Luke De Jong has said he would like to join newcastle united for the season ahead. Fc Twente and newcastle are just coming to a deal for the young star. seen as newcastle have bidder again for 12 million euros but fc twenty want closer to 15 million euros and don't seem set to budge. rumours are he is a set transfer and he will be signing for about 14 million euros.

You're saying that they won't budge from 15m but a deal of 14m is likely to be the fee??

That's not what he said at all! His agent said he would be willing to speak to Newcastle, after he had already rejected some offers already - there was never any talk of him wanting to sign for us just that he would be willing to listen to what we have to say - if we can reach a deal wiht Twente.

He's more likely to go to Benfica I reckon, would be a quality signing like - Shizz

Newcastle United will be looking to the Italian market this Summer as they look to bring in some talented youngsters from abroad.

The toon are using their links to the French, Dutch and German leauges as a smokescreen to their actual targets.

Expect to see movements in the near future as Newcastle look to sign 3 players from Serie A.

The players being mentioned are Marco Davide Faraoni (Inter Milan RB), Marco Verratti (Pescera Midfielder) and Marco D'Alessandro (Roma Winger).

All potentially good players but I think someone's been playing a little too much Football Manager!

Heard a lot of stories that Leon Best is on his way to BlackBurn. Also that Newcastle have upped their bid for Luuk De Jong to 12million euros. This bid for De Jong has also in the same stories been rejected as FC Twente nothing short of 15million. Now if Leon Best does go to BlackBurn this would suggest to me that Demba Ba will be going no where. Might be wrong though we might end up seeing more strikers coming in. Now the question is if Newcastle's bid has been rejected will they increase their bid again? In my opinion no, Newcastle have an obvious finacial structure in place. I believe if it has been rejected then they will go for striker option #2. Graham Carr has said numerous of times they have back up targets incase their number one priority fails. EG Maiga in January failed so we Got Papiss Cisse instead. (ToonThomas) {Ed026's Note - Makes sense and I don't think De Jong is worth that kind of money IMO. 9.5 million was a fair amount.

Sky sports are reporting they want £12.5 million, which is a lot but the guy is 21, he scored 32 goals last season and 20 the season before that, he clearly has a knack for goalscoring, at 6 foot 2 he would give us another aerial threat which we desperately need from set pieces. At 21 he has the future sell on value that ashley likes in his signings and is already a capped dutch international. I trust Carr and Pardew but this one seems to good an opportunity to miss imo

I agree with Ed in as much as I would'nt want to see us pay more than 9 or 10m for him. Look how good Cisse is and we got him for 8m according to Carr the other day. Also the more we spend on a striker/forward the less we got for defenders and that's what really needs addressing imo.
