Ed have you heard anything on the transfer front, are newcastle close to making any signings?

{Ed042's Note - Latest is Pieters agent has confirmed our serious interest and thinks a deal can be struck, also that we have bid for Cissokho but is under the fee they want}

Ssn we are interested in Kevin Doyle. SteveToon...

Believable10 Unbelievable7

That would be good if it was actualy true. they would want more than £3mil so that kinda rules us out........

Agree0 Disagree0

Also im watching ssn and theres nowt bowt it at all. kinda think u have just made it up? if i was going to lie i would at least make it sum 1 gud.

Agree0 Disagree0

Moron imposter strikes again. Clearly envious of my wider intellect and knowledge of local football.......SteveToon (the real one)

Agree0 Disagree0

Seen about 50 posts from stevetoon, a lot of people have commented that his stories have no credibility at all, wonder if hes just posting to keep the website/gossip moving, just a thought........

Agree0 Disagree0

I think SteveToon is just trying to defend himself, he makes these rumours up and then makes out it aint him lol

Agree0 Disagree0

You're being very unfair on the real SteveToon. His posts are brilliant. Pithy, funny and very knowledgable. The imposters are clearly jealous of his wit and intellect.....Bendigo

Agree0 Disagree0

Id be happy to see a goat with black stripes painted on it playin up front itd have better balance than shola for a start

Lyon president confirms €10 million bid for cissokho

Believable10 Unbelievable5

Whats the source mate?

{Ed042's Note - Lyon themselves confirmed bid was made, didnt give a figure though, said it was under the fee they would accept, in fact said it was around half but by demeanor in which it was said suggested there may be a middle ground, wernt offended by it, just said it wasnt enough}

Agree0 Disagree0

But was it us that bid? Why don't we just bid £8m?

Agree0 Disagree0

He says that we have bid half of what it cost them which I believe was £14m. Ed can you confirm that we have bid £7m?

{Ed042's Note - Logical conclusion to come to mate, cant confirm exact bid because it wasnt said how much we bid}

Agree0 Disagree0

Spec going around that its manu that has bid the ten million

{Ed042's Note - Why when they have Evra and Fabio?}

Agree0 Disagree0

If we bid half of what they paid, which would be £7 million, surely there's no reason why we cant bid that amount for Pieters then?

{Ed042's Note - I would imagine it is because Cissokho would have higher sell on potential, bigger profit}

Agree0 Disagree0

In reality if we cant bid high enough for cissokho we wont get him , does that then mean Pieters wont want to come as he will feel 2nd choice, I know i would feel miffed if it were me.

Agree0 Disagree0

I bet Fatty is rolling around the floor in kinks reading about all these offers.

Ed have you heard anything on JB's replacement i'v heard we are interested in kranjcar or jenas but i dont think we will be making any more transfers

{Ed042's Note - Paper talk, very unlikely we will sign a replacement for Joey mate, no need, we have plenty of good midfielders already}

Believable7 Unbelievable4

Gosling will slot in the gap don't forget about guthrie still to come back from injury

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers ed {Ed042's Note - No worries mate}

Agree0 Disagree0

Good point and westill have ben arfa to come back

Agree0 Disagree0

And there's still Ben Arfa to comeback too, although would rathere JB stayed.

Agree0 Disagree0

What we going to do in two months tho when there injured again, Guthrie is terrible anyway

Agree0 Disagree0

We kind of do have a new signing to replace and thats dan gosling

my dad works at the radio station and they were arranging a sponsered golf day and steve harper they asked steve harper to host it and he said he coudnt becasue he was looking for a new club becasue mike ashley was pushing him out

Believable8 Unbelievable21

I see the mackems are back following their dismal showing on saturday.

Agree0 Disagree0

No im geordie i swear this is true it was a charity golf day and steve harper said he coudnt do it because he is looking for a new club becasue he has been told he wont play again

Agree0 Disagree0

Shut up fool, why would he tell him that, he would just say he had plans/was busy, he wouldn't give info out to any tom person or harry, go back to your hole and think up some believable dross

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you not realize he is on about golf club

Agree0 Disagree0

Im a too fan and i have heard there was 6 players who are furious the way ashley is running the club
1.HARPER
2.NOLAN[LEFT]
3.BARTON[LEAVING]
4.ENRIQUE[LEFT]
5.SIMPSON[WANTS TO LEAVE]
6.GUTIERREZ[WANTS OUT]

Agree0 Disagree0

Highly doubt that harper is getting pushed out the club and a thing the reason we will not be see much of him on the pitch could be to do with the fact we have the worlds number 1 international teams goal keeper in tim krul so to really say so if harper stays are gos not like it would make much of a difference would it really

Agree0 Disagree0

I can see this being true. Ashley will not want to pay someone 30k+ per week to sit on the bench...

