Just been to an event hosted by steve Wraith, he's the guy close to the players, remember when carroll left Wraith showed the texts from carroll stating he didn't want to leave. Well tonight he has told us he's been tipped of that j.defo is close to a 7.5m move to nufc. This guy knows a lot of staff and players and apparantley the erdinc deal is a smoke screen as it failed 2 weeks ago from the fall out with his agent over a bonus payment that he's due from psg..
Believable16

Hope so deadly infront of goal just didn't have the best of seasons last season but wasn't helped by injuries and struggled to keep a 1st team spot but when he plays week in week out he is quality.

Ba and defo with ben arfa Barton cabaye looks good to me, rather go for a striker with perm experience and he ticks all the boxes for me
Agree0
Disagree0
Bbc gossip page shows that the sun feel the same way. Makes me dout it. Althouh i would love it to be true.
Agree0
Disagree0
Yes i know steve myself and he is close to members of staff, defoe would be a quality signing, erdinc a think will come in too. o you have any other info, when the transfer is went to go through be revieled etc ?
Agree0
Disagree0
Prem experience lol not perm ha ha know what you mean tho What you reckon to this rumour Ed ??
{Ed042's Note - The Sun carried the story, says a lot really.. actually a fan of Defoe, think hes lethal given service, and he is not guaranteed first team football next season, getting to the age where he will want to play every week, could be why hes linked, because hes available and it saves a sun journalist from actually leaving the office and doing his job, would be very surprised if it was true.. but would be happy if we did get him instead of Erdinc, better player}
Agree0
Disagree0
Yes I know Steve and he is a KNOB
Agree0
Disagree0
Not sure how I'd feel about signing Defoe. Not the youngest, or particularly prolific, his career scoring record is really nothing to shout about.. On the other hand he's better than what we have.
Agree0
Disagree0
A friend was in a shop yesterday (unnamed) and made a comment about a certain product,
the guy replied "yeah all the sports stars are endorsing them, just sold one to j.defoe, oops"
then a bit banter but apparently he's up here, why buy from up here for delivery to london??
said shop is very close to newcastle
Agree0
Disagree0
Wraith is full of crap. He did know Carroll and Carroll used him to falsely put over his story that he didn't want to go to LFC. Carroll is a liar, and Wraith is a gullible fool. He knows fook all about what goes on behind closed doors. As for blokes in shops on £6 an hour., do me a favour. READ MY LIPS WE WON'T BE BUYING DEFOE FOR SO SO MANY REASONS. I SAID THAT ABOUT THE ZOG AND I'M SAYING IT AGAIN ABOUT JD. StteveToon
Agree0
Disagree0
Utter bull, Defoe will want more than 40k a week
Agree0
Disagree0
I am a fan of defoe he turns 29 in jan. i thought we were going for the young age. but id take him, he still has alot to prove and he has got great pace, which could help us out. i would like to see edric come in any way, ba defoe and edric, will be compation for every1
Agree0
Disagree0
I agree with 'angry' stevetoon, we've got more chance of signing Jermaine Jackson....
Agree0
Disagree0
I do agree that the story about the guy in the shop is a little far fetched, (he's more than £6 an hour it think lol, its his business)
but why would he make it up you know? i dont think he will sign, and never did as it doesnt fit within ashley's "policies" but they guy wouldnt just pull it out of fresh air.
just sayin
Agree0

I think people on ere will stop posting things they have heard before long cos of the few morons who still continue to have a go ast anything anyone says
Agree0
Disagree0
If all people are posting is 2nd rate paper talk then they shouldn't bother. We all read the papers and the transfer websites. This forum should be for those rare occasions when someone hears something from a reliable source. Banter, desires and wishlists should be on the banter site. The tidal wave of false rumours and paper talk on this site devalues any real rumours which are posted. SteveToon
Agree0

Steve Wraith the players friend, load of old crap, Carrol devo wanted to leave as he is a gready %$*&%. Same as Nolan.Defoe has ruled out the toon within the last hour

Not sure what to make of this supposed deal for erdinc. Im sure we were saying it was a done deal last month. Anywho if we dont get him i think we should make a serious double swoop on Chelski for Sturridge and P.Aanholt. Prefferbly buy em or loan with first dibs.
Believable16

Yes, why?
Agree0

Must be 12 as he doesnt quite know the difference between who and how quite yet haha... BANTER

What, were you older than 12 when you learned the difference between "who" and "how" like?
Agree0

No people, he mean 'anywho'. it's when you purposely spell something incorrectly to accentuate the pronunciation, pour example- 'am gannin oot' or 'hew man ya div'........ it's called the 'phonetic spelling'

It musn't be close. It's always talk talk and talk
Believable7
Unbelievable2
Did he score?
Agree0

To be fair Enrique is in America and he's on the verge of leaving toon, so probably shouldn't look too much into Erdinc playing for Paris. Plus PSG have recently bought new players that probably havn't joined the squad yet. Still think he'll be our next signing....... I once thought I got 5 and the bonus and that turned out to be wrong an all like.....

