Some newspapers are reporting that we may move for Danny Welbeck since it seems there's going to be a huge summer clear out at Man U as they're trying to fix the major problem of only having 3 or 4 good players.

Believable3 Unbelievable19

Think 3/4 is a big of exaggeration, Rooney, RVP, Mata, Carrick, Fellani, Jones, De Gea, Evans, Januzaj, Zaha, Hernandez and a few youngsters I consider "good" yes most aren't great but they are hardly awful, Cleverly, Smalling, Nani, Young and Rafael are awful though.

Agree1 Disagree1

When I was talking about good players I was talking about RVP, Rooney, Mata and Januzaj. Forgot about Carrick, not seen enough of Zaha at PL level to comment, De Gea's okay Evans and Jones are overrated and Fellani's been awful at Man U, he was good at Everton who were okay under Moyes and he is in fact mediocre. I completely agree with Cleverly (even typing his name hurts me), Smalling etc.

Agree1 Disagree1

Fellani has been injured and changed position. I see your point on Zaha. Evans isn't overrated, he isn't Manchester United champions league standard to be fair, he is like Everton standard. Jones is overrated but so are lots of good players. Carrick is a bit past it I suppose. But they can't buy 8/9 players in the summer, kind of like what AVB tried to do with 7 players for Tottenham. 3/4 in the summer will do grand. But I am from Northern Ireland, and a lot of people I know are Man United fans, and I am loving their failure

Agree0 Disagree2

We aren't going to be the only team clearing the cupboards in the summer. I just hope we don't get too many players that aren't good enough for other teams in the prem (man u). It doesn't help to bicker between ourselves, especially where mackems and other clubs'fans will be laughing at you for it.

If it's true that we are set to appoint a new managing director then it has to be a footballing man like cortese but I fear Ashley is going to appoint llambias

Believable1 Unbelievable8

Don't want Cortese, he's got a habit of spending lots of money on bad players. Look at his Saint Etienne or Liverpool records and you'll see why.

Agree3 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - you are thinking of Comolli mate, Cortese was at Southampton, not Liverpool or St. Etienne.}

Ah. There's still a problem with having these people at the club. They have a European way of thinking which is they get the players they think look good regardless of whether the manager (who gets little say on the matter) wants or needs them. Luuk de Jong was likely a victim of this, the Gladbach manager didn't want or need him but someone liked him so bought him anyway.

Agree1 Disagree0

That's what a director of football does. A managing director isn't the one who finds the players, if we got in cortese, pardew and Carr would scout and agree on the players to buy (within budget) and cortese would sort out the transfer. If we got in a new DOF instead, it would have to be someone who knows his stuff, knows what areas need strengthening and knows how to get the best deal out of a club to buy a player, prime example is Txiki Begiristain at Man City. But I think Damien Comolli is a good DOF.

Agree2 Disagree5

{Ed001's Note - he's not mate, Comolli is useless. He is an absolute joke.}
