It wont just be 1.5 mil though the deal will most likely involve routledge as well and i think it is a wise move but newcastle theres no point in paying 5 or 6 mil for unproven talents from the championship sunderland have already made that mistake.
Agree0
Disagree0
What mistake are you talking about, only 1 championship player signed, the rest have premier league experience numpty, you just jealous cause you are buying cheap frogs are you ready for second season syndrome, because your team is weaker than last season, no one knows what the players are like that you signed, You Tube only shows you there best bits. It will be a long season for you sad geordie B******* FTM
Agree0

Now that makems jealous we've signed good international players... dont worry, we'll go easy in the next game against you spam.
Agree1

Nufc offered perch and routledge plus 1.5m not a bad offer OLD PRO
Agree0
Disagree0
What international players have you signed, if you think they are good by looking on you tube you must be thick, and why would any s/land fan be jealous, of some unknown frogs and a player with a dodgy knee, in BA, yeh he scored a few goals for WHU, and he might for you lot, but you will still struggle this coming season, lol FTM
Agree0
Disagree0
Unknown like tiote maybe Carr got a good rep for spotting talent and none of us will know how good or bad these guys will be till we see them play
Agree0
Disagree0
Im a sunderland fan and ye might be right about them being good players but remember that old saying ye cant keep going back to the well. i think in tiote ye got a good un but most top clubs fans dont see him as that good as no one is saying we should go and buy that tiote. but me myself i hope larsson and gardener have a good as impact as tiote cos i would'nt mind 2 tiote in our side and any sunderland fan says different doesn't know eff all. p.s still think we will finish higher in the league and by more than 1 point this time lads

Who knows how much truth there is to the main rumour of the day but I actually think Bentdner would be a very good signing depending on how much he cost...
Doesnt get a consistent run of games at Arsenal to have consistent form but his stats are actually very good for a 23 year old if you look at them...
Taking substitute appearances into account, which could be anything from last ten minutes of a game to half an hour, for arguments sake we ll go with the latter and say every 3 sub appearances equals an appearance...
In 2010-11...
Starts 18... Sub 18... so divide by 3... is 6... Total 24
Games 24... Goals 10... Assists 6
2009-10...
Starts 24... Sub 10... divide by 3... is 3... Total 27
Games 27... Goals 14... Assists 6
2008-09...
Starts 38... Sub 18... dvide by 3.. is 6... Total 44
Games 44... Goals 18... Assists 9
2007-08...
Starts 15... Sub 24... dvide by 3.. is 8... Total 23
Games 23... Goals 10... Assists 4
Overall Arsenal Record....
Games... 118
Goals... 52
Assists... 25
Conclusion... Not a half bad record when you compare it to some well regarded strikers out there...
Granted, I have seen him have games where he cant hit a barn door, but I think if he was starting every week that would happen less and less... fact is even in those games he constantly gets in the right position, causes hassle, and gets them chances... and above all else thnk people forget he is only 23... still three or four years away from developing fully as a player...
Think because he has been at a top top club he gets a lot of stick for not being world class, but for a club like Newcastle he could be a really good signing...
Some interesting stats anyway.. be good to know what the toon fans think

Good way of looking at it but still dont want him.if you do the same stats for shola hes record wouldnt be bad as hes spent alot of the time on the bench especially early on in his career...del

Cheers for the response del... personally dont think Ameobi is too bad a player, better than Best or Lovenkrands without doubt...
Anyway compared the stats on the two, just out of interest from what you said... actually more of a gulf between them than I thought there would be.. sure check it out for yourself
Bendtner
Games... 118... Goals... 52... Assists... 25
Ameobi
Games... 128... Goals... 32... Assists... 7
Bendtner....
Goal Every... 204 minutes... or 2.27 Games
Goal or Assist Every... 137 minutes... or 1.53 Games
Ameobi....
Goal Every... 360 minutes... or 4 Games
Goal or Assist Every... 295 minutes... or 3.28 Games

Agreed, but highly doubt it was a straight 1.5million offer.. say we tried to be clever and get a bargain in offering 1.5 plus Routledge hoping Forest valued Wayne higher than what they actually did

Lets not get carried away by hysteria - Friday won't be anything spectacular, in fact, I doubt there will be any announcements. There are rumours like this every year and they're always rubbish.
Firstly, if the club were to be sold and was as far as the 'fit and proper person test' or 'due diligence', the press would be all over it. No way could that be kept quiet.
Secondly, if we'd signed a player, they would have posted it on the official website already. There is no way the club would be making plans for a major announcement if the deal wasn't already done either. If we do sign someone on Friday, its just a coincidence.
Thirdly, although unrelated to Friday, lets stop being so pessimistic about not signing players. Clearly we've made bids of £10m for Gameiro and £7m for Erdinc and we were willing to go to £12m for N'Zogbia in January, so there is obviously money to spend and a willingness to spend it. Be patient.
We'll definitely sign another 2 or 3 players before 31st August and I wouldn't be surprised if one of them turns out to be Erdinc afterall. Sunday Sun reckons the issue is a loyalty payment due to Erdinc from PSG that won't happen if he leaves before August, so its a classic game of brinkmanship with the player. We leave him to stew on it while we look at other players. Meantime, he has a decision to make: hang on for the payment and warm the bench at PSG or forego the payment and progress his career for a greater longterm good. For me its a no-brainer but he's young and probably being badly advised by his greedy agent (who will also get a cut I presume). Those are his choices unless another moneybags club comes in and offers to cover the payment of course...Malaga maybe? Because I doubt that Lille could afford to.
Dom.

