Reports that we are targeting Olympiakos' Greek CB Kostas Manolas as a replacement for Colo who we all know is still wanting to return home to Argentina. Manolas, 22, is currently valued at just £3 million. Cheap, young and has the potential to be sold for a profit, right up Ashley's street.

Reports that we are going to focus our efforts of recruiting a new striker on signing Alfred Finnbogason from Heerenveen in the Dutch league. His record so far is 16 in 13 and he's apparently worth £5.7 million according to transfermarkt.com He was apparently offered to us for just £5 million in the summer but for some reason Ashley/Kinnear said no.
Wouldn't mind him hopefully we could get him on the cheap.
Has anyone actually watch him play?I ask this because having a good goal scoring record is only half the player, especially in the dutch league, with players like altidore and alfonso alves having very good records in the dutch league.
That's the risk with any player from a foreign league but from what I've seen of him on youtube he looks like he could do really well plus his coach at Heerenveen is Marco van Basten. Not a bad coach for a striker.
I've watched a few videos of his youtube compilations, and mostly what I gathered from that is how bad the defending and keeping is in the dutch league. 75% of the chances he gets, there is absolutely no way he would get them in the premiership, and if he did he would be closed down a lot faster, and the keepers would certainly be making better saves. But saying that i'd love for us to sign him and him prove me wrong and be a class signing, can't fault the boy with his record but as I said the premiership is a completely different level to the one he's playing at now.
