I sent a message asking this same question a few days ago but i dont think it ever came up, so Ed ive heard we're heavily interested in Jerson Cabral of Feyenoord, you heard anything about this? {Ed002's Note - A little. Feyenoord's Jerson Cabral is attracting interest from Spurs, Lille, Copenhagen, Stoke and Newcastle.}

Cheers Ed. Think we should go for him, he's still quite raw but got a lot of potential, would be a very good signing.

Newcastle United have made tentative enquiries about the availability of Bayern Munich's Thomas Muller.

He is currently in and out of the team and is somewhat unhappy at his current status as a bench warmer.

A lot rests on the outcome of the Champions Leauge final and Newcastles involvement in the competition next year, but if the toon manage to make top 4 and Bayern beat Chelsea, then expect transfer activity to happen quickly as Newcastle try and finalise the deal before Euro 2012.

I highly doubt we could afford his wages and transfer fee.

Too expensive for us unfortunately, quality player though...

Fortunately german footballers are not on mega bucks. Unfortunately if he was available i think clubs such as Man utd, Juve and Real would be interested.

Bayern munich pay out huge wages... hes probably on 100k a week

There's a reason Munich is known as Hollywood FC in Germany.

Agree2 Disagree1

100k a week aint mega bucks in todays climate.. And its players such as ribery and robben who are in that bracket. so if a deal was actually available 60k would probably be enough...

Find it hilarious that some 'reporters' have to resort to such poor articles as the below..

Club statement released on Tuesday:

An erroneous story has been circulated this evening by Steve Goodman*, regarding Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse and Real Madrid, is taken from a recent interview Papiss conducted with L’Equipe.

In the article, Mr Goodman states that Papiss has issued a “come and get me” appeal to Real Madrid. This statement is utterly untrue.

In the interview with L’Equipe, Papiss responded to a question about Real Madrid to say that he has admired the club since he was young. This in no way constitutes a ‘come and get me’ plea.

Mr Goodman further claims that Papiss ‘insisted he hopes to join them [Real Madrid]‘. Papiss has never made such a statement and refutes the suggestion in the strongest possible terms.

The player is completely committed to Newcastle United and is not interested in anything other than ensuring he and the team finish the season as strongly as possible.

The matter is now in the hands of the player’s legal representatives.

* Goodman's name has previously appeared on transfer tales printed by The Scotsman, Sun, Mirror, Mail, News of The World and People.

His story in the latter paper back in February claimed that Papiss Cisse had been set to join Bayern Munich from Freiburg, before Newcastle made their move.

Ed? I know its probably rubbish but I've just heard a rumour that both Inter Milan and Real Madrid have enquired about Cisse. Do you know if there is any truth in this? {Ed008's Note - No truth.

Believable5 Unbelievable13

Doesn't have any legs whatsoever; the club have issued a statement saying they (nufc and Cisse) are suing the author of that article (Steve Goodman) for libel/defamation as he has just put words into the mouth of the player and passed off as true. Typical Sun journalism.

It so not true that cisse is taking legal action against the reporter!

I have actually heard that real madrid are linked with cisse, but heard nothing about inter being interested.
