it like that probs av to agree mainly

Agree1 Disagree1

Didn?Ǭ¥t you forget about Barton? We did not win a game without him last season and now he is gone. We have no replacement and we will not get anyone. As you say having no LD is just pathetic, I can?Ǭ¥t see any professional club being this stupid as Newcastle has been when it comes to selling Joey just before the first game without having anyone to cover for him. It is just so sad to see. Another big problem is that we only have one goal scorer and that is injury prone Ba. We had a stronger squad at the beginning of the last season then now and then we came from the Championship. I love my Newcastle but I am really worried that we will be in the relegation zone if we don?Ǭ¥t get in a good LD and a stron replacement for Barton as well as a well proven goal scorer (Not Bendtner because he is pure crap). I also believe that we need another all round defender and yet another striker. I know we won?Ǭ¥t get these 5 players that we need and that is why I am very worried. People who are not worries just don?Ǭ¥t see the full picture of our squad strength, team morale and competition. If we end up 17th or better we should be happy as long as we got AM and AP running the show.

Agree1 Disagree3

So where has joey went

Agree0 Disagree0

Joey barton does not make Newcastle United. Undeniably he's a very good player, but one for the future he is not, and i think we've got it spot on transfer wise. It's just a crying shame that our antics are being smeared across the pages making the situation look far worse than it is, making possible transfers think twice about us..

Agree3 Disagree2

Barton, as far as I can see, is still a newcastle player, either that or we are fielding an unregistered player today...........As i said, is the squad any weaker? We need a left back correct, which we will replace and we need a striker, get them two in and IN MY OPINION the squad is stronger and more techically gifted than last season :) pd

no better time to play this lot the morn, there missing about 5 across midfield(first team players) get stuck in and crowd gets behind them there ours for the taking. COME ON THE MAGS

Believable7 Unbelievable0

The problem is that what they have left is still better then what we got. But lets hope we can win on will instead of skill. Pardew and Ashley has ruined our team but there is hope in a couple of years when they are gone :)

Agree4 Disagree4

I think Pardew has done ok - he has made some shrewd signings, he made the team play some good football last year too as well after coming in in a bad situation - I like him.

The delay on bringing in a Striker and a left back cant be placed on him - his job is to identify the targets - then the board make the deal.

Hey mackem here in peace. Sorry to hear about Enrique, I never saw much of him to be honest but a few of my Geordie friends said he was quality. Both of our clubs are now selling clubs let's be honest. We simply can't compete with the now top 6 or 7 clubs.

Anyway just wanted to say I believe 100% that you will beat Arsenal tomorrow. Just a gut reaction. In tough times people usually bond stronger.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Haha i hope so bud, i think Liverpool will have a hard game against yous tomorrow so much so that i took Carroll out of my fantasy football cos i dont think they will score many

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course Enrique is quality we dont need the top 7 no more, we've got each other to keep company. Geordies vs Makems - greatest rivalry to be part of

Agree4 Disagree0

Petition to have three derby games a season anyone?

Agree1 Disagree1

How about we meet in the FA cup final? Lol

Agree2 Disagree0

Yes as long as sunderland win it and you suffer another final defeat.lol

{Ed042's Note} Midfield and Striker Rumours

Barnetta is still a possibility, will be the move if Barton goes, Fulham also interested... Sulejmani excited to play European football with Ajax this season... Matavz had interest but Napoli seem to have won the race... Derdiyok, although he has said want to stay for European football NUFC plan to send a scout to his game vs Bremen on Sunday, unlikely at the moment... Benayoun being offered around for 5m, because of injuries and age would be very surprised if we moved for him... Rodallega, rumoured interest form Arsenal, Wigan will want ludacris price especially after selling Zog so no go... Ola Toivonen has attracted interest but isnt our 1st choice, would cost over 8.5m too... Bendtner as everone knows is being touted as a possibility for both Stoke and Newcastle, personally think if its football over money he wants then he will come here... Adel Taraabt linked but too big a risk, too big an ego, especially for 10m+, think AP sees him as a major risk to bring in... Finally, Macheda, rumoured loan deal but AP said he wants a more senior option, sees Macheda as a risk I think too... would also tell me the Doucore deal may be signed next week and he is confident of securing one of our main targets...

