Newcastle have lined up a move for highly-rated full-back Taylor as they battle to keep hold of Jose Enrique.

A number of clubs are chasing Spanish defender Enrique and Newcastle have targeted Taylor as his possible replacement.

22-year-old Taylor has established himself as one of the best defenders in the country after impressing for Swansea since his arrival from Wrexham last summer.

Taylor has broken into the Wales side and he played a key role in helping Swansea win promotion to the Premier League.

However, it appears Swansea could lose the former Manchester City youngster for as little as £1million due to a buy-out clause in his contract at the Liberty Stadium.

Newcastle are ready to offer Taylor a lucrative deal to make the move to St James' Park this summer

why do people keep saying we have signed CABAYE? no contract has been offered yet and he has only told lillie he will be playing for newcastle next season. we will sign him, but he will go on holidays and then his agent will hold talks with us along with CABAYE. so people sto saying we have signed him. if we did it would be in the papers, bbc sport website sky sports website nufc website lillie website, so stop saying we have! ! 1 HE HAS JUST AGREEDED TO JOIN And for GERVINHO i don't think we will get him, he would have been great, but if he was wanting to join us, he would have said by the weekend, i think he will go to spain. Also the club are thought to be losing interest in Gervinho, as his agents are weighing up a Bosman move at the end of next season. There were Newcastle scouts at Wembley apparently looking at Barnetta yesterday, personally I hope they got a good look at Shakiri and launch a bid there.

Why would his agent want him to leave on a free his agent is likely to get next to nout then whereas if he leaves now his agent will get a big paycheck.
