This is so painful to think about but listen to this:
Before Ashley came, and before the man city owners bought city, they actually considered buying Newcastle! My god just imagine where we'd be now if they did buy us.

This has been well known for years. Ashley quoted them £400m for the club. They saw City as a better deal.