So personally think Bendtner is the best bet and theres a good chance of it happening early next week... think Barnetta is the go to if Barton doesnt fall into line and we get rid... and think if Bedntner falls thorugh there will be a major push for Derdiyok or Toivonen... all goes t*ts up with them you could well see Macheda come in as an emergency loan deal with a proven stirker being bought in January

Anyone else you can think of? Bar Sturridge, imo highly unlikely to happen, even on loan

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I pray that u are wrong about Bendtner Ed, Shola and Best are better then him .

Agree0 Disagree4

Doucore who's he ed ?

{Ed042's Note - French Trial player who scored in last reserves game, one for the future more than likely}

Agree0 Disagree0

Linked with Mcgeady awhile back but covered the wings now. I still think Pards might raid former club W.Ham and go for C.Cole in a panic Would Parker return? ( Replace Barton if he left?), Strikers: Rodallega, Wellbeck, Vela, Chamakh, Kalou, all Prem experience & except Rodallega will all struggle for 1st team action. Elsewhere, what about Shikabala from Egypt, still banging them in, Matavz of Groningen, Giroud of Montpellier, or a good upcoming player age 20, plays for Hadjuk Split, Vukusic. Scored 14 in 29 games in Croatia last season.
Psycho

Agree0 Disagree0

Nufc.com were saying that we have released Doucare without offering him a contract.

Okay- so quite a divide on here. Ashley running the club properly, and Ashley a tight wad ruining the Club on the other.
Tomorrow is the first game of the season and I cannot wait Love the Prem being back.
But what has annoyed the hell out of me is this:
Everybody knew we were going to lose Jose Enrique Done well for the Club and did not desert us when we were relegated. Hugely improved. SO once again why was there no plan in place to bring a LB in? 1 day to go and no 1st choice LB. We should of been making moves weeks ago and brought someone in to settle down with the squad and get adjusted. Same with a striker. We should of went out and got one in- weeks ago for the same reasons. We actually need two strikers to be honest But with 1 day to go and no LB is a total joke Psycho

Believable5 Unbelievable0

12 Aug 2011 18:51:34
fair enough Ashley has let carroll, nolan, enrique go, we would all like to see these massive name players come sign for newcastle but we have to remember, Ashley paid of the clubs depts using his own money so like any other person it is only natural he wants his money back I think once he has recouped his own money back from selling over payed - over rated players leave, he will then and only then allow newcastle to spend big and look to attract bigger names. But for the time being fans should get behing these new signings and support what we have .. remembering had anybody ever herd of .. asprilla, ginola, and albert ?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I had heard of Asprilla but that was it however most the players we have heard of we sign are over-payed rubbish Kluivert etc..... the lesser names always become more of a success for us - c'mon Cabaye, Abied etc....

Agree4 Disagree1

Yes id heard of all 3

{Ed042's Note} Defenders Linked

Annan moving to Vitesse... Pieters not being chased up until next week but still a possibility... Ryan Bertrand available on loan only, no shown interest... Van Aanholt being kept as back up to Cole... Managala has a lot of interest, including Newcastle, Porto only club said to have bid... rumoured renewed interest in MBengue but doubtful he will move this season, would have to be a very attractive offer... David Santon has interest from us but a host of other Italian clubs, most Italian players stay in Italy so little or no chance... Boilesen wants to stay in Holland and prove himself... Bridge attracting interest from Lyon and Marseille as well as us, emergency go to signing but coould lose out because of wages... Warnock is a loan possibility as Villa want to lower wage bill but Pardew wants permanent signing, another emergency go to I think

So out of all the defenders linked you can see whats realistic...

IMO Two to three targets Pardew has talked about are Pieters, Santon and MBengue but will take some doing to seal two of the three, hence Pieters being main target... Has a release clause and does not want to discuss football right now because of family death which is understandable, think Newcastle wanted him in for this Saturday, cant be done so are hoping by giving him space he will respect that and want the move... just up to us to agree terms with PSV.

