2 Non football brains trying to raise their own profiles
The players wants do not matter to them
Get out Debuchy

Agree0 Disagree0

Which part is unbelievable???

Agree0 Disagree0

I am not sure I agree with doing business like this, I thought the Barcelona poaching of Fabregas was underhanded behaviour and I would not like us to start going down that path, Remember if we sanction this kind of behaviour we cannot complain if other clubs do it to us.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't believe we have done anything wrong, we have made an offer and its been rejected, its Debuchy who is making the noise, its now up to Newcastle to put another offer in, its not like the Fabregas situation at all

Agree0 Disagree0

The rumour is Newcastle put in the 6m + clauses that Lille said they wanted, then Lille moved the goal posts, Debuchy has got to be upset abut this!

Agree0 Disagree0

The problem is, as Garcia's gloatingly pointed out, Debuchy will be sacrificing his international career if he refuses to play.

First de jong now debuchy saga that ends in teams claiming newcastle offering too little under the asking price. I think I can safely say anita is not coming and come 24th august Douglas won't be signing. Recon no senior squad players will sign. Mebs 1 more youngster.

Believable17 Unbelievable15

There is a month left of the transfer window. We will get bodies through the door that will strengthen the first team. Apart from Chelsea, no side has made any significant purchases.
Debuchy will sign, but we are playing the long game with Lille. If they think that we will be pressured into paying more than we want they are wrong. If Lille do not drop their price they will end up with an unhappy player that will feel like the club has denied him a chance to progress his career.

Arsenal has made som very good signings in Podolski, Giroud and now Carzola. Tottenham has brought in Sigurdsson and Jan Verthongen. Chelsea has as you said brought in lots of good players. Man City don't have to bring in more but they surely will. Man U has picked up Kagawa from Dortmund.

Big Mike need to realise now that trying to haggle over money now isn't going to work so well. Teams know how we work and know we will offer below what a player is valued at... If Newcastle really do want players in they need to realise we are a European Club now and that comes with bigger names and bigger prices... Howa Mike put your hand in your pockets

Agree0 Disagree1

Agreed, however Arsenal will lose their best player in Van Persie, as well as possible Wallcot. Spurs have lost King, have only one recognised striker in Defoe, and will probably lose their best player Modric. If you compare our current squad, i seriously would not swap with either of them. Man City, and Man U operate on a different level, so they can't be classed in the same category. That said, if i was a Man u fan, i would look at a lot of players currently playing for the Toon with envy. Go through their starting 11, and then compare to ours. Then think back 2 years, and decide who is on the up.

Agree1 Disagree0

Chelsea only have 1 central striker and that is Torres, Arsenal yet AGAIN have signed any defenders which is laughable, Man Utd cannot get a central midfielder and their back line is falling apart, Tottenham are only really patching up positions they are losing players. If Anything Newcastle has strenghened its squad more than most of the other teams just by keeping it together but it would be criminal for us to have a squad this good and not go that extra short few steps and get a top quality centreback and right back.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ashley isn't a billionaire because of luck... he knows what he's doing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly, "dont panic" it will all come together soon, keep the faith.

Agree0 Disagree0

That sturridge kid isnt to bad either

Agree0 Disagree0

Sturridge is a good player, but a terrible trainer. Now he's got a role in the Chelsea/England team he thinks he's made it. I reckon he'd be another Freddy Shepherd-style signing if Newcastle bought him - high wages, low effort.
We might not make many senior transfers - but I reckon there's still a strong chance of Debuchy forcing a move. Worst case scenario there's more chance for the youth who have been brought in to have their shot.

Ed, in your opinion, what will the toon do now the debuchy deal appears to be off? Any other candidates? {Ed007's Note - I wouldn't say the Debuchy deal is definitely off. There is a while to go in the window yet and chess is always a complicated game to follow or second guess your opponent in.}

Sign Olssen and move Santon to RB

Agree0 Disagree1

It is not that complicated, other clubs are doing what we can't. It is impossible to only find bargains. Sometime we will have to pay what a player is worth just to strengthen our squad and show a bit ambition. All that know football says that Newcastle have to strengthen to be ablt to compete for another top 6 finish as well as play in Europe. All knows this except the ones running our club sadly. Look at the teams we are competing with for a top 4, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham has bought in a lot this window and Man U and Man C has big good squads already but will still buy some new additions. We need 3-4 senior players this window or we will end up at best 6-8 in the league.

Agree0 Disagree0

Where exactly are these 3-4 senior players going to play. Im almost certain they will not be happy sitting on the bench. Our academy has just been down scaled partly due to the fact our youngsters do. ot progress. Instead of giving them a chance you want to hamper their progress? Get off football manager. We work in the lille/dortmund mould of success buy young/cheap, train and sell. Get used to it and stop living in the 90's

It's pretty obvious with what's goin on with Debuchy. He wants to come to Newcastle and Newcastle want him. Newcastle obviously told him to come out and tell everyone he wants to come here. This was planned to twist LOSC arm and force through a move. LOSC aren't stupid and they no we will sign him eventually. Probably on the last day of the transfer window when we agree inbetween our valuation and theirs.