26 Jul 2011 20:50:26
Erdin has signed pre contract agreement at Newcastle United. Deal will go through after 1st August when he receives his bonus from PSG.
Believable8
Unbelievable11
Not likely - pre-contracts are only needed if the player isn't able to sign a proper contract i.e. in the last few months of a contract before being available on a free. If you're going to make it up, at least research the legalities. Dom.
Agree0
Disagree0
So what your saying is, on moday the 1st august 2011 on news, website, bbc sport website, nufc blog, newcastle united offical website, PSG website and any other sport site will have the news that edric has joined newcastke for 7.5m, or has even agreed to join. some how i dout that very much

9M for crouch, I would rather we spent some of that toward signing Long. He's younger and has room to grow, Crouch is the finished product and not likely to get any better. Plus Longs goal scoring record isn't half bad, not proven it the top league i know. But looks promising.
Believable13
Unbelievable6
You say Long is young and "has room to grow" but come on, he'll never grow as tall as crouch

Just pulling a few names to get some people thinking. It's obvious the squad needs a bit of strengthening so opinions on these players and positions would be welcome.
Goalkeeper - I feel in this area we are fine, we could possibly loan out Forster for a season then let him and Krul battle it out for number one next season.
Right back - Seems to be a shaky area would love to see Clyne come in to give Simpson a push and a bit of competition let Perch go out on loan and hope he comes back better.
Centre back - Its a simple of case of one in one out now that we have lost Sol we should be looking around to find cover for the 3 we have possible move for Upson would be decent maybe Onouha to cover RB and CB
Left back - Its all to clear that we are going to lose Enrique, Bridge would be adequate but for the future I'd look at Van Aanholt and M'Bengue
Right Midfield - With Routledge on his way out a cheeky swap deal with Gradel could be the ticket as Gradel is young and loves to take people on. Jeffren from Barcelona could be a steal at £5m should be looked at. In terms of the rest of the midfield we seem to have enough quality maybe cover for Tiote as he is certain to be suspended.
Strikers - Crouch would be a decent enough signing for about £4m however the £9m Spurs are asking for is borderline crazy. Defore would be another acquisition who could be brilliant with Ba if the price is right. Erdinc is virtually nailed on and I expect Long may arrive if we can do a deal with Reading which is beneficial for both teams however I do feel Ranger deserves a chance.
Other Considerations - Gio Dos Santos and Aquilani could be long shots but worth a punt as is Kranjcar, Bendtner and Chamakh (possible deal with Enrique??).
Would really like opinions and thoughts.
Believable18
Unbelievable5
Lets be honest there is no way we will sign the 6 players you are saying we need. and i agree we do need them but i see 3.. tops Few injurys (already guthrie, HBA, Ferguson, Col and tiote both picked up knocks in the Orlando game too) this season and we are done for.
Agree0
Disagree0
I wouldn't like to be pessimistic but I feel we need some extra players however I can only see us signing free's
Agree0
Disagree0
Sunderland supporter come in peace, I have a feeling that Enrique will have a re think, don't think there is the level of intrest in him as his agent has told him, good for you's as he is quality. What you really need is a decent striker, ba has knees made of glass, if you can get sturridge on loan your sorted.
Agree0
Disagree0
Agreed mate, Ba and Sturridge would be quality but we need strength on the bench maybe Hooper for Shola, wouldn't mind the toon looking at Kayal and Izaguirre
Agree0
Disagree0
Fair enough you saying all this, but its just not going to happen is it
Agree0
Disagree0
All these players you have mentioned i have said in the past on this site i would have, good post mate
Agree0
Disagree0
It's just moves that I feel could and should be made, the only solid rumour is Wayne Bridge and I'd rather not blow £8m on a player, if it was the right price it wouldn't be too bad
Agree0
Disagree0
I'd love us to sign Kranjcar, seriously he is an excellent player and he is being completely wasted at Spurs, though if Modric does go he'll probably get more first team football. Another problem with Kranjcar is the price Harry has put on him, £12m I think it was and its putting clubs off.
All that aside, we'll never get him.
Agree0
Disagree0
Kranjcar would be a good signing play in the middle with cabaye

Any reliable outs for Newcastle? Is Smith really staying? (nutcase)
Believable0

Yes because no other club is moronic enough to pay his astronomical wages, positive side is only another £2, 880,000 or so left to pay him
Agree0

26 Jul 2011 19:13:45
How can we sign crouch and defoe? They will want more than our wage cap allows, they won't have any resale value and are already proven Won't happen sorry lads

We wont, loan maybe.

newcastle to sign dimitar berbartov for 8.5 million and patrick van ahnholt for 2.5 with enrique going to arsenal for 8 million
Believable3
Unbelievable9
This is a noncense. Berbatov came in Man United for 30 miliion pounds and then they will sell him for 8.5 milions? I don't think so.
Van Aanholt? Excellent talent, who has to leave Chelsea if he really want to save his career. For 2.5 milions bring him to Newcastle. He would be right solution for LB.