Agree0 Disagree0

Im hearing that NUFc will not be bringing in any replacement for JB. Instead they will be replacing him in the team with Gosling......Not good....JKM,Spenny

Believable7 Unbelievable5

Seems perfectly reasonable to me as long as we buy a lb and striker

Agree0 Disagree0

Very good in fact.

{Ed042's Note - Was wondering about why not good myself.. no doubt Joey is a good player but Obertan, Marveaux & Gosling all fighting it out for starting spot, theres been worse scenarios clubs have found themselves in to be fair}

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest if gosling lives up to what footballing people think he can be we should not have a problem at all and he gosling will be a much better player than barton..ed042 what do you think..

{Ed042's Note - Came with a reputation as a cracking prospect for the future, a lot of people from Everton and elsewhere spoke very highly of him.. have been impressed with what little I have seen of him so far, hopefully realizes the potential, if so be a great player in future for us}

Agree0 Disagree0

Someone hasn't paid attention to pre season.
Pro Gosling

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree that gosling has the talent but the lad has only played 10 minutes of competitive football in nearly 2 years, i dont think we can pin all our hopes on him because I belive we will struggle to keep him fit

Agree0 Disagree0

Gosling was good in preseason and I was worried he would not get much of a chance so maybe this is a blessing in disguise. Hopefully we will see him tomorrow night. Also with Joey's wages off the books maybe it will help push through the deals we are currently working on or is that too optimistic Ed?

{Ed042's Note - Was my thinking on it too mate, should mean we have 60K extra to increase wage offers on bids out there}

Agree0 Disagree0

If anything we have plenty of midfield cover so Barton doesn't need replacing.

Put his wages towards a decent forward.

Agree0 Disagree0

I only said it wasnt good for the reason that JB is a proven good player if a little mad and DG has had a lot of injury problems and hasnt proved he can cut the mustard yet. Plus im not sure if he has the grit of JB and dont see him as the ideal replacement although i would be more than happy to be proved wrong on this occasion. I like DG but doubt he will stay injury free....JKM,Spenny

Barton confirmed it on twitter. He's leaving NUFC. "Going for a medical now, still no contract offer from NUFC.......think that just about makes my mind up." "Don't want to leave Newcastle........I've made that clear but my hands are tied."

Believable19 Unbelievable1

Mackem here yeah defo has, been honest stupid letting him go, he maybe a prat but is a decent footballer, you lot shouldn't of let nolan go either. bad times for you

Agree0 Disagree0

Disgraceful. Ashley lost the plot. F off now Ashley

Agree0 Disagree0

Well sometimes out of the frying pan...how will Joey and Warnock get along??

Agree0 Disagree0

No doubt quality player,only QPR in for him? The man has baggage like Newcastle terminal.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why are you reading Newcastle rumours if you are a mackem? You fell the nerves creeping in?... Nolan gone, replaced with Cabaye who are younger and better... Joey might not be replaced, we shall see

Agree0 Disagree0

Not having medical until the morning,hope the club offer him a contract as we need players who show pride to wear the black and white stripes cashley has not got a clue

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't football fans come on and have a bit of banter on other clubs pages without being griefed? but there is always one prat like yourself giving grief. give your head a shake and ask yourself which club is selling it's best players and which club isn't but what has cabaye done? nothing, should of been sent off against us, what did nolan do for you score goals FACT is Cabaye gonna score all the time like nolan did? who knows but I wouldn't expect it in his 1st premiership season was trying to be honest but instead got to put another sad tw*t in his place

Agree0 Disagree0

Whether Barton, considering his age, should have been offered a lengthy contract is debatable. What is not debatable, however is that we did not need to let him leave on a free. If reports are to be believed we are unwilling to meet clubs transfer fees (Pieters, Maiga etc) yet he with the purse strings lets an asset go for free, just cos he got on his nerves. Hardly the actions of a finacially prudent genius as the Ashley supporters would have us believe he is. More the behaviour of a spoily brat who owns all the toys.

Agree0 Disagree0

Honestly I kinda glad he's going. 1 good season. I wasn't shouting his name last season. Raylor on the right me thinks

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes ashley only stood by him when he was in jail. short memories or what.

Agree0 Disagree0

Listen here MACKEM shut it cabaye and nolan are diffrent kind of players and who won the derby and who got knock out of carling cup worry bout your own team d**khead

Agree0 Disagree0

No choice? if he stays he's in the same situation, he's still going to be free.

