I really think if we are going after young talent we should sign Marvin Martin, Ryad Boudebouz, Xherdan Shaqiri and Gamiero

Newcastle looking at Sochaux winger, Ryad Boudebouz, who is unhappy at Sochaux's decision to sack their manager despite finishing 5th.

On a side note, I've no idea if they're looking at Marvin Martin, another young Sochaux player, but they should. He scored twice in his France debut last week which was described as 'Zidane-esque' and more so, from what I have seen, he has been excellent for Sochaux. (Lille are interested in him with Gervinho looking to leave them)

Do you know how true the rumours are linking Alan Smith with a return to Leeds are Ed? {Ed001's Note - it has been put in Grayson's hands, Smith is keen, Bates is keen (he thinks Smith will shift shirts!), it is now up to Grayson. Let me guess, are you still stalking him?}

All this talk about Gervinho, Gameiro ETC. . is never going to happen, We won't get players half as good as these guys. Ashley will never spend 35M this summer, We can t even offer our best players (Barton, Nolan and Enrique) the contracts they deserve

: True its a tough job bringing in players looking for europe when you re not in it next season but history has shown newcastle are a club capable of attracting players seen to be too good for them. Add to that the signing of cabaye on friday, teammate of Gervinho, and Tiote more than likely having words in his ear its not pipedreams to put a small bit of faith in our abilities to attract him. As for Gameiro I agree, probably tougher to sign, but with Valencia signing Klose and the fact he is coming to the end of his career and would not move without a guarantee of first team football, maybe Gameiro isn't a target for them any more, leaving the door open for Newcastle to try and sweet talk him. As well as all this its not as if these players are truly proven talents as yet, the french league is nowhere near the standard of the premiership so the jury is still out on both, although I do think they have potential.

As for the contract dealing with our current players, although it would be stupid to dispute that Nolan and Barton had a very good season, if any Newcastle fan looked at the scenario objectively they would see the logic from a business and footballing point of view. Nolan, even though still only 29 looked like he was running out of legs halfway through last season, has had an operation recently, and even at full fitness isn't a box to box central midfielder any more, which is what is needed to be consistently top half of the table nowadays. Barton is looking for a four year deal, has had a good season, tailing off slightly the last third, but admittedly does have to be given a lot of credit for how hes turned himself around and shown loyalty during the contract disputes, but there is no guarantee he will repeat for four years to come, football or conduct. .

If both players were to agree to two year deals with an option for extension, which is actually what the club seem to want to offer, I think that would be smart for the club going forward, but four and five year deals? asking a bit much I think, considering even if we offered that and tried to sell them both in two to three years they would both be 31 and 32 respectively, and virtually worthless in financial terms.

As for Enriique, theres no issue with offering him a new and improved deal, the reason he hasnt signed is because he has one eye on who else wants him, and is holding out, and Liverpool offering the likes of 4million is laughable so i m not surprised the club rejected it. I m a big fan of Enrique and would love him to stay, and hopefully with a few good signings he will reconsider but at the end of the day we ve held on to too many players in the past that don't want to be there, and they simply don't perform to their full potential when that's the case, so may as well cash in, but would have to be in excess of 10million considering hes only 24

Deserve?? Nolan aii ok but he being a greedy cu*t wanting 3yrs on top of the 2 hes got at 28 but im sorry nolan can't run now let alone at 33! Joey has had 1 good season to me he aint even a 65k a week player both replaceable the fact is will they b replaced? i think d.gosling will be amazing he'll take joeys spot and cabaye will take nolans. its all about youth with long contracts so i expect maybe both to leave but i dunno what rush nolan in he got 2yrs left? Please, Please don't keep coming out with 'Top 6 next season' and 'unstoppable' if we get. . nonsense. No one has signed 'officially' yet. Players will, don't know who though. Most on here dont. But its daft comments like top 6 etc that make us ALL look like idiots. Could be an exciting summer but lets see who signs first. Psycho.

Newcastle are going head-to-head with Blackburn Rovers for Egyptian attacking midfielder Shikabala.
The 25-year-old real name Mahmoud Abdel Razek Fadlallah is in the final six months of his current deal with Egyptian club Zamalek and is available on a cut-price deal.
Shikabala has scored 53 goals in 78 games for Zamalek since he returned in 2006 from an unproductive spell at Greek side PAOK Thessaloniki to the club where he started his career.

Newcastle United are said to be the new favourites to sign Wigan Athletic winger Charles N Zogbia, although there are conflicting reports as to N Zogbia s willingness to return to St James s Park.

Going to be a funny summer. Psycho

Daily Star reports Charles N'Zogbia will snub Liverpool because he's desperate to come back to Newcastle.

We won't sign Gervinho so I think Ben-Arfa and N'Zogbia on either wing would be brilliant.
