some report saying Arsenal want Tiote but will not meet the 20m asking price why would we give them tiote for 20m (could this be a ploy ie ok we will pay 20m then)

Believable3 Unbelievable6

The £20 mill is just for the enquiry ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

It was good of Arsenal to invent a price for Tiote and then declare they would not meet it.

Its so backward its almost funny.

Gael Bigirimana has officially signed for Newcastle United. Its up on the NUFC official website.

Believable9 Unbelievable2

Am I right in thinking he classes as an "homegrown" player?

Agree1 Disagree1

Good question, but i dont think he does as he has not been in the youth system of coventry for long enough

Agree0 Disagree1

This guy will not improve our squad at the moment and people saying we now got two Tiote are just so wrong. Do you guys think we would get him for £1 million if he were that good? This guy is very raw and we don't know how good he will be. He might never be in our starting eleven so he is just a hope for the future not an improvement of our current squad. I am getting worried here with our only signings beeing Bigirmana and Amalfitano, these two are championship players. We have let go of better players in Guthrie, Best and Foster. We needed to broaden our squad and improve our starting line up but we have seen nothing of that. Ed what is going on here, what can we expect? Can we expect 3-4 good signings that will make us a better team or should we just be happy to get to keep what we have? Maybe just get some more of these descent players that will not really improve us at the moment. I can´t see us having a chance of getting top 5 again if we do not get in 3-4 new players that would go directly in to the starting line up. There will be to many games this season and the depth of our squad is extremly bad. Look at our strikers, we only have Cisse, Ba and Ben Arfa (Ben Arfa not even being a striker but in our current system he is up front). What comes after this, Ameobi? He ain´t good enough for the PL. What if Senegal win over Ivory Coast and qualify for ACON, then we basically have no strikers. We need De Jong (or one just as good) and another good striker. I don´t want to go in to the other parts of our team but they are the same. I guess there is nothing els to do but to cross my fingers and hope that I soon will read about us getting some good players in. {Ed001's Note - I expect there to be a few signings yet, you just won't over pay, on wages or purchase price, for anyone. De Jong was just messing the club about because he knows other clubs are interested, he was trying to keep his options open.}

Agree2 Disagree5

Yes he does

Agree1 Disagree0

Yes because he joined coventry when he was 11

Agree1 Disagree0

Bit harsh calling the 2 new signings championship players, have you ever seen either play?? The players we have brought in recently were unknown in terms of quality, cisse ,cabeye, titoe but turned out to be quality. One thing is for sure is that we have a top scouting system in place and would prefer to have good up and coming players than the 30+ players are neighbours are signing.

Agree2 Disagree0

We're building for the future which is a good thing I'm sure we will bring in good players before window shuts

Agree0 Disagree0

We got tiote for 3.5m and he turned out to be an excellent signing

Agree0 Disagree0

Bigirimana is a decent prospect, he is similar to Tiote but obviously nowhere near that level, who is though, Cheick's the best defensive midfielder in the league by a mile, he is a good signing for £1m though and can learn loads from Tiote, especially if he takes the kid under his wing

Agree1 Disagree0

Does anyone research anything?? he isnt a tiote type of player he is a CAM he loves to run at people and attack them he is more of a cabaye player im sorry

Agree2 Disagree1

Bigirimana was originally a cb, however coventry put him 'in the middle'. He is often compared to Micael Essien (spelling).

It's on TV that De Jong is in talks with borussia munchengladbach. It looks as though talks with him have slowed down a hell of a lot!!

Believable6 Unbelievable2

Which channel as can not see any info any where and i think they offered the same as nufc but instalments

I posted the other day that the Debuchy and De Jong were all but signed and nothing has changed. Twente playing the hardball at the moment but they know they are resigned to losing the prized asset. Another CB and midfielder to follow them

Believable5 Unbelievable7

I can see another long drawn out affair with both of them with neither being a garenteed new signing. a la the fiasco surrounding gervinhos proposed move last summer. nothing but rumours and hearsay at the moment

Agree4 Disagree0

Sad sgb falling for it again ashley we are after this star and that star then offer less than half the value of the player. any club can do that if you really want to sign players then you have to pay the value

Agree1 Disagree4

Incorrect smb. Ashley pays in cash up front, no clauses, no addons, no installments, which is why there is a difference in Newcastle's bid to everyone elses.

Now go back to your hole.

