Newcastle United are trying to pus through a deal for Kara Mbodj, a Defensive Midfielder who plays for Tromso in Norway.
Derek Llambias is currently in Norway trying to tie up the deal and Kara will most likely fly out to John the squad in Germany if the deal can be pushed through.
He has been Newcastle's number 1 midfield target for a while now but Alan Pardew was put off by the fact he may be away for the ACON. With Senegal now playing Ivory Coast for a place in the competition the management team at Newcastle see it as the perfect opportunity to sign him given that they will likely lose only Tiote. This therefore means that Newcastle will have the services of their Senegalese players until January 2014. It is a gamble because Senegal may beat Ivory Coast but it's a gamble Pardew and the team are willing to take.
He will cost £5.5 million and will slot alongside Tiote allowing Cabaye to play a more attacking role as part of a central 3.

Being Norwegian, i can confirm this as bull. £5,5 mill for a player would be damn near close a record fee in Norway. It's utter s**te.

Was wanted by Arsenal and Liverpool so it could happen, I just think the price is a couple of million more than it should be

Vurnon Anita to Newcastle
Newcastle are on the verge of signing Ajax midfielder Vurnon Anita for £7million.
Anita, 23, plays at left back for the Dutch club but he is also a useful defensive midfielder.
Newcastle had checked on various Ajax players but signing Anita would cover for the possible exits of Danny Simpson and Cheick Tiote.

Im hearing that the Debuchy deal is looking like its going to flop like De Jong. According to what im hearing Debuchy is going to sign a new 2 year contract extension with current club lille with a massive pay boost for him. And from this Newcastle are going to revert back to another old targer Erik Pieters as there back up plan. Also Hoilett has been on pardews radar but he is holding back whilst he watches someone else in pre season with potentially more potential, (possibly a youngster in the olympics) but his words are i am keeping my mouth sealed

Debuchy won't stay at Lille, he's said he wants to leave numerous times and that he wants to come to England

Debuchy is a right back, why would we revert to sighning a left back in peiters?

Mathieu Debuchy to Newcastle
France international Mathieu Debuchy has admitted he would relish the chance to move to England.
The 26-year-old right-back has been strongly linked with a move to Newcastle United, who are in the market with Danny Simpson expected to leave St James' Park this summer.
Debuchy, who is contracted to Lille until 2015, is in the French squad for Euro 2012 but when asked about his future he confirmed he would like the chance to play in England.
"I would like to go abroad next season," he confirmed in a press conference.
"I like other leagues, but I really like the English style. However I don't know much more, I didn't talk with my club so far.
"I am just preparing Euros so far, and I let my agents manage all that. Anyway if I stay at Lille, I would be happy anyway."
Newcastle, who have also been strongly linked with Crystal Palace's right-back Nathaniel Clyne, are known to have been keeping tabs on Debuchy for much of the season through their famed French-scouting network.

Apparently Ba has said that if he stays at us he wants the striker role back. Surely this must mean we're getting another left sided attacking midfielder/winger? Pardew has also admitted we're in talks with free agent Junior Hoilett. Rumors where that he wanted 50K a week and with only us 5cumber1and and Looserpool after him we have a great chance of signing him and should be able to lower his wages too.

QPR are favourites to sign Hoilett and reports saying they've offered him the most money. But we can offer Europe, hopefully we do sign him. GeordieJon

Qpr, and they will pay him crazy wages

We have lost Best and Lovenkrands - so the club will be looking to bring in at least one further 1st team striker, even if Ba stays.

I do think this is a good thing that we aren't likely to bring in any attackers, but surely we need to bring in a few midfielders as we will have a long fixture list next season?!

Can't believe we're not signing more u18 and reserve players, they were depleted last year, the young uns had to play too many games and they suffered for it. hope we sort it out cos it could harm their development.
