Rumour has it that we are looking at senagalese defender kouyate. As much as I would like this deal to happen we will face tough opposition in the shape of southampton and dynamo kiec
Believable13
Unbelievable11
They are opposition that shouldn't be tough, only because we got ashley.

We are looking and we ate looking but JFK. K in yer ear is putting sun tan lotion on
We will get what we deserve Nothing

We could play 3 at the back if we get him with two pacey defenders and collocini isn't slow
Agree1
Disagree3
Play three at the back, ARE YOU JOKING ME?
We had the second worst defence in the league last year! And you think we could play with four at the back
STOP PLAYING FIFA!
Agree5
Disagree2
A sweeper with wing backs means you are actually playing 5 at the back. good system if the sweeper can bring the ball out
Agree1
Disagree1
Is the guy who commented stop playing fifa the subbuteo tactics type of guy 3 central defenders if the way we should go if we can sign someone to play alongside mbiwa and collocini put debuchy and santon on the wings with sissoko or anita as sweeper with cabaye and ben arfa supporting cisse that's without knowing any new signings that may come in, some fans need to get real instead of just making childish remarks put your pram away
Agree1
Disagree1
Put your pram away. Is that not a childish remark?
Agree3
Disagree0
Sissoko or anita as sweeper. do you even know what a sweeper is? There is one defender we have who could play sweeper and that is colo, but m'biwa and saylor aren't fast enough to play 3 at the back with sweeper. Also pards has never played that type of tactics so I doubt it'll happen.
Agree2
Disagree1
M'Bwia is very quick. But our defence is strong, but last season it was a disater with Coloccini wanting to leave, Williamson and Coloccini were our only centre back around November to the new year.
Debuchy just needs a good pre season behind him.
Santon got injured, loss form.
Tiote as a CDM which protects the back four was useless and could injured. M'Bwia was a dissapointment, but will be like Debuchy, with a good pre season.
Haidara was very good in the Europa League game and played ok in one or two games in the league too.
Also lossing 6-0 to Liverpool and 3-0 to Sunderland, just the fight was not there.
Agree0
Disagree0
Point proved, and yes I know what a sweeper is someone who can play in front of the defence and bring the ball out exactly why I said sissoko he can tackle and play the ball forward why would you take collo our best defender and have him breaking forward most daft suggestion I've ever heard but thnen your the wise wing of fans
Agree1
Disagree0
A defence that leaks goals left right and centre is what I would call a strong defence what so ever but maybe i'm wrong
Agree0
Disagree0
Haha you totally don't know what a sweeper is. The sweeper sweeps up behind the the other two cb's (you normally use a sweeper with 3 at the back). So why on earth would you want them breaking forward haha
Agree0
Disagree0
Ha ha clearly dissent know football at all this lad SWEEPER lol
Agree0
Disagree0
Yes he got the sweeper wrong. He seems to think it was a DM, Makelele type.
BUT, to him saying: "why on earth would you want them breaking forward haha".
The sweeper would normally bring the ball out of defence and start attacks- e. g. Beckenbauer or occasionally as Rio does.
On topic though- Pardew playing an adventurous formation?! The long ball, 4-4-2, Ameobi on at 70th minute to lump it, plays Cisse on the wing Manager playing 3 at the back with a sweeper?! That's the most farcical thing ever posted on this site!

Shola to swfc was apparently at their training ground today
Believable9
Unbelievable11
Please be true. By far the worst player I've seen in a Newcastle shirt.
Mackem slayer? nope. Bloody awful.
He can take his brother with him aswell, another lazy tube.
Agree3

This is rubbish as swfc are away in Portugal for pre-season and there training ground was closed today
Agree1

I'd rather keep shola at the club, an extremely loyal servant to the club, cares more than most people if not anyone, and is a big personality in the dressing room, not only that but now in the premier league you need a lot of homegrown players and a lot that have grown through the club, and without people like shola and with a lot of those players being shipped out already he is vitally needed that our we spend a big amount on a over priced britsh player eg: henderson, downing, milner, carroll the list goes on and on

the mirror is reporting that we have agreed a fee for PSV under 21 goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet, because that's what we need right now, another goalkeeper.
Believable6
Unbelievable13
Sunderland fan here we where linked with Zoet after mignolet left. he is a class keeper and I was disapointed we didn't go for him. Only worry for me is that he will want first team football as he has been on loan a lot as has allways played as first team keeper. so you might be seeing Krul been sold to fund other transfers etc. I could be wrong but can't see him sitting in the bench behind Krul when he is trying to replace him for his country's no1 spot in the world cup.
Agree8
Disagree7
Correct, we do need another goalkeeper as elliot was simply never good enough also harper retired and we've brought in fresh blood.
Agree5
Disagree4
Sounds like a decent signing to me from his statistics, and with tim krul already at the club i'm sure he had some recommendation in this, could also pave the way for a move for krul in the next few years, its not something we didn't need, elliott is decent but he's not good enough, and alnwick could be good but who knows with a keeper until they go and get experience.
Agree4
Disagree3
Replaces harper.
Agree1
Disagree2
Because Krul picks up a few injuries and Elliott is poor. Excellent young goalkeeper too, if he reaches his potential he could be better than Krul. So I hardly see why we don't need him?!
Agree3