Have a day off d-bag

Newcastle United will announce the signing of one of the biggest names in English football on Friday.
The hush-hush deal will have our fans delighted and really push home the Toon's ambitions.
The Mackem's will be outraged at our new signing especially as I say the new player is one of the biggest names in the Premiership.
Believable5

"Big signing going to happen on Friday".....heard it too many times before.
Agree0

That's what I like to hear, a brilliantly vague rumour, that tells us nothing. Just a thought, who is the the player with the longest (biggest - are you with me) name in the premier league?
Agree0
Disagree0
OOOOHHHH another massive announcement on a Friday. Will it be as big as the last one which was lauded on this site. How exciting. Except, like the last "friday massive announcement" it's just another piece of nonsense from a person with nothing new to say. SteveToon

Agree0

There will 2 signings until now and end of transfer .. it would be striker in the age bracket below 26, but proven and in the price tag of 10 to 15 m .. and a left back .. these are 2 most important positions were we are vulnerable now..anything more if we sign is a bonus like right winger...we need a out and out right winger.. stop posting crap load saying the deal will struck on Friday and so on ..We are always on top of makems ..loosers will be loosers (5-1)
Agree0

................plays for one of the "blue chip" clubs in the Premiership and is a forward.Negotiations are ongoing with his agent and he things are on track for a Friday announcement.

Defo and his agent are in talks with Newcastle united in a £7.5 million switch crouch did get looked at but no more interest than that I am not an Newcastle supporter but I think this would be a excellent signing as he is a proven goal scorer in the premier league for you guys good look for the season every one wants to see you guys bk up there with us top 5 clubs in europe
Believable8
Unbelievable8
Ha ha ha. "Us top 5 clubs". Who else would say "top 5". Clearly a Spuds fan hoping his club are getting rid of their failures. Defoe was abysmal for Spuds last season. NUFC would have him on a free loan for a season but that's about it. SteveToon

Defoe and Crouch being looked at. Chroniclelive.co.uk
Believable18
Unbelievable15
Were looked at (past tense) and quickly discounted due to cost and age. I could imagine a loan deal for Defoe at a push because that's the sort of striker(ish) that we're in the market for. But only if we hit a brick wall with other, younger, European targets. Dom.
Agree0
Disagree0
To be honest, Defoe and Crouch would not be a bad starting strike force. I would rather see sturridge and Rondon though, but hey, beggers can't be choosers...

Defoe probably, Crouch probably not, Defoe and crouch defo not

On arsenal blog they reckon it will be Enrique for bentner straight swap or Enrique for gibbs on loan with around 10+ mill would not mind the bentner deal . Opinions?
Believable16
Unbelievable12
Personally I am not a big fan of Bentner but others may say otherwise. I think he would spit his dummy out if things didn't go his way
Agree0
Disagree0
I'd prefer the Bendtner swap as if we got a fee for Enrique it would probably just end up in the fat controllers back pocket.
Agree0
Disagree0
Gibbs has potential but hasnt played a handful of games without getting injured for about 2 years now
Agree0
Disagree0
I think Bentner would be a real asset, reminds me of Malcome Mcdonald, he would be an icon if he came to us, but will he move North...
Agree0
Disagree0
Bendtners nothing like Macdonald at all. But I do agree a swap would be better than losing the money into the "pot". Do we need someone with such a crap attitude though. Big problem getting London players North as well. SteveToon

Not only is Pardew after Bridge from City he wants Onuoha as well as he can play anywhere across the back four and even a holding role in midfield.
Believable22
Unbelievable11
I dont think either of them 2 would be a bad idea for newcastle, after all we need the defensive cover from Onuha, and Bridge has experience and is at the peak age for a left back, hopefully we'll get £10m for Jose who has spat the dummy out
Agree0
Disagree0
Wouldn't want Wayne Bridge and theres no way we could afford his wages but Onouha would be a good addition to the squad and would give Simpson some much needed competition.
Agree0
Disagree0
Yeah i agree with this as well not to sure about bridge but wouldn't mind him for about 3m and onouha *spelling would be a good addition even if it was season loan with option to buy
Agree0
