Arsenal in for tiote for £20 mil, wenger willing to let theo walcott to join the toon on season long loan deal, with newcastle having to pay only half his wages as part of the deal.

Believable5 Unbelievable19

Season long loan and then lose him for nothing? Don't think so.

Agree1 Disagree0

Boring and dry

Agree1 Disagree0

Tiote isn't going anywhere. How many times. Why would we want wallcott either?

Agree1 Disagree0

Also am i the only person that noted theo is a terrible football player?

Agree0 Disagree0

Season long loan, lose our best performer of last season. And have to pay baby Walcott like 60,000 a week... Please mate Big Col is our captain and he isnt on that... Never happen

Agree0 Disagree0

That's generally how a loan works mate, yes. Can't see Wenger allowing him away in any format though.

Agree0 Disagree0

The skipper is on that, he's on around 80k a week. The only player, in which I am aware of, who has a wage bracket of over 50. However, this rumour is horrific, a poor effort.

This is an opinion from a season ticket holder of 30 years, please respond but no abuse please. Only an opinion. To me, we will get no where near winning the premier league and with the finances and ambition of the top 6 or so clubs, will never get in the top 4 soon. So why does Pardew dismiss the cups? Our biggest hope of winning a cup is the Capital one cup ( league cup) followed by the FA Cup then the Europa cup. I was annoyed at Pardews comments about the Europa cup being a distraction!! I have paid almost £1000 for a 2 night stay in Athens with flights etc to watch my beloved team in Europe. I WANT my team to progress and have the chance to visit various countries supporting the team, be it our first team or as Pardew puts it our shadow squad. ME? I would give my right arm to be at Wembley this season to watch Colo lift the Capital one cup, SO Mr Pardew,if you say you respect the support, RESPECT US by playing to WIN a cup and not i nsult us with teams of kids and hope they do well. As long as we stay in Premier league AND win a cup i will be a happy supporter. Thank you.

Believable12 Unbelievable13

Safc supporter, come in peace,as for your comments above i reckon your right to be a bit miffed.ive been going to safc since 83 and weve strived for europe for years,i know newcastle have been in it many times over the past 20 years and i cant remember them taking it lightly,so for pardew to say its a distraction is very sad news,i know mon will pull out all the stops 4 safc to get as far as they can in cup comps, because as a team well outside the top 4 its the most we can hope for,and i reckon nufc should target the cup comps very seriously even if it is the lesser of the european cups it still has great pulling power for great players to be attracted to play for your club, and its still a massive trophy to win,i remember boro when they got to the final and it was buzzing in this area of the world, anyway best of luck 4 the season.tk73

Agree0 Disagree0

A very valid point. I respect your point of view, especially as you've been a supporter for such a long time. However, I have to disagree. If the team can maintain a top six finish in the league for a few years and use cups to develop some potentially great players in to a great team, it'll be worth it when we are challenging on several fronts every year. It would be amazing to see our team play at Wembley soon though and I do hope it happens in the next few years. Things are looking so promising at the moment, I hope the team continues to grow and we don't become just a conveyor belt for talent, a selling club... a business

Agree0 Disagree0

He dismissed the cups because the reality of the situation is that the majority of the fans place the most importance on the league

Agree0 Disagree0

So what team would you have pardew put out in Greece, with Chelsea 2 days later..?

Agree1 Disagree0

I can see both sides to this point of view! I remember how important the cup was to me when we made appearances against united in 99, and the semi against Chelski in 2000, which I was lucky (or unlucky!) enough to be at! We were driving behind the team bus through North London to Wembley for the semi against Chelski, and the reactions of the fans as the bus drove past them was something that'll never forget! It's a shame that we don't have that enthusiasm for the cups anymore, however I can fully understand why we choose development players for them. Our league position last year I put down to allowing the younger players to gain experience, letting more senior players focus more on the league! That and the awesome signing cisse. Like I say, it is a shame, but if it means that we can progress higher in the table by allowing senior players to focus on the league, then I agree with it.

