Well looks like we get noone in...again! I'm all for the clubs stance on finances but we show an unbelievable lack of ambition. Where is our new RB, CB and Striker we so desperately need for this long long season? I'm dissappointed but not surprised that we dont seem to want success again this season
Believable13
Unbelievable3
Agree. fear this is the start of the us losing our top players. and were is all the money
Agree0
Disagree1
Another wasted transfer window when we all no we needed more players
Agree1
Disagree0
We have the same side as last season with the exception of Anita for Guthrie which is positive..ALL fans know if 2 defenders had been signed we would have probably been happy as long as the to Demba's stay fit
Yes lack of ambition and holding onto Ashley's money..But the team can do OK but 5th with the squad we have will be too much..
Agree1
Disagree0
Cant believe our lack of ambition, other teams who were just behind us have improved their squads so on that basis they should finish just ahead of us, i would rather have had debuchy than anita, hope he at least tries him at left back and santon at right back.....prediction 9th
Agree0
Disagree0
Are we going to hear the same moaning minnies as when AC left.
Only 2 games in, for heavens sake give them a chance and our support
Agree1
Disagree0
Well heres for a long season , even longer come january window fat ash will end up selling top players and give us a bigger mountain to climb
Agree0
Disagree0
I am a little disappointed, but not overly. The long term sustainability of the club is most important.
If we had started to throw extra millions at the Debuchy deal, the Douglas deal and the de Jong deal every club we approached would have said, NUFC are good for squeezing an extra couple of million out of. Where would it stop?
I believe walking away from deals that we could not get across the line at the boards valuation is the correct thing to do. This is exactly what happened with Papiss Cisse.

I met Ashley (seemed like a nice bloke) in April and he assured me that we would get the defence sorted in this window as the club didn't fancy Simpson or Williamson, sadly this has been proven to be untrue. We desperately need a right back, centre half and striker. It would also be goo to see another attacking midfielder. Disappointing to say the least!
Agree0
Disagree0
The deal for Debuchy, Douglas et al obviously wasn't right as I'm sure Ashley would have improved the defence if it were possible. He's not daft, he sees what we see.
I suspect he thinks we can manage until January and then see if Lille are ready to deal. If not, we'll have another target identified in the mean time.
No need to panic - we have the same + Anita that won 8 out of the last 10 games last season.

Agree0
Disagree0
You met ashley and like him? well you must be related the blokes a pr1ck tighter than 2 coats of paint he wont take us any further so i wish he would sell up and go i hate him
Agree0
Disagree0
I met Ashley twice he is a kn*b and has no idea about football..He does not want high profile and is at NUFC for monetary gain. He would accept a high premiership place and CL as long as he has not to pay for it..So he has what he wants a team that will be an also ran and pick up the 70% increase in TV at the end of this season..What lot of money this person is going to make..It is a Disgrace,
Agree0
Disagree0
Ashley in it for monetary gain? Ha ha you owe him 140m for heavens sake. Plus its hard to sell a club that has no major finance to fall back on. Ie own your ground so you can remortgage etc

Is this the same player who would only play for liverpool, watch out next transfer window.
Agree0

Very true mate a wasted chance ,well done Spurs imo.
Agree0
Disagree0
Good player but £6m for a player who is nearly 30 (and massive wages) is not great business in my opinion and certainly doesn't fit our policy. In 2 or 3 seasons he would be worth nothing at all - could be £15m trickling down the drain over 3 years, including the wages.

Really worried about the lack of trasnfers, I wonder what the Toon players would say. Bigirimana in £1 mill, Anita in £6.7 mill amalifitano free and Good £600k. 3 of them are not first teamers nor have they pleyed in decent enough leagues. The season has bearly started and R.Taylor is out. Tavernier to cover but the pressure will be immence on him and Good if we sustain injuries to our centre halfs. Then we will be saying they are crap and the goals scored will mean nothing when they start flooding into our net. I honestly cannot believe the backing from the board has been so small. Panick buying worked last time Ba is quality. Blackburn, QPR, Swansea, A Villa, Everton, Norwich, West Ham and Stoke all spent more than we have. Its simple now spend and stay up or dont and run the very likely risk of going down. Going down did us the world of good last time to sort out the mess the club was in, but going down again would be catestrophic! January I hope is a lot busier as the players would be very tired and will be looking for support!

