Sports Direct News (Ashley's mouthpiece) is now saying Napoli are interested in Santon. Guess that means Ashley wants to cash in on Santon, hope nothing happens though, he's still improving and could be a very good player one day.

If we are offered over or 12mil I would take it.
Haidara has more than shown his ability at left back, and dummet isn't too bad himself and would like to see him get more games under his belt.

Peckers I agree, but i'd like to see santon given a go as a wide midfielder/winger

Agree6 Disagree28

Completely agree JToon, i'd like to see him given a chance at wide right or right midfield. I feel he'd be a great partner to debuchy who is often caught up the pitch, and would give santon a chance to improve his final third quality, which I feel is his most lacking quality.

Agree2 Disagree5

It's a nice idea but it'll never happen. The only time Pardew could try this risk free is friendlies in the summer because let's face it if Pardew tried this in a league or cup game and it didn't work we wouldn't here the end of how terrible he is. Although Santon did do well as a wingback against Wigan last season where he scored his first goal for us.

Newcastle interested in unsettled spurs midfielder Mousa Dembele as a potential replacement for cabaye.

would be a fantastic signing.

Believable10 Unbelievable31

I wasn't convinced by him at Fulham and I've not been convinced by him at Spurs. One good season in a mediocre team then he moved to a bigger one and was shown to be overrated much like Sigurdsson.

Agree4 Disagree5

Hi, JT. Not getting excited by this non-story. Spurs paid £15mill for him and he'll no doubt be on wages to match, too dear for us, plus he's been a bit of a flop - 2 goals in 61 matches. Most stories in the gutter press have nothing behind them - the clue is in the wording - 'linked with' 'interested in' 'leading the chase for' etc. I'm waiting for the ones that say 'NUFC today completed the signing of' etc. My instinct is that Jan will be quiet, not much in or out, but if I had to have a punt I'd put it on Gomis as our only signing and none of our 'purples' leaving till the summer. Vic

Agree5 Disagree48

Agreed vic, but however at spurs he's been playing as a holding midfielder, and his best position is AM and CM.

Agree3 Disagree40

What player have you lot been watching exactly?

Moussa Dembele was absolutely sensational in his last season at fulham before his move to spurs, and his first season at spurs he was a real hit. He is a absolutely class player and I feel is beyond our level. He's strong, fast, powerful, skilful, hard working he has everything to be a worldie. You do not get 55 caps for this current belguim team without being a great player, especially seeing as though he's only 26.

Also mentioning goals is rather pointless its like saying tiote only has 1 in his time at newcastle.

I very much doubt we or any other premier league club outside the top 6/7 could attract him and if he leaves spurs it will be to a continental team in europe.

Agree13 Disagree0

I would really like dembele, he's got that yaya toure type of mould, but I doubt he would come here under the current regime

Agree2 Disagree29

Peckers: no real disagreement, he looked special at Fulham and had a good first season at Spurs, but has definitely gone badly off the boil and it's not just down to playing out of position. To compare him to Tiote is misleading - Dembele has played most of his games further forward but has still not looked happy in his skin and now apparently wants away, even though he's getting games. But the main point, surely, is that he's way out of our price range - Transfermarkt have him down at £17.5m - and the whole story is a heap of cack made up by a s***ty paper.

Agree1 Disagree46

I agree he is not the same as tiote, but to talk about Dembele's goal scoring record is also misleading, it's not what he's on the pitch for these days, especially at spurs. He's not only out of our price range, I don't think he would have any intention of moving to us. We also need to focus on bringing in a striker and a centre half not a centre midfielder.

Toon to make a cut price signing of shane long from wba in january

Believable6 Unbelievable18

Would rather have Shane long than bafetimbi gomis

Agree6 Disagree27

Why would west brom sell him at a cut price exactly?

Agree8 Disagree1

Cut price as in around the 3-5.5m hull were going to pay and wba pulled the plug in 11th hour

Agree0 Disagree0

Cut Price Deal is due to Contract Expiry at the end of the Season.

Agree1 Disagree0

Wasn't aware his contract was running out, but there is also a further year's option in his contract. So it's not much of a cut price deal. I've also never been to impressed with Long, he has his good games but his goal scoring record is nothing to rave about and he clearly wasn't seen as good enough at west brom so why would he be good enough for us?

Agree1 Disagree0

Not too sure if they have an Extra Years option TBH.

Do agree with you though, he doesn't have the best goal to game ratio and in my opinion we need a reliable number 9.

Cisse was a major player when he came in but that light has since completely gone.

He doesn't understand the offside rule and his hold up play isn't great at all, I think his form could still come back but a number 9 for newcaslte needs to be the full package in my opinion.

Even Obafemi Martins did a much better job that Cisse has done, Every time Cisse scores you get the sense of (TOLD YOU I COULD DO IT) instead of a simply (GET IN THEIR).

Would love to see Ben Arfa get the number 10 role on a full time scale and see what this lad can do if we simply take the defending aspect away from his game, playing next to (not along side) Loic Remy, Them to up front in my opinion would be scary!