Agree0 Disagree0

One Cup vs continued league success? No contest, the league please! i respect your opinion and to see the team lift a cup would be a dream, but i wouldn't trade it for a top 6 finish each year. Sure we aren't going to win the league this year (we'll not likely anyway), but i'd rather look forward to every weekend knowing we have a shot at winning and that we are building a very competitive side, rather than getting beat down and hoping for some cup run. You say you want a chance at a cup? well if you want to continue to have a chance at European silverware every year than the league must come first. Be patient, we are just back into Europe, we have a game two days later against a very though side and we still have a home leg. If we reach the business end of the competition (like any other) Pard's will field a strong side.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets be honest its highly unlikely we are going to win the Europa league and if we do we will struggle in the league because our squad isnt big enough and probably finish mid table. If we play a weaker team in Europe and finish 5th again, whats going to be the bigger attraction for players when we want to improve our squad next summer, mid table and decent Europa cup run or Europa football next season and a 5th place finish? Also look at the money you win for winning the Europa league it about the same as one place higher up in the premier league table so financially it make sense too. A domestic cup would be nice and if we are going to have a real go then surely the League cup is going to be our best chance!

Agree0 Disagree0

Where is the faith? Ofcourse we can finish in the top 4, we nearly did last season for crying out loud! AP is right so say what he says and in fact I think he took way to many seniors to Greece. I am hoping young Campbell starts along with Biri, Amal and so on.

Agree0 Disagree0

With respect I think you're on the wrong page. This isn't an opinions page. Do you have a rumour?

Agree0 Disagree0

We all want to see us lift a cup the the main thing is always the league! AP has it right, the higher up the league we go the more money we win the better players we will attract if we can hold our place in 5th again this year.
AP knows fine well its one or the other, we dont have a team like chelsea or city were there reserves are just as good as most PL first teams.
AP wont go into games with half a heart he will be trying to pick the best possible team to win the games, but the end of the day its the league that matters first!
What would you rather see Newcastle chuck everything at the 3 cups, and finish 10-15 if not worse?
Or battle for the league finish 5th again maybe get close to a cup final, then bring in reinforcements next year?
That's just my view I think the league is more important, much more. 60 years with out a cup I can wait a little bit longer, once we have a good hold on the top 5 then aim for glory

Agree0 Disagree0

It is a matter of priorities. If the Europa League had a huge financial gain to progressing through each round, if the league cup had a place in europe and large prize money, if the fa cup gave you entry to the CL. They don't, so the only way to continue to progress as a club, and keep a steady flow of good money coming into the club, which in turn leads to a better squad, the only real target is Champions League qualification. I don't like it, it is just the way it is.
I would love to see NUFC win a cup (i have never seen us win anything, apart from championship league winners 92/93 and 09/10).
I think Pardew is doing the right thing. If we can progress through the competitions in the early rounds whilst protecting our top players then great, they can come in later rounds. If we get knocked out in the early rounds of 1 or 2 competitions then that frees top players to play in all the remaining games (league and remaining cup). Unfortunately only the mega rich clubs can compete on all fronts due to squad depth (hence only teams like Chelsea/City/Man U have a monopoly on the cups/league). The only way to join them is through high league finishes.

Col

Agree0 Disagree0

Their strongest team to play the qualifier for me. Chelsea will give us a seeing to no matter who we play.

Agree0 Disagree0

The Domestic cups have became a run out for fringe players, The F.A and Carling cup have lost their sparkle since most of the top teams are not even bothered about winning them anymore unless it is to add an extra piece of silverware to the league. The Premier league and Champions league is where it is all at, Do we want to try and be a big fish in a small pond or mix it with the best? We have a huge stadium and fanbase so should be thinking bigger.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fizzy pop league is your next bet of of lifiting a cup

Agree0 Disagree0

Very good post mate a bit surprised a bit of negativity about it like you have said you have paid good money to go tonight and want to see newastle win the game. as most fans know the money is in the champions league but can you compete at that level i know newcastle had a good season but you have to think that man city/utd along with chelsea will fill the top 3 along with arsenal pushing for fourth then the also rans from the league vying for 5th and 6th. good post i hope you enjoy the game and get the result you want

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone remember what happened to Newcastle when Dalglish placed importance on cups and not the league? I do and it was a nightmare.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry, but i would be happy to see us finish 14th and win a trophy, does anyone agree ???