Agree0 Disagree0

He could of rejected contract talks but no he didnt doesnt that tell u something

Agree0 Disagree0

How doesnt MA realise that Barton is the kind of player we need. Yeah bring in the french for the skill, and technical ability but you just cant beat the passion that Barton has about the club - and honestly, thats what most of us want to see. Iv been supporting MA through this window so far but for me loosing barton, regardless of who we bring in, will just be too much. OFFER HIM A CONTRACT

Agree0 Disagree0

On the offensive over nothing GEORDIE chill out, I was just given my honest opinion on things without taking the mick, but you are making it into a childish game of name calling, put your handbag away and grow up no wonder I loathe fans like you, you got to realise some fans don't mind having decent banter with their rivals fans. funny how the geordie said Cabaye is younger and better than Nolan though? after 2 games. how many years did nolan produce goals in the premiership for bolton and then yourselves? but done with this idiot, if I'm allowed to give my honest opinion, you do have some decent cover for Barton and Nolan but whether Gosling,Cabaye or Marveaux can step up to the challenge and get you plenty of goals I don't think will happen this season and you may struggle, seems like pardew and ashley are taking you lot for a ride. so as i said bad times

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2011 18:35:44
Bartons been on twitter (6.15 pm), saying that as no contract offer is forthcoming from NUFC he's no choice but to have medical at QPR............ there goes another 1 and still no replacements incoming? Is Colo gonna be next?

on the barton situation has he gone to london to hold talks...does he want to go tolondonon..does he want to leave us no doubt we will find out later in the day but not off the chron they talk rubbishe ..geordie tom. ED i know its only weds but are any closer to getting any players in..al us fans are totaly pissed off now...

{Ed042's Note - Joey stories taking up the media as usual so hard to tell but I would expect developments over the next couple of days mate, if I can find names I will update, sussing the legitimacy of a source on FW as well}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Joey7BartonJoseph Barton

Don't want to leave Newcastle........I've made that clear but my hands are tied.

from his twitter account

Agree0 Disagree0

Barton just tweeted his having a medical at QPR he also said he dont wanna leave the toon but theres no contract offer on the table so his hand r tied, wtf ashley your a bigger fool then i first thought

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed wats this talk about Dempsey?

{Ed042's Note - Havnt had a chance to look into yet mate sorry, being lashed out of it with Joey posts ha will update you on it in a bit, initial opinion would be no truth whatsoever, age, wage, settled at Fulham, playing in Europa with them, cant see it tbh}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed is their any news on any good strikers because ive seen maiga play and hes useless

{Ed042's Note - Not sold on him myself mate, especially not for £10m, money better spent elsewhere, hard to get info today because of JB story so nothing of substance at the mo sorry mate}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Im willing to bet 5 english pounds that we wont sign a striker...or a left back...or anybody else

Agree0 Disagree0

Long looking like a deal now...... wish we would have signed him. But no use looking back.Still hoping for new signings but not hopeful.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2011 12:08:16
Sky Sports sources understand that Joey Barton has been given permission to hold talks with Queens Park Rangers. Now this is something i did not want to hera today.

Ed you got any extra info on this, from what i had heard bridges had been mended between barton and the club

{Ed042's Note - He has been and it looks likely tbh mate. He was put on probation and Pards bought him some time but he was never taken off transfer list. Joey will look out for Joey and the club is bigger than any player. Only leaves one end scenario tbh, not a 100% thing just yet though}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

24 Aug 2011 16:48:28
From the toon army to the QPR huddle, why would you want to Joey, except money
Des toon

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Because we havnt offered him a new contract and put him on a free transfer. at the end of the day he has to look after himself and family, qpr will offer him a 4-5 year deal on decent wages. joey cant be blamed if he accept does go.

Just walked past at James and I saw edric walking in It looks like he is are striker I've heard rumours today that we are also going to bid for Steve Davis Going to be good few days. Steve Toon

Believable1 Unbelievable13

Yes, I saw him as well. He was waiting for the 39 bus at Brighton Grove. There's only one SteveToon and he has no space in his name you limp wristed, poor spelling imposter......SteveToon

“Newcastle are thought to be interested in signing Bristol City's Nicky Maynard, with manager Alan Pardew set to offer the Robins £4.5m plus Leon Best.

Footy Online

Believable5 Unbelievable11

Go for it

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he would be good for us, bags of pace?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he is a good young talent but £4.5m and best is near £7.5m so I hardly believe this.

