I've heard in mexico that newcastle has initiated the first contact for sign JAN VERTONGHEN, the team made an offered of around 11 million of euros, this has been confirmed by the agency that represents the player.

Newcastle journal says this morning we have made an official enquiry. I think this would be a good long term signing, just hope he can hit the ground running in the epl, as that's what's needed. Thought samba would be a good signing epl experience and a beast in the air( like s taylor) but is quite slow. After Wednesday night it showed we need pace at the back as collo is not that quick but usually reads the game well enough to counter this. All in all I think we need a cb who is very quick and strong in the air. Not many of them around. Any thoughts?

I'd love to see this happen just what we need but can't see it happening.
