ED, I was just watching the Barca-Valencia highlights and the commentator said the transfer window is still open in Turkey so could Cisse still be sold?

SC7

{Ed001's Note - yes they can still buy.}

1.) Keep him and sell Shola

2.) Unfortunately shola has little confidence in front of goal, along with Cisse. I personally think Shola will be here till he hangs up his boots.

3.) Hope we give him a coaching role?

4.) Shola a coaching role, really?as if carver & stone aren't bad enough! Although shola could teach the kids how not to score, how to fall over, how to give away free kicks and of course how jog lathargicley (spelling) around the pitch!

5.) He might teach people to become mackem slayers! Otherwise I agree and I hope we don't get him but I hope we get harper or given as GK coach

6.) Cisse is off to the Russian club Rubin Kazan. Thier window is still open to the 27th Feb.

7.) P F M spot on

8.) Cisse is a good striker but isn't doing well under coaching staff, if we get £9million or more I hope we sell though

9.) My concern is that if we do sell then the money wouldn't be reinvested and we would make do with what we have. As the useless and spineless (couldn't be bothered to turn up yesterday and face the fans comments ) Kinnear would say the squad is more than good enough

10.) The thing is if we sell Cisse for £10m we will make a profit on him which would be very good and I think we bought Luuk De jong for is reason but I think if we get better coaches cisse can be like he was when he first joined. Also Adam Armstrong has been on the bench recently and he looks good so I t might be ok to sell him.

What do you think, Should we sell him for £10m or keep him

11.) I think the season cisse arrived the team was swapped around to accommodate him & he was class there's no doubt about it!as the season is pretty much over for us why not stick him back up top with benny n remy coming in from wide & see how the lad does?
As for harps as coach your bang on lad but apparently he upset Ashley so doubt it would happen!

12.) As poor as the lad has been recently we need to keep Cisse, Shola in the derby game was dreadful and he really shouldn't be allowed near a football pitch.

13.) My only concern would be that it might prompt the club to offer shola a new contract.

14.) I think we signed De Jong to prepare for cisse leaving.

15.) Geordietoons comment could be tongue in cheek but it wouldn't surprise me at all if that's what happened. At times we really are a shambles

Maybe it's just me but some of the players look like they want us to go down so they have an easy escape Janmaat looks like he's had enough and could get a move to Man U, Liverpool or Southhampton if rumours are true but I don't blame him he's carried his teammates most of the season. Sissoko thinks he's going big time with a champions league club if we get relegated.
Colo knows his only chance of getting to play back in Argentina is if we go down, Ashley will not want to pay his high wages again in the championship.
On the other end of it Williamson knows his only chance at staying at the club is if we are in the championship.

Not expecting much this season we'll be lucky to get 12th spot, teams that I think are stronger than us:
Arsenal
Chelsea
Everton
Hull
Liverpool
Man City
Man U
Southampton
Stoke
Swansea
Tottenham

We have a better team than a couple of these clubs but every team in this list has a better manager. Managers who send their teams out with structure, purpose and confidence the complete opposite to our manager.

If Colo gets a bad injury and is out for a while and then Williamson picks up a short term injury or a three match suspension we'll probably end up with a centre back pairing of Taylor and Dummett which would probably concede five or six goals to a blind U10s side.

We've replaced ten players with seven and we could still lose Tiote to a Russian or Turkish club.

It's obvious now that the club never intended to do anymore business than what was needed to get people into the stadium and after seeing the home crowds against City and Palace they realised they could get away with signing no more players and could rely on the fans blind loyalty to the club.

SC7

1.) I agree with your assessment and think 12th is optimistic based on the performances so far.

the team lacks any real purpose. We have kept possession well and actually not had too many threats against us even against city. but we are useless when we don't have the ball and lack any sort of leadership. a few years back we at least had nolan and barton who would inject some passion and enthusiasm into the team. I don't see that at all in our current team.

If we do get rid of pardew I'd like to see steve bruce or stuart pearce get the job. Pro's who know what it means to the supporters to just wqtch their team give their best!

2.) Add to that list Villa and Burnley Leicester ( who know the agony of relegation. & Blunderland who also know that sinking feeling

We as we stand one of the relegation favourites BUT getting a result at Southampton could change that (well on some peoples minds)

I really don't care about signing another striker with Rivière, Ferreyra, Cisse, Perez, De Jong, Gouffran, Armstrong and Campbell we are more than covered up front in my opinion.
I'd expect around 15 goals from Rivière this season and from what I've seen of him he's more than capable of that.
Cisse has shown he is capable of scoring double figures in the EPL. With the service of Cabella, De Jong, Sissoko and possibly Aarrons he may get back to his best and with being out injured for quite some time he may well be chomping at the bit to get playing again and prove the critics wrong.
With Ferreyra I've never seen him play that I remember of only YouTube clips but what I've read about him is he's not the greatest player but clinical and could chip in with between 5-10 goals this season.
De Jong will probably be setting his targets on reaching double figures this season and with the talent he possesses I wouldn't bet against him reaching his goal.
Gouffran ran chipped in with 8 goals last season and I'd expect at least 5 from him this season.
Perez, Armstrong and Campbell are unknown quantities they all have talent and seem to know where the net is at a lower level of competition, depending on game time although likely to be limited you'd think they'd chip in with the odd few goals.
Add to them Cabella who scored 14 I believe last season he has already scored twice in only a couple of games, who would be more than capable of scoring between 5-10 and scoring doesn't seem to be the problem.
It seems to me everyone wants to sign another striker to compensate for the goals we're undoubtedly going to concede with our woeful defence which is simply papering over cracks.