Agree0 Disagree0

Be happy with Maynard looks sharp at the moment good prospect

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love to see us sign Maynard, but not at the expense of Best. Can't we throw in Ranger, Guthrie or Smith and pay the difference. Maynard is certainly the best striker we have been linked with (bar Erding) and would be a credit to our club.

Agree0 Disagree0

I live in Bristol and can tell you city have put a 6mil price tag on Maynard such is his importance to them . this is a rehashed rumour ,wasn't best and 4.5m reportedly turned down previously. Bristol are in deep do do with talk of administration so 5m plus player might do it, would love to see Maynard at the toon much more than miaga , also see talk about a bid for carlton cole now ,jesus i hope not ,would rather we went without .

Agree0 Disagree0

Best wouldn't go

Agree0 Disagree0

Everyone would like us to sign Sturridge, but maynard is just a good in my opinion. A quality talent avaliable at less than 10 million. An absolute bargain when you consider what Connor Wickham went to Sunderland for.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its worth saying that Maynards partner is expecting in next couple of weeks , dont know if he'd want to uproot now.Mind you bigger paypacks do funny things to folk.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wigan supposedly interested in Maynard, you would think Ashley would like to get one over on his enemy whelan by winning the players sig.

Agree0 Disagree0

If maynards partners ready to have baby. we do have excellant midwives up here and as a note think he would be a great addition to our team shows good pace and an eye for goal

Agree0 Disagree0

I WOULD MOST HAPPILY TAKE MAYNARD OVER THE rubbish WE BEEN LINKED WITH ERDINC IS EXTREMELY LAZY MAIGA IS UNPROVEN MAYNARD,SHOLA,BEST,AS TARGET MEN BEN ARFA ,JONAS,OBERTAN AS WIDE MEN

Scott Parker to replace Joey Barton

Mekalos Villaredis.

Believable2 Unbelievable9

I doubt he will come

Ese Butos

Agree0 Disagree0

His family couldn't settle in the North East last time he was up here, so what's changed? Anyway West ham have put a 8 million valuation on him so no chance. Ashley would never pay anywhere near that for a 31 year old with no resale value.

Agree0 Disagree0

Got a point if ashley would spend 8mill plus wages on parker why not just give barton what he wanted and put uop with bartons antics

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2011 15:02:39
Would people stop blaming ashley and pardew .. they didn't allow talks with qpr but as barton was avaidable for free anyone can talk to him. Then qpr notified Nufc just out of respect

Believable4 Unbelievable3

Check your spelling. If Ashley had nt put our most creative player up for free Joey would nt be talking to QPR now. ashley destroying the club selling the best player off and taking the money. As for players coming in just cant see it happening.

Agree0 Disagree0

In defense of above poster who's spelling you told them to check at least they remembered to put in their apostrophes

joey barton on a train to london, for talks with QPR, this is according to a reporter on the same train

yfrog.com/kldzdzumj

Believable3 Unbelievable4

He is gone.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry, but what is the reason for 6-7 different people to come to this site with news that anyone with half a brain can look up himself on newsnow, skysports or some other news site?... Yes JB is in talk with QPR now lets move on.

Agree0 Disagree0

Alrite u div. If we all tought lyk tht thn nowt wud get posted u absolute moron. And also anyone with half a brain wud knw nt to believe everythin tht the news tells us. This post was just to show that JB is definatley on his way to london and was def on his way for talks with QPR original news update only stated he was allowed to talk to QPR nothin stating he was on his way. .

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2011 13:15:50
So Barton Is aloud to talk to QPR, so it he goes, then we need to fill his spot. for once I'd love a big squad. Then we have the left back problem and I can't see anything happening this week. We then have the striker situation and I can't see us getting that guy in that wants to cine. I fan see us just getting one player in.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Stop worrying about the squad and put some thought into your spelling pal. You make the Bash Street Kids look like clever....SteveToon

Diego Forlan given permission to leave, would be amazing signing for NUFC??????

Believable3 Unbelievable8

Forlan stop dreaming, he wouldn't come anywhere near the north east, he would only move to a top four club

Agree0 Disagree0

What are you on?

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, and whilst we're at it, I think Lionel Messi may also be interested in joining Newcastle.

We are not exactly a giant of football any more. We are an average mid table side whose main aim is to avoid getting involved in a relegation battle.

Plus Forlan is too old...

Agree0 Disagree0

He's off to Inter...