Think if we lose out on those three it will be emergency go to time, which will be Warnock or Bridge... would also say Bertrand but have a feeling theres a good reason behind why we havnt gone for Chelsea players... think they dont want to do us any favours and we wont get a cut price deal because we refused to entertain any approach for Tiote, why else wouldnt we go for promising young players which one of the two will be potentially surplus to requirements

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Aug 2011 18:38:16
any news on the bentner front ed? id be happy with him only if he does not think he is the best player at the club and think he is great. id he happy with 2 points from the forst 2 games, would rather have the 4 three against arsenal and a point away to sunderland. i think they have invested wisley in there squad this summer, and are a team to watch out for.

stoke more likely to get bendtner than us ed is there any truth on this

{Ed042's Note - Both clubs are interested, Stoke no more likely than us to get him though, combination of other FW targets being mentioned with nufc and crouch deal hitting a snag for Stoke have altered the skybet, but its chinese whispers and paper talk right now, they have a good chance, but so do we, as do hamburg}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ed do you know whats happening with Pieters?
Are we likely to sign him in time to be able to play against Arsenal tomorrow?

{Ed042's Note - He is with family after the death of his grandmother, is unwilling to discuss his future right now, is still a possibility but definitely not until later next week by the looks of things}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think he is poor anyway and we should not even be considering buying him. If we want young and talented we should cough up for Van Arnhoult who we know can do it, and enjoyed his time up here.

Agree4 Disagree0

We should try for Ryan Bertrand

Agree3 Disagree0

As soon as he says he is not interested in coming to newcastle he is suddenly crap, about 4hrs ago he was a 22 year old dutch international class replacement for enrique, very bitter supporters

No he is genuinely horse poo look on YouTube think perch would keep him out the team that's sayin something

of course players leave for more money if someone offered you the exact same job yuou do now for lots more money you would take it fact end ov

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Agreed but the point is he says it was for footballing reasons, although why I think players should be honest these days I dont know.
Do you really think if LFC offered him 40k a week he would have gone as he thinks tehyt have more chance of winning trophies, of course he wouldn't.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lads we seriously need a back also.NEDUM ONOUHA has to be looked at

Agree2 Disagree0

I've been saying for weeks we should Onouha, he would challenge Simpson, cover across the back four and even do a holding job in midfield. The lad is very talented.
We should make it a triple swoop on Man City and take Bridge and Adam Johnson as none of these will get much game time. I'm getting so desperate I'd even take Bellamy back.

Agree4 Disagree1

Onouha would not go to newcastle after being at sunderland last year

Agree1 Disagree2

In the same way that Lee Clark, Titus Bramble, Michael Chopra wouldn't. What a stupid comment.

Agree1 Disagree1

Lee Clark showed his true geordie instinct in the end being a prat, Bramble there has been alot of years between playing for newcastle and getting called shambles and signing for sunderland, he was at wigan before that, Chopra was at Cardiff, Barnsley on loan before us. Onouha will go on loan to a bigger club maybe come back to sunderland for another season

Believable0 Unbelievable4

Yes and think wayne bridge is a better player all together

Will you Mackems just f*** off it's one person who said it so that's Geordie not Geordies you muppet and Pieters is still likely to sign but people were saying that they don't rate him the other day.

And alot were saying they do, works both ways, get a grip you foolish human being, bet if he signs your fans start saying he is miles better than enrique. You know it is true

Its amazing how Andy Carroll and Jose Enrique have gone for just more money reasons and nothing else. Let's be honest there is no ambition at the club. You have made 41 million of Carroll and Enrique and spent 7 million of it......Carroll and Enrique have gone to a bigger and more ambitious club than you and of course I don't care who you are if you get more money to do a job it doesn't matter you will take it....