SC7

1.) This is a well thought out viewpoint SC7, I have to agree. Lacazette and aubamayeng look great but we won't get them. I have to agree with spiretoon that we should be investing in a playmaker. One area we haven't discussed is leadership. I really wish we had gone all out to sign a seasoned CB and pushed for John Terry. We really need someone in defence who can lead and inspire as well as organise. Collocini does not seem passionate or motivated by being captain.
My sense is that the fans are desperate for someone who can demonstrate a passion for the team out there on the pitch. We need to recruit a winner, a leader and a battler to keep the ship steady when Pardew has his moments of madness.
It has been a long time since the fans got to see a player really care, we'd be going back to the bobby Robson era I guess.

My team to start against man city if all fit

Krull

Janmaat, Collo, Williamson, Haidara

Tiote, Sissoko, collback, cabella

de jong

Riviere

2.) Think they will fit Colback in there Desree

3.) Collback is a starter for me Vida. Our midfield needs two battlers against man city. With him being a local lad on his debut against man city at SJP I figure we will get maximum effort. Also for the new lads it might just help them realise early what is expected.

My team for Today would be:
Elliot

Anita
Williamson
Streete
Haidara

Obertan
Sissoko
Tiote
Aarons

Gouffran

Rivière

SC7

1.) NO way

2.) Close but Why No Full Backs?

3.) 03 Aug 2014 19:45:23
Janmaat only traveled with the squad to get to know his teammates, Santon's injured, R.Taylor isn't yet fit enough and our two reserve right backs are recovering from injuries picked up last season. Anita is simply the best option at the minute. And Haidara is a full back.

Is it just me that's worried about our defence I mean it's great signing the attacking players but our midfield and attack is starting to look like a team capable of breaking into the top six but our defence looks more bottom six we aren't even being linked with defenders which is worrying to me. We one hundred percent need a CB even more so with the club looking to get rid of Yanga-M'biwa.

SC7

1.) I don't think our defence is bad in quality it's more down to the coaching. Our defence is relatively better than the one in 11/12, it's just that then because we had good attacking players e. g. HBA, ba, cisse and Cabaye so we spent more time in the oppositions half! And we've lost half of those players in the last few seasons so we've been lacking attacking threat therefor the defence getting overworked and overrun.

Another player who has little interest in playing for us, we're his last option if Lyon told him they needed him to leave he'd probably wait for other clubs to come in for him and only sign for us if no other deal is in the pipeline.

Remy, Colo, Tiote, Debuchy, Krul and Gouffran are the only players I'd be sad to see leave the club actually add Haidara to that list who I think could be a brilliant LB given game time but other than them I don't rate the rest although I can't include De Jong in that as it's too early to judge him.

Considering Roman Abramovich and Sheikh Mansour both supposedly payed around 150m for Chelsea and Man City there is no way anybody would pay 250-300m for our club. Until Ashley gets back his loan or the majority of it back and the price lowers nobody will even be interested in buying us.

Somebody who went to the game was also talking about how good Olivier Kemen was Yesterday on another site sounds like Carr has got us a good prospect.
Maybe Sylvain Marveaux to Montpellier as I think his brother already plays for them although I may be wrong.

We should offer Montpellier 15m, 10m for Cabella and another 5m to take Obertan.

Who's the left back?

Grimes has already joined Swansea.

I know this may not be the most popular opinion but the 433 formation worked because of Obertan and now he's out injured we're screwed especially as we're also without Aarons.
Many will probably disagree with this team but i'd play if fit:
Alnwick
Janmaat Colo Taylor Dummett
Anita Abeid Colback
Sissoko Perez Ameobi

I know Sissoko's best position is CM but if i remember correctly he was in the top ten most creative players in the PL last season whilst playing RM. We need some creativity in the team and Cabella is yet to offer that in my opinion. The midfield three can keep it simple by winning the ball back and keeping possession before moving the ball to the front three.

Agreed Perez is the only player that looked good Yesterday. I don't think it's any coincidence that we've looked poorer since Tiote came into the team, we were much better with Abeid in there playing it simple.
Colo failed to be the leader we needed Yesterday which is no surprise Sissoko seems to be the real leader on the pitch.
I feel sorry for Alnwick making his first start and having that shambles of a defence in front of him left him with no chance.
For Spurs on Wednesday if Aarons isn't fit then Callum Roberts has to be called up we're desperate for a winger who can dribble and make things happen. Cabella doesn't seem to have the determination to make it, Ameobi is clueless he just does the same thing over and over again and hopes it works once.
Team for Spurs:
Alnwick
Dummett Colo Taylor Haidara
Sissoko Abeid (Anita) Colback
Roberts Riviere Perez

Also sticking with the 4-2-3-------1 formation. I think we'll win the game 1 or 2 nil Pardew is as slimy as an eel and seems to get the results to keep him in the job when desperate.

I'd love us to sign top players and target the top of the table but we have to be sensible about it just because we've been near the top of the league in the past doesn't entitle us to be a top team now.
You see the club standing still were as I see the club moving in the right direction albeit slowly.
Our academy looks to be finally producing talent capable of breaking into the first team and with players like Cabella, De Jong, Janmaat and Rivière yet to hit their peak on top of some good young signings I think the club is not half as bad as some will have you believe.
