I think mike Ashley is not doing a bad job at the moment . 35 million is excellent for a player who has only played 6 months in the top league. I agree I to think hulk and Ricky van wolfswinkel is the 2 signing to get with 35 million. Infact why don't we sell all are strikers in the summer and buy new. Get ridd of the dead wood

The hulk 25m and van wolfswinkel 10m will be excellent signings in the summer. I think if we can get both of them we will be a top 5 team. Ed what do you think. A1 chef {ed's note - I don't know, Rocky and Bullwinkle didn't impress against Liverpool, but he is young and quick. As for Hulk, I think he is more likely to end up at a team in Europe, which I really can't see happening for Newcastle this season. Would be a fantastic signing though and the pair of them would compliment each other well.}

Is it just me or should Newcastle have asked about taking N'gog on loan as part of the Carroll deal he may not be the best player at the minute but the more he plays the better he is going to get and I think he would have been a good addition until the end of the season. He could be injured I'm not sure.

I think that we should spend of that money on a good but not especially known striker, such as Fernando Llorante who we could probably buy for about 22 mill. {ed's note - Spurs had a £35m bid rejected for one of the most sought after strikers in the world - Fernando Llorente.}

Hi does anyone know if there is a clause to buy Ireland in the summer or does he go straight back to the villians. . Also i have heard we are after Wickham for 8-10m in the summer not sure if that will be enough also we are after lallana for saints for the same amount good young players I sure well bring in a Premier Class Striker untill Ranger and Wickham get better or sold lol. . Also want to know if there is a clause to bring back Xisco incase we need him i still think he could be a good player if hes given time in the team. .

The economics of football never cease to amaze me, harry Redknapp who nearly became our manager, goes to madrid to watch Diego Forlan with Kevin bond. Forlan is 32, paid £140,000 per week and would cost £15m, and is very happy there.sadly Harry got robbed !But what was the point in going there? Also he supposedly made a£35m bid for Rossi who was on loan with us !Is football going mad, no way is he worth half that !No wonder Ashley is trying to cut costs the economics do not make any sense whatsover.Football expenses make MP expenses look tame by comparison !

What both Pardew and Del Boy said was "the money won't be leaving the club". That is not the same as spending it on players. If it paid off debt (to one M.Ashley) the money would not leave the club, but would improve its financial position. The statement also glosses over what will happen to the money from Sky and from season tickets.

Heskey is a no-go, Toon want young hungry players and lets all face reality, we will NOT sign any big names, wages are a stop to that. Why sign Ireland? Another midfielder who happens to be injured too. If Toon survive this season, i hope Ashley has a buyer in summer because if he said that all Carrolls money will be spent, then he is hoping he will be away from club before then with it in his back pocket.