Thanks MarkoLFC85

Believable2 Unbelievable3

I'll be the first one to congratulate you when the inevitable happens, and you fail to qualify for the Champions League again this season. Once the financial implications of this failure hit home and you are stripped of all players worth anything. I will then congratulate you, and your 'King' for being ambitious. Stupid more like. Another Leeds in the making.

kind of does my head in the amount of moaning that goes on, i can see why it happens with tight ashley not putting the money back in the club that he has made from his sales. but big name players arent wanting to come to a club that constantly moans about how the club is run, not just from the fans but from some of the players to. if we all stopped moaning and backed the club and the players more, other players would see how loyal we were and want to join. before we start slating the club i think we should give it a chance at the 1st few games of the season before the transfer window closes. at least we arent like the mackems who have bought in 10 average players. thats like nearly a whole new team that they can put out, i bet they cant play together, same as liverpool. give the club a chance and be the loyal supporters that we are well known for in the toon.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

I have to disagree, our entire midfield is going to be new aside from Jonas.... AND we don't have any proven (or good) strikers AND we don't have a LB and the season starts tomorrow...............

Agree0 Disagree1

People keep going on about how much ashley has raked in and kept. what about how much he had to spend to pay off the massive debts we had or have we all forgot about that

Agree3 Disagree0

He should never of bought the club then simple as, everyone knows when you own any business your responsible for the finances and don't beleive the bs that he didn't know what he was walking into he's one of the top businessmen in the country, he has the verry best financial advisors and lawmen around, this excuse is boring now

Agree0 Disagree0

If we play Barton Jonas and Tiote then thats 3 out of 4 from last seaon so how does that make a complete new midfield so Nolan has gone but Id have swapped him for Cabaye or Obertans, from the second half of last season we have gained a striker in Denba Ba (remember we had Loven.. Ameobe Best and Ranger to pick from, so the only change from second half of season that is desperate is Enrique leaving

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Aug 2011 12:16:33
So Jose has signed for footballing reasons, BS.
He has signed for 65k a week after tweeting he was only offewred 50k by NUFC.

Same as Carroll it is all about money nowt else. Fine F him.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Get over your bitterness, they both moved to a bigger club, if you go to a bigger side you will get better wages, £65,000 Is not that bad, seems though Yaya Toure of man city gets £220,000 a week, Carroll and Enrique have gone to a big club in Liverpool to try and win things, the extra wages is just bonus for them

Agree3 Disagree1

Of course it's about money. To them it is their profession. It's what pays their bills. Don't you expect bonuses and raises at your job? Of course you do, so why the hell can't they? You might be a supporter, but they are the employees.

LFC is a bigger club than us. Look at the way they have turned around their misfortune in just 2 seasons. At some point last season they were almost going into forclosure and we were all having a luagh when they were struggling in relegation, but look at them now. Dalglish is back, they have made good signings and will be challenging for the title.

What are we doing about it? Sure we've signed a couple of decent players but since Carroll left and now Enrique, we have lost massive talent and not replaced them. If we want to compete, we need to put in the money and show intent. Only mediocre players will join us. No one of top quality will.

Agree1 Disagree2

Lfc wont even be challenging for champs league never mind the title. players like downing henderson n adam will not get them near the title. waste of friggin money

Agree1 Disagree2

Bitterness because they have spent money, alot of newcastle fans were saying sign adam before he went there, liverpool have a better chance of winning something than newcastle FACT stop crying man

Agree1 Disagree0

When did we ever say we wanted adam. He was overrated and the hype around him was ridiculous. He looked good in a poor blackpool team. So thats not much.

Agree1 Disagree0

Never said the club said that read it properly I said Some of your fans said they wouldn't mind him, Adam is a very good player and practically carried them along with their player of the season vaughan last year

With the news that Ben Arfa is going to be out for 5/6 weeks (+ weeks to get back to match fitness) and also the uncertainty over Barton's future I think we might actually need another MIDFIELDER

Not just any midfielder, but a goalscoring midfielder as I think thats what we are lacking in the central areas.

Sunderland almost signed this guy and when I heard that it had fallen through I have got to say I was relieved. He gets a lot of stick (from his own fans) but I think he is good.

Home-grown, young and scores some peaches, yes Darron Gibson. At £4m I think he would be a great addition and if you are playing a 4-5-1 you need someone in midfield who can hit the back of the net.

