Ed20 any news if we have placed a bid or upped are bid as some have reported for Nzogbia. I've seen reports he won't come back and others stating we r in the pole position with him wanting to return and having recommended the club to cabaye. Any info on the bid or belief in his interest/non interest in returning. Any other winger targets your aware of. thanks

{Ed020's Note - Well, as far as Im aware it was wages that stalled the last "attempt" at N'Zogbia. So im sceptical. But he does want to return and all the French players arriving are surely strengthening that? As for other wingers, Im not sure considering we have HBA, Jonas, Marveux, Barton, Furguson and possibly N'Zogbia who could all play wide. Strikers seem to be the priority now.

just been on holiday with Dennis Wise and he is still working behind the scenes with Ashley - no big signings coming in - looking at French 'potentials' as well as bringing academy players through - carrol money is in installments and basically will pay debts owed. Club is trying to offload number of player to reduces wage bill ( couple stating want to stay - this is to force clubs hand re payments for not requesting transfer) - Pardrew looking also at Scottish league and championship - Billy Sharp has had early tals, and also Vassel. Contact made with Bellamy's agent but player won't even consider talks. Given also sounded out re return to pacify fans. Says Ashley happy just to keep team in premier for second year and reduce the outlay which will help stabalise the clubs books.

NUFC to name 3 new signings in next 3 weeks or so one player will be Erdinc the second is barnetta the 3rd one is being kept under wraps like the Cabaye deal so no team tries to high jack the bid loads of names flying around as who but your guess would be as good as mine we should have all transfers done for mid august for start of the PL.

Newcastle Out Of Race for Sturridge

Newcastle United won t be making a bid to sign Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge.

The club were reported earlier this week to be one of four Premier League sides said to be interested in signing the 21-year-old but a source at the club said today: The manager is looking into other players, so it is unlikely Sturridge will be coming to Newcastle.

Sturridge scored eight goals in 12 games during a loan spell at Bolton Wanderers in the second half of the season and the striker is said to be interesting Bolton again, as well as Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion; however, reports today suggest that Chelsea have told Stoke that Sturridge will cost them ?Ç£20 million if they want to sign him on a permanent basis.

Newcastle Interested In Argentine Martinez

One player said to be a target for the Toon is Argentine striker Juan Manuel Martinez. The 25-year-old Velez Sarsfield front-man was voted Footballer In The Year in Argentina last year after scoring 10 goals in 19 games in the country s Apertura , the first half of the Argentinian season.

Prior to that he had scored just six goals in 91 league games for Velez and while it is not known if his nickname of Little Donkey dates from that particular period, he had been shunted out on loan to Cucuta in Colombia and Al-Shabab in Saudi Arabia.

Martinez was said to be a target for Blackburn earlier this year, but no bid materialised and he is now said to be interesting both Newcastle and Wigan Athletic.

Erdinc Hopes Take A Blow

Newcastle s hopes of signing Paris Saint-Germain striker Mevlut Erdinc have taken a knock with the news that the French side are hoping to use the Turkey international as makeweight in a bid for Lille s Eden Hazard.

The 20-year-old Hazard has been linked with a move away from the French double-winners though expected bids from Italy or from Arsenal have yet to materialise. Now, PSG are hoping to capture Hazard with a bid of 31 million euro (?Ç£27 million) plus Erdinc, who Newcastle were said at the weekend to be hoping to sign for around ?Ç£6.5 million.

PSG were recently taken over by a Qatari investment company and are expected to spend big this summer, but the sheer size of the reported bid for Hazard has taken French football by surprise and will no doubt worry Toon boss Alan Pardew after it seemed likely that Erdinc would sign for Newcastle.

being interested in martinez from argentina maybe good news as regards keeping enrique/jonas and collocini.
enriques always said he wanted to see who we brought in before deciding on new contract, bringing in another spanish speaking international must give us some hope of him staying.what do you think Ed? {Ed020's Note - Your probably right there, You've seen how well Enrique, Colo and Gutierrez get on in training and in games so Martinez would most likely be just another friend is suppose. As for Enrique, if I was the Board I would be concentrating on keeping Enrique just as much as signing a new player}

Dear Mr Ashley,

According to the Evening Chronicle we are not after Sturridge WHY NOT?? It even states bidding will start from only £6m. Surely of all the clubs reputed to have an interest in him he would choose us.

I just don't understand why we would pay more for a Turk who is untested in the PL in Erdinc rather than soemone who has shown he can not only score goals but be a constant threat, and he is English.

French media are reporting that PSG accepted a bid of around 7.5m euros for Erdinc last night. Newcastle are going after him rathe than Wickham due to the price and his experience at a young age.

Also, Martinez of Velez would be a good signing, bu the source is the Daily Star. . .

Lewis McGugan and Nigel Reo-Coker are free agents, I could bring to the team, at least macgugan who is young and can improve.

alan smith if sold, and come macgugan free and Reo-Coker will be good business, both are better than smith, what do you think?
