Even with the lascelles and darlow signings ashley's only made a net spend of around £3million, as if that's come out of his back pocket.

We made £60+mil in TV money last season and make very good revenue so I don't see why ashley can't splash 30 odd million on one player, I really don't. If Pardew wants us to be challenging for the top 4 next season, then we need to make those marquee signings. We need those players who can change the game on their own. We have got decent acquisitions in Janmaat, Cabella and de Jong. But we still need those top top players. We should be able to compete with the likes of everton and spurs in the market.

If Ashley and Pardew are here to stay and want to build us in an "educated manner", then they need to follow the blueprints of Ajax/Dortmund. Credit to Ashley though for getting the training facilities improvement underway. But our youth academy still needs to be seriously looked at, we need better youth coaches put in place. So that players like Aarons and Armstrong can just slot into the first team if a player is sold.

I don't think a £30 million pound signing would be within our wage cap and if you break it the wage cap for a new player then you'd be opening a can of worms. Our captain will then want payed more our other top players will start wanting more wages and then it'll get out of hand and the solid financial footing the club is now on will be a mess again.

SC7 I agree mate, but we just need to continue building and not rest on our laurels like the last two years.

Then SC7 we are NEVER going to be in the top 6 of the Premiership NEVER unless we compete and we need an owner who understands football and manager who can manage

We have neither but if your happy so be it. But a lot of us are not and are sick of picking the crumbs up. We will probably stay a mid table club even with the recent signings.

I'd love us to sign top players and target the top of the table but we have to be sensible about it just because we've been near the top of the league in the past doesn't entitle us to be a top team now.
You see the club standing still were as I see the club moving in the right direction albeit slowly.
Our academy looks to be finally producing talent capable of breaking into the first team and with players like Cabella, De Jong, Janmaat and Rivière yet to hit their peak on top of some good young signings I think the club is not half as bad as some will have you believe.

SC7 I don't think anyone is saying the club is bad. JUST Ashley had almost burnt his bridges with his could not care less attitude. It seems to be changing And as has been suggested with a few quality players CB Striker the future THIS SEASON and in the future could look a lot brighter

Fans are entitled to want the best

If Ashley had any urge to see nufc compete in the champions league he would have taken a gamble two years ago and signed the players we needed then, instead we signed anita?

Instead my only excitement that year was wigan getting beat meaning we stayed in the EPL. We have won nowt in my 40 years on the planet and save for 4 seasons of 2nd or 3rd place and two FA Cup finals, life as a toon fan has been mediocre at best, hells teeth, until we drew 4-4 with arsenal our crowning achievement was getting beat 4-3 by liverpool in the game of the century.