With Man c signing Maicon what about us trying to Micah Richards buy or loan until next transfer window. Would give us time to get deal done and can cover a cntre half as well. Wages maybe the problem would help his england chances playing every week.
COME ON ASHLEY BUY SOMEONE QUICK.
We most have spent the least money in this transfer window in premiership even Blackburn in Championship have spent more money

However, expect Tiote, Cabaye or Ba to leave... at this moment it looks like the Debuchy saga will cost us (IMO) our best player (Cabaye).

If the Toon do not sign anyone this window it is a MASSIVE missed opportunity to join the top 4 chasers. Pardew happy if we dont lose anyone? Grow some balls man and demand 3 quality signings to push us forward. Shows total lack of ambition from Fat Mike. We pushed last season but now look at the teams around us,L/pool,Everton,Chelsea. ALL strengthened and all improved. Us? Stand still and go backwards. Before the " could be like Pompey,Leeds,Rangers " brigade get started, lets just say that Pardews comment "" We are going for champions league places"" makes everyone look stupid. I hope im wrong and we bring the 3 players we need in but im not holding my breath. Sell up Fat Mike, we want our club to move on.
Believable6
Unbelievable3
Completely agree and what does the lack of ambition say to our best players?
Agree0
Disagree0
It's not pardew's fault he's doing the best he can with the stupid system Ashley uses and anyway I don't know why you're suddenley expecting us to get top 4 we had one good season that means nothing plenty of teams have done that and then faded away it's more important that we keep our stars and build a foundation for future greatness that chase the unachievable now because that's what happened to arsenal they kept just missing out on the good stuff and look what happened they lost their 2 best players stop being so unrealistic it's not happening any time soon
Agree0
Disagree0
Some of you make me sick, calling for MA to sell up, give your heed a shake we have never been run so well if we don't buy this window it means we have not
paid over the odds, what do you want us to do spend money we don't have and end up like Leeds or Pompey personS
Agree0
Disagree0
I agree, i miss the Freddie shepherd era. We need to return to paying clubs what they want for average players, who don't even want to play for the club. Don't panic, there's plenty of time to waste a few million quid. Has heskey signed for anyone yet?

Ryan Babel is available on a free transfer after he was released by Hoffenheim. We were linked with him this window already. I think he'd be a good signing for back-up as he's versatile, he can play on the wings or up front. What do you guys think?
Believable5

He is rubbish !

Nah, he's a troublemaker. He's also shown at Liverpool and now Hoffenheim, that he blows hot and cold. He's just another Obertan.

There will be no new players. The momentum from last season has gone. It will be a long slog to January with our depleted squad.

I think people have a short memory with regards to Babel. He was worse than useless at Liverpool. Ask there fans if they would have him back and see there reaction

Pardew says he's going to have a word with Ashley to get one more player in as Ryan Taylor was injured. we'll either get Debuchy as Madrid have not bid for him, or we'll get Douglas.
Believable8
Unbelievable10
Surely the injury to ryan must mean debuchy. extra 1m and get it done. we could mess around a bit beofre and try to get the best deal. now we just need quality in through the door.
Agree0
Disagree0
Or we will get nobody we supposedly bid for De Jong, Carroll, Debuchy and Douglas why have we not signed any of them? if the bids were genuine surely we needed them then so why not now this transfer window has been disappointing unless we get one or two in today I feel we have missed an oppurtuinty to push on this season. I know we aren't going to get superstars but to bring in only one targe in Anita is disappointing in the extreme. The squad is thin with more games no real striker cover still short of a centrehalf and weve had a net spend of around £2m,
Agree0

Why would we get a cetre back (Douglas) to replace a player who's injured that can play as a full back or winger or even centre mid (Raylor)? Dont be stupid man!

Pardew said he will speak to chairman tonight after Taylor got injured ( post match interview). We need a natural left back before Taylor was injured, santon is class but is a better right back. 2 or 3 signings and we could be really strong on all fronts. Neil Taylor from swansea would be a good signing and I know Newcastles transfer policy but we can't find very good players that are really cheap all the time. I'm not saying go back to spending massive money on waste like Owen but we need more depth and everyone knows it. Oh and before everyone slags off our performance tonight we where without 6 first teamers and we are in the next round so be happy that all the work we did last season was worth it

Whilst i didn't particularly want AC back, (I'd prefer Remy) he really needs to get himself some new advisors.
If he listens to Kevin Nolans advice then he should stop right now. That is two moves he has made, both with disaster written all over them. At least he's got his drinking buddy back.
West Ham will still go down as they have some awful players. They have also spent a lot of money on average dross. Will Allardyce ever learn.