Geo

Believable2 Unbelievable3

NO just NO

Agree1 Disagree0

Oh darren gibsons a good player now is he? funny isnt it

Agree1 Disagree0

Reasons please?

Geo

Agree0 Disagree0

He means because when the mackems were linked to him we were slating him on this website...i'm not a fan of gibson to be honest BUT i'd say we could probably do with someone to bolster the squad

Agree0 Disagree0

Harris vuckic is twice the player, if he stays fit this will be his breakthrough season and he's the reason why we havnt signed any back up to hba

Agree2 Disagree0

The same Gibson who you said was crap and will do nothing and can't get into the man utd squad. hypocrites, also gibson wouldn't sign for you as he is wanting £60,000 a week thats why he hasn't signed for sunderland

Agree0 Disagree0

He is rubbish and will not be welcome at our club there's a reason he is hated by Man Utd fans. Sunderland dodged a bullet.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

My early optimism in the transfer market is disappearing fast.

By my reckoning outs

Carroll 35m
Campbell free (released some wages)
Kuqi (released some wages)
Nolan 4m (miss his goals but to slow)
Routledge 2m ( runs around and does nothing)
Enrique 6m (doesn't want to be at club and releases wages)
Xisco (released)
Airey (Loan)
Taverner (loan)
Barton (looks like on his way, will release wages)

47m

Ins

Ba FREE (Wages probably similar to Campbell).
Cabaye 4.3m (great replacement for Nolan, better all round player, probably on less wages)
Obertan 3.0m (he will be better than Routledge, younger, point to prove and on similar wages)
Marveaux FREE (similar wage to xisco)
Abeid FREE (similar wage to Kuqi)

7.3m spent

So still approx £40 million plus Barton and Enrique wages

Surely we could spend 20 -25m on two decent strikers i.e Defoe and Bendtner a replacement full back and maybe someone like Joe Cole alledgely available for 4m and surely he wants first team football and will drop his wages and a ponit to prove.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

What about signing on fee's, agent fee's? carroll was sold last jan, can't expect there being 35m to spend 7months later, probably been used on other players wages. More factors come into play than just saying right we sold a player for 35m, right we have 35m to spend. I bet liverpool are paying that in installments. Said it before ashley is a business man, he will sort out the clubs finances to steady the ship so to speak.

Agree0 Disagree0

Joe Cole, good suggestion because he's not going to get a game at LFC and is out to prove himself again. But I don't see any top strikers signing for us regardless of the money we can put up. We haven't shown any intent in the market and we've ended up with a mediocre and lacklustre squad devoid of inspiration. The players feel it too.

Agree1 Disagree0

Joe cole would not get 1st team football at toon

Fabregas and Nasri have both been left out of the Arsenal squad for the game tomorrow. Wilshere is also out injured.

A little bit of welcome news.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Don't under estimate arsenal, they have cover in all positions, even their cover is better than your 1st team

Agree3 Disagree1

Shame they got wallcot and van persie back in full fitness

Agree0 Disagree1

Could they? Do you remember results last year? Absolute Mug.

{Ed022's Note - Who scored for you at the Emirates? Carroll? GONE! Who was arguably your best central midfielder and captain? Nolan? GONE! Who's your first choice LB? Enrique? GONE! Yes, Arsenal have their own problems but they will beat Newcastle.}

Agree2 Disagree1

Somehow I doubt it, but we'll see.

No Walcott, RVP, Gibbs, Diaby or Vermaelen either. You'd better hope your reserves are good cause that's all you're going to have left.

This will make them hungrier than ever

Bit aggressive ed. Just stating a point. You've lost your four best midfielders in fab nasri wilshere and diaby. Not to mention YOUR starting lb in clichy.

To be fair Ed022, you could say pretty much exactly the same about Arsenal.

Captain and best central midfielder - just about gone.

Clichy gone, Gibbs unfit. Plenty of other injuries to think about.

I wouldn't write Newcastle off just yet. That's what you did last season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed22, your captain gone, nasri going, your brain gone, your back 4 last time we played you gone Now iam gone goodbye

Agree0 Disagree0

Who is Ed022 and are u not on the wrong site? You's have lost Fab and Nasri and Clichy so what's the difference?
Replacements? Gervinho and a boy out the early learning centre for £12m.