Agree6 Disagree0

De Jong wants to leave, Newcastle are willing to take him. The sticking point is the transfer fee.

Newcastle have raised the money to cover the difference asked with sales of Forster and Best, but by leaving negotiations for a week or two now they are in a stronger position if they return to the negotiating table.

I fully expect Newcastle to up their bid in the coming weeks after De Jong's agent does a little more work...

Agree2 Disagree1

SGB Fallen for it again? The only thing that is sad is even if we didnt sign anyone this summer (apart from the 2 we have) we would still have a far superior squad that the unwashed you follow.

Saying that I am more than confident we will have the players in. Bitter pill taken again this morning? SMB

Agree2 Disagree1

Coming from a makem who say they signing...johnson,downing,fletcher,holt and write all over they getting 15 to 18 million for gyan...........then they sign ceullar and look at saha....

Agree3 Disagree0

Hello ,we got Cisse by playing the long game .Like all thingsd sometimes it works sometimes it don't .We move on and get better.

Agree2 Disagree0

What like we did with Cabye and tiote? Why can't people get it I to their thick heads that nobody has any money apart from 5 or 5 clubs. At the end of the day if these players really want to come their clubs will have no choice bit to accept the offers.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not if there not worth it you smb, once you start paying more money than there worth then the selling club, and other clubs you wish to buy from have got you over a barrel. that why yous pay big money for 30 somthing type of players

Agree2 Disagree0

Gardner 7 million and guthrie played better than him and was a free.........

North East duo Newcastle United and Sunderland have joined the chase for Manchester City starlet John Guidetti.

Newcastle are closing in on their second capture of the summer transfer window – with the imminent signing of Coventry City midfielder Gael Bigirimana.

Tavernier signs new three-year deal at Newcastle: The 20-year-old defender hopes that this season will be his breakthrough one at NUFC and is targeting a run in the Europa League qualifiers

Newcastle are close to finalising the signing of French defender Mathieu Debuchy this week, reports The Metro.

Despite Lille declining the Magpies’ original £5 million bid for the 26 year old, an improved offer could see Debuchy on his way to St James’ Park.

However, Inter Milan are the latest club to be interested in Debuchy, and could make a late attempt to disrupt the deal as their right back Maicon is subject to speculation regarding a move to Champions League winners Chelsea.

With Maicon believed to be on his way to Stamford Bridge for £6 million, the money would be used by Inter to directly replace the Brazilian with Debuchy, who impressed for France despite his teams disappointing Euro 2012 campaign.

The Lille right back is still on holiday, but will have some decision making to do when he comes back as Inter could offer him a better package financially, despite the relentless interest from Alan Pardew’s Newcastle.

Danny Simpson’s failure to renew his contract at St James Park means Newcastle’s quest to find a right back is well into full swing, and signing Debuchy would mark the start of two or three more new arrivals, as the club have also been strongly linked with FC Twente striker Luuk De Jong.

I was just looking at the galleries from today on the official website and i saw in one or two of the pictures that Lovenkrands was training with them. Does this mean hes staying or what

Believable2 Unbelievable2

No. He's just training with us till he finds a new club.

Agree4 Disagree0

Hes not staying, he has not got a contract anymore, but the club are allowing him to train with the team to keep up his fitness

Agree3 Disagree0

No, he'll just be training with the club to keep his fitness up until he finds a new club.

Agree1 Disagree0

He's training with NUFC until he finds another club

Agree1 Disagree0

Has probably been given permission to train with them, and later the reserve team, until he finds himself a new club.
Thats my guess anyways.

Agree1 Disagree0

Probably let him train there for free unpaid untill he finds another club..arsenal do it quite a lot.......

Agree1 Disagree0

I imagine he's just training with us until he finds a new club, similar to when he was training with rangers before he signed for us. Definetely been released

Agree0 Disagree2

He mite get a new 1 year deal, if he impresses thoug

Agree1 Disagree1

He is joining Birmingham City, there for a medial

Newcastle have apparently joined Sunderland in the race of signing the young Man City striker John Guidetti (20) of Sweden who'd been on loan to Feyenoord last season and scored 20 goals in 23 games. However interest is thought to be high from top clubs around the major leagues in Europe.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Guidetti will go to Italy if he moves. He has relatives there and love serie A and would fit that league sadly much better.

Agree1 Disagree0

We were interested and wll monitor but his price will go beyond what we will pay for him. Good Talent though.