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2011 12:27:57
if the deal for maiga falls through which is likly NUFC will go for jelle vossen of genk not a bad play good goals to game ratio and only 22 and availible for around 5m

Newcastle have allowed QPR to hold talks with Joey Barton. - Ridiculous.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Well knew that was coming, if he went was always gonna be for outfit with more money and clearly they have more money and ambition than us. Sadly for Joey he may end up going down a division as think the toon more likely to stay up than QPR. My immediate worry is who replaces Joe as clearly Carroll and Enrique havn't been and is Collo and Jonas next. Very concerned now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nope he was already available on a free nearly any club from Barcelona to birtley town could talk to hin

Agree0 Disagree0

Excellent. Walking time bomb, egocentric and red card magnet. We have Gosling, Marveux and vuksic who barely make the bench to come in. Let him go. He aint all that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gutted best player on our team by far now we have let carroll go nolan go enrique go now barton, whos next jonas or colochini, barton is the heart and soul of that team sort it out pardew

Agree0 Disagree0

It does seem ridiculous given Pardew's recent interview talking about joey being available for Sunday and not for Thursday. That is of course me banking on Pardew knowing what the fat cats are up to upstairs, which obviously i would doubt

Agree0 Disagree0

Out with the alcoholics and nutters. Ranger next hopefully.

Agree0 Disagree0

So he goes the club still lives, give some of the youngsters a go, and we still have gosling, ben arfa and the other new signings, if we get the two we're after we will be alright.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great... he's worth much more than the whole England squad, and we let him go for free... can't see us not getting relegated without Barton

Agree0 Disagree0

So with him and all the other players who left who were on big wages we must have well over 120k/week wages hanging around. With that and a hell of a lot of money from sales we might actually buy a topnotch world class signing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you joking if we were going to sign anyone it would have happened by now. M.A has no intentions of spending any money, he dosent care about the club and the sooner he leaves the better. Every player that has left said they never really wanted to and have been forced out, we are a laughing stock

barton given permission to talk to qpr. what is going on I thought all of this had been resolved. So it looks like our best player will be leaving on a free adn from what I have seen so far this summer I have no confidence that he will be replaced. Plus who is out their who could replace him? scott parker? very much doubt he would come back. i cant think of anyone else who would be good enough/willing to sign for us. anyone fancy having a whip round and buying out MA? ill get the ball rolling and donate a fiver

Ya righr Scotty Parker wouldn't come back but he wouldn't replace barton anyway because we played barton out of position on the right wing. Would like to see another right winger coming in to keep obertan on his toes. With some luck if given a decent chance he could fulfill his potential.

Gosling is a good younger replacement

Im up for the buy out. tell me when are where and i will donate. I am honestly shocked by MA actions this window. 40 odd million and still without key players. out best player is basically being told to leave. MA has just had a profit of something like 200 million in his sports outlet but just will not invest. He could earn a hell of a lot of money out of newcastle if he would invest properly. Him and both his puppets out of our club. never thought id say this but i would love to have freddy shepherd atleast his heart was in the right place when it came to our club. Absoultely gutted i am

Scott parker is no replacement for joey like

Yes Ashley announced a 200 million pound profit for the sports direct empire, but then just a few short weeks later that profit was hit when the stock market went south, and also, the 2 businesses are completely seperate, he could have a billion pound profit on 1, and an even break on the other, doesn't mean hes going to plough money from 1 into the other, hes a clever business man, after all, how many of us on here are multi-millionaires?

Agree0 Disagree0

The fact that he has made multi millions is baffling to me. what kind of business man allows his prize asset to leave for nothing. bit like richard branson swapping necca island for a raleigh burner and a jar of pickled onions. as for the buy out just send the money to my address and ill put it in my money jar, ive raised 7pound so far so spread the word cash only though. any excess raised will be used for me and me missus to go back to primrose caravn park again next summer

Way i see it, with all the speculation on maiga in the media and noises coming from sochaux's camp and pardews lips its perfectly clear that he is our prime target striker wise. This is just my opinion but, i dont think we will consider any other player unless this deal goes dead. Anything else is either made up by desperate fans (ours or otherwise) or the media getting bored with the lack of activity and throwing another name in the mix. If sochaux actually let it go, then maiga WILL be our new striker.. I just hope this will be not become another erdinc saga where its left to the very end and sochaux decide they will not sell him and we are left with nothing. either way still love the toon :)

SSN reporting that Joey Barton is in talks with QPR. Disappointing.

Barton on 60,000 a week if he goes that will pave the way for our transfer targets.

Heard on the radio last night that Sow is available and PSG are trying to sign him.

This means 2 things to me, either we should try and sign Sow or if PSG succeed then Erdinc will move to SJP for the price Dithery Derek wants to pay.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Cant see either happening tbh