Great

{Ed042's Note - Just wanted to weigh in here.. look Arsenals 2nd team would beat most teams On Their Day, 1st team is strong enough to beat anyone.. but with so many injuries, Fab and Nasri gone, and Wilshere not playing they definitely can be got at.. from what I can see they are rushing a few players back today that arnt fully fit because they know after last time the Arsenal fans want to see a hiding and there will be a backlash and bade atmosphere which is not needed going into the season.. This could work out for them but just as likely that it go horribly wrong for them.. and as said before without their three most influential players on the pitch and a few risks not at 100% playing if Newcastle perform they can be got at without doubt.. I think Arsenal are favorites as you would expect but far form a given theyll beat us, Gervinho is my main worry but hopefully Tiote lumps him out of it for not coming to the toon ha}

Ed022 do u love getn powered?

No Fabregas and Nasri tomorrow, i honestly think we'll do them over, left back or no left back.
we can beat them.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

There reserve team could beat you's no problem.

Agree4 Disagree2

Total Gerodie dreamer. There is no chance in hell you will be able to do them over. Especially since none of your players want to play for you

Agree2 Disagree1

Arsenals first team couldn't beat US last season and that was with a four goal start, plus we beat them on there stomping ground....2-0 to the Toon

I have been informed by a fellow Toon supporter and mate, that Xisco's contract was mutually terminated, therefore allowing him to join Deportivo on a free transfer.

Just in case anyone is wondering the ins and outs of the deal.

Geo

Believable2 Unbelievable3

It's a loan deal.

I have posted before how I think MA is doing the right thing with contracts and making the club financially sound. I also applaud the way AP is trying to make us a better footballing side and I am sick of fans blaming him for business decisions made by the board.
All that said I have a sick feeling about tomorrow, I cannot beleive that the club could not have supported teh wages of both Jose and a new left back for a week or so to ensure we had adequate cover for the start of the season, Arsenal have loads of injuries yet I fear whether it is Feruson/Perch/Jonas at left back that Gervinho and Walcott will tear them to shreds.
I do not think Pieters is the answer either, he looks like a poor player to me on youtube when usually it makes players look better than what they are. If the release clause is £7m it wont happen anyway. Hate to say it but I'd rather see Bridge come in.

Walcott is out for a month mate but gervinho could be the key man for arsenal tomorrow

{Ed022's Note - Walcott is in the squad along with RVP who will face a late fitness test.}

ED22 are you an gooner? seem to know alot about them and argue ther point a fair bit

Ed...just wondering whats your take on ben arfa..pardew says 6 to 8 weeks before he plays..is he still injured or does he mean takes that long to get him up to peak fitness...pardew also says in the jornal mind you that we wont have any new plays in till monday or tuesday...which i thought any way as transfers dont happen over night ...you heard owt m8 ...geordie tom

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed042's Note - Sorry mate wasnt around until now.. they are ensuring HBA is both physically and mentally prepared for a long season, he could be thrown in after 3 to 4 weeks as originally said but he is seen as a key player and focal point of how Pardew wants us to play this year so making absolutely sure when he is back he is back for a long run of games, disappointing but smart i guess}

Yep totally agree get him back ready firing on all cylinders...pointless coming back to early and losing him for longer cheers again m8 ...geordie tom

I am hearing wispers that we wont sign a striker after all. Will we have any offence at all this coming season. What are your thoughts Ed? It also seems as HBA carrier got destroyed by De Jong.

I thought YouTube made players look good, if that is what we are replacing Jose with we are in trouble, he is a lumbering liability. I've never seen a Dutch player give the ball away so much, he looks so bad I hope we sign Wayne Bridge. (ChesterfieldToon)

Does anyone else think that Tuncay on a season long loan is a good signing for Bolton?

I think we could have done worse than sign him. He is only 29 and a proven goalscorer in the prem.

Also, there is a lot of talk about a loan deal for Macheda. I personally hope this is not the case. was at Sampdoria last season and they got relegated.