Agree0 Disagree0

Duno about 14th n cup.... I think we are strong and good enough to push on in all cups and expect top 6.. Whats the point of pushing for a top 6 if we aint gonna take europe seriously... The extra 5m between 10th n 5th can surely be 10m if we do well on the continent.. its also about getting average jo who heards sheep in nomansStan to know who the geordies n toon are. Saying that whilst serving in iraq, more locals wore toon tops than chelski ones... ok ok i gave em mine.. still counts

Agree0 Disagree0

No, i don't think we should be settling for anything other than a top 6 finish, and a cup, that would be MASSIVE success. to finish 14th with a cup is a dissapointing season, yes we may have a trophy but certainly a poor league season. We should have a winning attitude and hold our heads up. Like ben arfa said, we can challenge for the title, he doesn't mean we'll win it, he means we'll make it harder and compete. Just because we haven't got very good finances doesn't mean we haven't got a good team or challenge for anything big. We have a top 6 team so we can challenge for a cup and top 5 this season.

Newcastle haven't bid for Douglas and won't try and sign him after issues relating to his attitude and character.

Newcastle will now focus all their efforts on Angelo Ogbanna as they attempt to sure up their back line.

Matheui Debuchy remains the priority for the full back position whilst the toon would also like to sign forward Loic Remy before the window closes.

Believable12 Unbelievable7

Great heart felt post mate. I think they should award champions league place to FA Cup winners. In respect of UEFA I think Pardew will pick a team to qualify and that's what counts. The money in champions league is immense and that is what will take us to the next level season after season. Last year was great you have to trust in pardew and Ashley keep the faith!

End of the day Shepherd would have bankrupt us it could be worse!

Agree0 Disagree0

My brother in law is Spanish n he's telling Valencia considering bid for tiote {Ed003's Note - I don't think Valencia will listen to him to be honest mate}

Agree0 Disagree0

Valencia who are in financial trouble? That Valencia? Yah come talk to Mike then, he will bleed them dry.

Agree0 Disagree0

Loads of reports saying, Fulham have agreed a deal for Douglas reported fee of £4.5million after FC Twente accepted a bid last night. Looks like we're gonna miss out on another long term target, can't see us signing anyone until January now.

Does anyone know if were going to release a 3rd Kit? We seem to release one every year but there's been almost no news on it. A 3rd kit is supposed to be a Europe away kit so it would be pretty ironic if the one year we don't have 3rd kit is the one year were actually in Europe.

TAJSG21

Believable6 Unbelievable3

There is a third kit, not sure on the release date due to home kit only recently being released it has pushed back the third kit due to supply, i work for sports company and we placed the forward orders back in april

Agree0 Disagree0

It's Lime-green with a navy blue trim. Doesn't look as bad as it sounds, idk whether it's been released on the website yet but it's in the Premier League Handbook or something

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, its illuminous green, horrible, i saw staff wearing it in a video from the training ground recently

Agree0 Disagree0

Prob release it after you are knocked out of the Europa League! A full RRP shirt in sports direct won't go down well with its shoppers! FTM

Agree0 Disagree0

THere is a line green one coming out

Agree0 Disagree0

Isn't the 3rd kit generally released toward the end of August/start of September?

Agree0 Disagree0

30th august supposedly! {Ed055's Note -

I am a gooner but with an un-dieing admaration for newcastle and mr pardew so bear with me... If tottenham sign m'villa you will most likely sign huddlestone this would oil a move for tiote to go toarsenal obviously arsenal could sign mvilla and you could sell tiote to chelski but what s your opinion on what i previously suggested?
Up the toon army, thanks for beating totenham ;)

Saint arsenal

Believable1 Unbelievable16

Huddlestone seems to be on his way to stoke and i doubt any team other than chelski will offer the asking price for tiote which could end up as high as double what Barca paid for Song.

Agree0 Disagree0

Opinion Tiote isn't going anywhere. Why would he leave us to go to a rival or why would we sell to a rival?

Agree0 Disagree0

Honestly don't think Tiote will be leaving in this window, but if it does happen it will be for offers north of say £20-25 million. So one thing you can be sure of is that Arsenal will not pay that. Ashley will not sell for coppers.

Agree0 Disagree0

Huddlestone going to stoke

Agree0 Disagree0

Tiote is great at what he does, but his range of passing isn't that great. Still though probably one of my favorite players. He's stated loads of times that he loves Newcastle and doesn't like the idea of living in the Capital. Though if a huge bid came in the it might be hard to say no, given that Anita has just arrived. He's one of the top players that is replaceable.

Agree0 Disagree0

Huddlestone has joined Stoke. And even if Tottenham signed M'Vila, what logic suggests NUFC would then sign Huddlestone?

