the number of 'newcastle haters' on here is becoming pathetic. think about it, why would we part exchange Tiote (arguably our best player) for Berbatov, someone who is older, that we can afford the price tag of with our £35m and our transfer policy is to buy young players with potential and turn them into stars - not buy old and give away our stars.
Also, Bruce highjacking our deal with Cabaye? doubt it mate. Considering he'll be signing as soon as he is back from international duty, after saying he thrives on the chance to play for a team as big as newcastle with such great fans. Something the mackems don't have.

For those of us hoping gervinho will be signing don't get ur hopes up, french press is reporting he will sign for arsenal in the next few days. I thort we had it all tied up but apparantly we havent even fully agreed the fee with lille as we have gone back with another offer of around 12 nd a bit mil? All these deals for top players (gervinho, nzog etc) are all a bit to well known about for me to think theyr guna come off, after all did anyone know about or hear rumours of cabaye, tiote, williamson, gutierez etc b4 they were signed and confirmed by the club? Am i really the only one thinking all these "leaks" and "well connected" individuals are all just a ploy to get fans excited and keep us onside? After all nobodys revealing any sources? Or am i just being paranoid? Suppose i have got man flu and may of had one to many lemsips today :) pd

Newcastle News:

DF-The Enrique deal to Liverpool seems to have died down in recent weeks but I still expect Enrique to move to Anfield as most of their other targets seem to be heading elsewhere. The replacements that have been lined up are Paul Konchesky, Maynor Figueroa, Emilio Izaguirre, Oscar Wendt and Cheikh M'Bengue. One centre back will be signed and Sebastien Bassong seems to be the main target. Matthew Upson and Roger Johnson are also targets.

MD-Cabaye deal is wrapped up but if Barton does leave then another midfielder will be bought. Hitzlberger of West Ham is a target but Newcastle face competition from Stoke and Everton. Reo-Coker is another being looked at and Pratley is also another being touted. One winger will be signed and it will be any two of Barnetta, Larsson, J.Cole, N'Zogbia and Menez.

CF-Up top, the two priorities are Gameiro and Gervinho but those two deals are 50/50. Other targets include Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch, Demba Ba, Obafemi Martins, Carlton Cole and Ricky Van Wolfswinkel. Two strikers will be signed.

Sources Close to me suggest absolutely no Deal surrounding Carlton Cole. Demba Ba is the only WHUFC player that we will sign.

Gameiro Deal is looking more and more likely.

Danny Simpson still yet to confirm a contract offer.

i couldve swarn newcastle have a £45,000 salary cap other than those already in contracts higher than that amount like Colo so the only way these would be poss is if the overspend comes out of the £35mil too which would damage the transfer fund to the tune of £3.84mil (a cheick tiote's worth) not sayin its not poss just that these stats combined with Berba's widely publicised will to remain at MUFC make it a tad perculiar

Ed002 any news regarding Jeremy menez, alot of speculation a week ago seemed to die out recently. I've read juventus, man u at one point and liverpool which one of the eds said had zero interest. I can't seem to find much on menez being linked with anyone lately and but have read that he would be bargain transfer (somewhere i read for six million) which i doubt. {Ed002's Note - Nothing new really. Munich may be interested and Roma may be making some changes to their management which may mean Menez no longer wants to move. There are rumours, no more, of interest from Liverpool and Newcastle.}