Geo

Believable3 Unbelievable0

His goal record is worse than sholas, bests and lovenkrands so no that would just be the most pointless loan ever

Agree0 Disagree0

Actually, I have just checked and your right his goal record wasn't that good.

Although 80 caps 22 goals for Turkey is still not bad and he was a sub striker for Stoke so couldn't really prove himself.

I am maybe a wee bit off with my analogy though.

Geo

Sunderland knocked macheda back but might be ok for you lot

Crouch has an awesome international record, he can't do it in the premier league tho

I am a huge newcastle fan and i hate seeing what is goin on at the club. I try to be optamistic and see the positives but its hard when every morning you wake up and read about another lie Pardew has told. Start from the beginning in January, 'Carrol is going nowhere' then he leaves, 'our priority is to keep hold of our key players by giving them new contracts' Nolan leaves barton is transfer listed and enrique has gone. Pardew claims good contracts were offered to them is that another lie, Nolan says it was. And finally today, Pardew has basically said we cant compete with the big clibs in the transfer market, when carrol left we had loads to spend so wheres it gone. The club is being ran by a bussiness man and his puppet and until they are out i cant see there being any success......opinions?

I am starting to wonder if anyone on this website actually knows anything about football or if they base there knowledge on football management games?

In the real world football has now become a business, Ashley is a business man and he runs it like a business. I would assume that the ambition this year would be to finish in the top ten, as that would allow us to build and strengthen the team and then start aiming for Europe places.

Now as I am sure educated fans of football will know that FIFA are to start phasing in caps for teams spending beyond their means, starting in 2012 up until 2020 when they suggest the transition will be complete. This could potentially mean that clubs who don’t manage there finances could be excluded from entering European competitions. So I put it to the Ashley haters, how would you run this club in a sustainable way considering Ashley has more or less cleared our debt?

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Completely agree. There are to many fans out there that are very good at coming up with who we should be signing (usually players who cost a fortune in fee and wages). This would be ok if we were in the Champions League every year, as the extra revenue would help to pay for this. Well, unless these fans hadn't noticed we are not in Europe, and it was this same policy that has left us in the position we are currently in.
Sure Ashley made a massive mistake when buying the club, and was unaware how badly in debt we were/are, and I'm sure he bought the club with the intention of spending on players. However he has had to plow money into the club just to keep it going. This combined with listening to bad advice has meant that mistakes were made. We are in a posyion now that means we are stuck with one another (Ashley/The Club/Fans), and we should be singing from the same hymn sheet with regards to the policy of getting us back to be a big side again. However there are just too many fans who can't see the woods for the trees, and think we should be spending, spending, spending......the fact is we can't.

Agree2 Disagree0

Come on Ashley haters I am still waiting for you to answer the question?

Agree0 Disagree0

You lot will be ok then

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry m8 i dont play football manager games i live in the real world

Agree0 Disagree0

Ma hater or not, man utd are about 500 - 600 mil in debt regardless of how much they bring in. And abramovich spends his fortune as the club would be bank rolled if he left. do you honestly believe the fa/ fifa would say those two club cant get into europe? get real

Shearer to come back Not as a manager, but as a a striker Furthermore, he will be devoting his time and energy for free as the club clearly has no ambition or financial resources.

He has realized what a desperate situation his club is in and will do anything to keep his beloved club in the premiership.

They say u tube makes players look good I just looked this pieters lad up on there and if that's him at his best were in trouble, looks big n clumsy nearly all the clips are of him
Either giving the ball away or committing a foul, looks the complete opposite to Jose built like a centre back and looking at these vids he'd really struggle with the fast pace of the prem

Believable3 Unbelievable1

If so y would his manager want to keep him

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you joking havnt you seen the video when he takes it past figo no centre back could do that

Agree0 Disagree0

Right I'm sitting here very patient like I have been since january, its now 1 f*****g day till the new season starts and we don't have a left back to replace jose neither do we have a striker to replace carroll with 41 million sitting in the fat controllers pocket Do we just sit here and accept this bull s**t?