Bid has been rejected .
Agree2

Totally agree, Elliot was found wanting in many matches last season so a new keeps suits me down to the ground.
All we need now is 2 strikers and a winger and then as the fonz would say heeeeeeeeyyyyy.
Agree2
Disagree2
We do need another goalkeeper I think the choice are Kevin trapp or oliver baumann of Germany u21 because their will want to challenging for a place on the germany team & so push Tim krul

Rob elliot has made some amazing saves I have faith in him so I don't think we need another goalie

Newcastle transfers this summer.
Newcaslte are close to a deal for manchester city winger scott sinclair, bookies have stopped taking bets after we agreed a fee of around 4.5 million which will be our first signing of the summer.
Dan gosling will complete a 1.5 million move to crystal palace this week, the fee could vary based on appearances etc.
Mike williamson is another player set to leave cardiff & hull are both reported to be interested in fee between 2-3 million.
We are also close to an agreement with ajax for siem de jong, the dutchman has a year left to run on his contract although it is thought the fee could be as much as 9 million for the talented midfeilder who can also play up front.
Newcastle are set to miss out on darren bent the continuous haggling over villas 6 million asking price will see hull swoop for 5 million deal to reunite bent with steve bruce after they missed out on charlie austin due issues with his medical.
Loic remy is still of interest to us although qpr want to recoup what they paid for him which is the current stumbling block, this deal may take longer to come through than first thought as qpr want steven taylor as part of the deal, our valuation is closer to the 6 million mark that's before we have to match his ridiculous wages so don't expect much movement on this.
Given our recent trend of signing players a year after we were linked with them I wouldn't rule out luuk de jong, the dutchman hasn't settled as expected in germany & with borussia monchengladbach close to a deal for everton striker nikica jelavic there is a possibility of a deal although again the club would want at least they paid for him meaning the deal could cost as much as 12 million.
Gabriel obertan is also likely to be leaving this with the club offering him back to his former club, other options include a return to france as part of a deal for either ryad boudebouz of sochaux or kurt zouma from st ettiene, most likely it will still be 2 million move back to bordeaux.
Another one of the victims of this summers clear out will be shane ferguson, wolves & birmingham are thought to interested in a 1.5 million move although he could be loaned out again.
On the subject of loans sammy ameobi will spend the first half of next season out on loan to gain regular first team football, hull, cardiff. Middlesborough & wigan are thought to be interested.
Now to the yohan cabaye saga, nothing has changed as yet there are no bids on the table just plenty of interest, it is not beyond question that he could stay at the club until at least january as he has yet to ask for a transfer or make any comment on the rumours of his exit.
If cabaye does go PSG seem the most likely destination, this could mean a player plus cash deal involving a transfer fee of anything between 12 & 18 million plus mahamadou sakho or kevin gameiro both players we have shown interest in the past are thought to be unhappy at psg.
Monaco are another option and certainly could match any bid from psg but given that they have had much less to say about cabaye & have already signed one top class central midfielder they seem unlikly to make a move.
Again if cabaye does leave newcastle will look at replacing him with james mcarthy from wigan although its thought wigan could want as much as 12 million for him.
Other players of interest this summer include leroy fer, adrian lopez, cristian erikson, batemfi gomis & andre pierre gignac but don't hold too much hope of these happening.

Can't believe you spent your time writing that. Sounds good but won't happen know substance to it.
Agree10

I gave up reading it after the second line, seeing as though the club have come out and denied any dealings with man city regarding Scott sinclair
Also Williamson going for 2-3 mil is rather unlikely i'd pay someone to take him off our squad, so to receive 2-3mil would be one of the best pieces of business I will witness. As well with Obertan moving for 2 mil again i'd pay for someone to take him off our books.
I also doubt the club will sell ferguson, and I highly doubt that a deal for cabaye will involve a player especially sakho.
Overall extremely unbelievable and rather a waste of everyones time.

An excellent summary of what could possibly happen. I'd be more than happy with a 50% being correct and factual.

Isn't obertans previous club man utd? Why would they want him back

Yes obertans club before us was Manchester United, so I predict this persons story is rubbish

Well, it looks good. But is there any base to it?

And before Manchester United Obertans previous club was in France, which I think the guy is talking about.

Makes sense: We'll miss out on Bent because Villa want £6million and he's signing for Hull for £5million?