Arsenal will have to offer a lot of money for Tiote. I'm not sure they are willing to do this

Agree0 Disagree0

None of the above will happen this season regarding tiote

You will get m'vila though

-D

Agree0 Disagree0

That will never happen. What did you drink to make that up? SMB

Agree0 Disagree0

No chance why would we want huddlestone
Tioite has already stated he's not interested in moving so would take a large bid
Cant see it happening myself

Agree0 Disagree0

Huddlestone signed for stoke and we will keep tiote thanks :P

Tiotes going no where!

Weve got just over a week left. I think our priority has to move away from Debuchy to getting a CB and a striker. If the deal was going to happen it would of by now, and now we need to make sure we get the cover positions in that we actually need right now. Simpson can do until January!

Believable4 Unbelievable5

Simpson out as he wants more than £20k a week wages. Sell him to the mackems lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do we require a striker? {Ed055's Note - Because competing in 4 competitions we need more than the 2 ba's and the mackem slayer, 1 more addition is required, especially after letting best and lovenkrands go.

Agree0 Disagree0

There's a rumor Espanyol are interested in Simpson - can't really see it, but he should be marketable. MA isn't going to let him go for cheap in January. He either signs now or goes this window. I suspect MA is just playing chicken on Debuchy. I would expect one in one out at right back, but agree we need another proven CB and a striker. Otherwise we better hope we are injury free, which is pretty unlikely.

Agree0 Disagree0

it's true we look short on strikers. Ba, Cisse and Amiobi being the main one's. But we can also play young Amiobi, Arfa, Maxeaur, Vuckic, Amlifituse and Obertan up front or just behind the main striker.Besides the Euro matches aren't so important, hardly any money.
I heard a while back we were looking at Brahimi (another who can play second striker) but i've heard nothing since. Geordieexpat

22 Aug 2012 09:44:58
You guys should sign Nilmar. Can play out wide, second striker, in the hole and in his own

Believable3 Unbelievable8

Nilmar has gone to the middle east to play football.

I'd have loved to see him but he's already joined some club in the middle east.

If Tiote goes for 20 Million what do you think of this for a deal.

Out
Tiote 20 million

In
Anita 6 million
Debuchy 7 million
Douglas 7 million
= 20 Million (estimate but accurate)

I know this way it looks like we have not spent money but if you had to choose between keeping Tiote or getting these 3 players I think it would be a great bit of business. {Ed055's Note - My opinion if Song is worth 15 million, Tiote is worth 25 with the length of his contract, I would be dissapointed to only get 20 mill for him but your right though good bit of business but we still need another striker

Believable1 Unbelievable8

Douglas is only £4.5m which has been accepted apparently also fulham have had that accepted. Fulham lead the way according to most media reports. If we were to sell tiote then I would personally prefer to see a striker in for around £10m and if we were to succeed with Douglas would leave around £5.5m plus the £13m left over from the £20m we were promised at the start of the window(I say that with the highest amount of sarcasm) which would leave is with £18.5m coz remember all transfer money goes back in the club. We have apparently bid £12m for Carroll take it or leave it also.

Agree0 Disagree0

Disgraceful deal. we already have enough money to buy both without selling tiote.

Agree0 Disagree0

Man transfers out to date have paid for Anita Who is suppossed to be Guthries replacement

Agree0 Disagree0

Good shout. Agree with Ed tho', £25m sounds better!

Agree0 Disagree0

We all know that we will probably lose Tiote on the last day of this window with now time for additions.

Agree0 Disagree0

You are seriously unbalanced if you think toite is worth even 20mil

Agree0 Disagree0

We've already signed anita,

Agree0 Disagree0

Great piont ed

Agree0 Disagree0

Unbalanced if Tiote is worth £20 million. Like Ed says Song went for £15 million with a year left. Tiote has 4 years left and next to Ya Ya Toure is the best DM in the PL.

Agree0 Disagree0

Douglas off to Fulham - another wannabe professional that love the city life!

Agree0 Disagree0

I love the energy and enthusiasm of Tiote, but he has to be one of the worst passers of the ball in the team.
IrishToon

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with Ed ,he's worth £25m plus all day long.

Agree0 Disagree0

Like the poster said, He was saying if we had a choice between Tiote and those 3 players it would be a good deal. It is ok saying we should keep Tiote and buy those 3 players (1 already in) but correctly look at what the poster said. Just because Anita is already at the club does not mean that his transfer fee has been written of the books.