He's got a great goalscoring record but in a poor league. Doubt we'll be looking at any more African strikers with the African Cup Of Nations coming up next year. Ba and Ameobi will both probably end up going with their respective countries, although I'm not sure if Sierra Leone would even qualify for the main event.
If we could get him for a decent price, I reckon he'd still be worth it. He's definitely got to have more passion, skill and enthusiasm than Nile Ranger.

Gutted i could have been the first 11 year old to give Mike ashley a piece of my mind i tried every single contact online but they all were out of date or non exsistent and im annoyed. I would have screamed at him as he expects us to have long and Ba up front next season pffft. If you shared a few million of your billions we could have a decent strike force like Sturridge and berbatov both are premier league proen and being pushed down the pecking order. Forget the days of owen and robert for big money moves no one heard of robert and Owen was basically Torres Eg both unreal for liverpool but both move for big money to a new club and then FAIL.
Its your choice Ashley get your head out your A*se or be hated alone and miserable. We would welcome you back into our hearts if you made some more big moves not injury prone rejects and then pretend youve spent £35 million on 4 transfers 3 of them who were free. Get us back in the Europa League at least or Get Out
Believable3
Unbelievable2
Shut up you mug, since when is Sturridge EPL proven. He had half a good season, reminds me of someone else and Berbatov is old and on ridiculous wages. Ba and Long upfront would be good in my opinion. Ashley is running the club so we don't get into the financial problems we were in under Shepard. If anything he saved this club and whilst he has made his mistakes, he is redeeming himself so go learn something about football/money and layoff his back you idiot
Agree7

If we are going to spend we need to do it now, with new regulations coming in next year clubs cant make a loss.thats why man u, liverpool and even sunderland are spending big this season, arsenal chelsea and man city will no doubt follow, clubs will struggle to buy players next year as most of clubs incomes go on wages therefore there will be little money for transfer fees, i see future signings being swap deals for other players or bosman signings.remember uefa have said you will be disqualified from european competitions if your clubs finances are running at a loss.
so its no good getting left further behind we need to spend big this transfer window, cos it will be the last chance to.
if these rules are carried out it would favour the clubs with the biggest stadiums, in which we would be third best, if we could replicate that in the premiership it would mean champions league football and who wouldnt want that.so come on fat mike look at the big picture and spend spend spend...del {Ed002's Note - You need to read the FFP rules - it will not be as bad as you think.}
Agree0
Disagree0
If you havent noticed the original posting says he is a 11 year old So although i think your reasoning is perfectly fine i think you have been a bit strong in calling the kid and having a pop But in some ways he is right like what he said about owen and robert Most fans would want a marquee signing and i also think sturridge would be a better signing than long So instead of relaying your feelings to a child in an aggressive manner just grow up and stop being a bully
Agree3
Disagree0
Well said i was about to make same post, some people on here slag others off for havin a different opinion to themselves, the only people who should be slagged off is the mackems who shouldnt be allowed to post on here in the first place...del {Ed001's Note - it is not your place to decide who posts where, this is a site to talk about Newcastle, not a site for Newcastle fans.}

Makes you hard mate i am the 11 year old and your pathetic. i know about berbatov and hes got years in him yet and sturridge is brill ba and long will not provide enough firepower so youre the mug for saying that they will so if youre not happy with me posting a reasonable comment well thats life so give yer heed a wobble son.

WARNING: mike ashley billionaire has shares in numerous businesses owns a football club that he has become bored with, as he knows he has taken them as far as he can. also knows that he is not going to run the club at a loss as the sale would then come non viable so no big signings will be made as he needs to keep the wage bill down. he also knows that no matter where they finish in the league he will still have a full house as the fans are still living in the days of kk and kd so no reason to take a gamble on players. he will scour the lower leagues and small foreign clubs looking for young talent who he hopes will show improvement and sell them on at a profit with the money going into his retail business and not the club. this man is one very greedy individual so beware if he tries to buy into your club after the sale of newcastle, try and do everything you can to stop him as this could seriously damage your clubs improvement.

Nufc are more viable financially than they have been for many a year and that comes down to MA for running the club as a profit making business I understand that some fans dont accept this but to say he seriously damages a club is wrong when you look at the facts and figures of the club

Niklas Bendtner left out of Arsenal squad for upcoming tour as he is in talks with a club - would be the right age for our current plan. Still trying to work out if he'd be a good addition if it was us.
