Pieters to put pen to paper on NUFC contract by Wednesday night - Mobido Maiga 70/30 to sign when new official bid by toon has been lodged also waiting on UEFA decision about 'tapping up' the 23 year old Sochaux striker.

Not so sure about the maiga deal, seems to look pretty positive lately on the pieters situation though ssn website say pieters would like move to premier league just waiting on official bid. PSV say there is nothing they can really do if correct offer is made. He seemed solid in their recent 3-0 win.

Wouldlike is to take a gambell on Pat McCourt? I think he is a very good player very skillfull and has a good left and right peg on him and has pace. Dont leave comments saying oh he is crap, he cant get on for celtic, reson being neil lennon wont give him a chane. Scoring a good goal against the Faroe islands isnt anything to shout about and not getting a run in the team at Man Utd but being a regular top international at all youth levels for France and only 23 is a lot different to Not getting a game for Celtic.

Newcastle hope to strike a either by end of day or tommorow on pieters 6.5 million on 4 year deal - the maiaga 1 is almost complete but there board holding out for 10 million newcastle saying 8.5mil (9 million comprimise will be made) if not done on friday it will be touch and go by next wednesday as newcastle want it done by weekend if not turn attention to other targets, bendtner and lesser targets such as macheda and even bellamy is been mentioned around the club.

ranger will go on loan to birmingham, and still looking at maybe moving on simpson as attitude to contract not pleasing the board Barton will stay - however i dont have a clue what will happen next season with him.

Agreed Maiga is over rated and no pace and will be missing for the African Cup.
I'd rather an experienced striker with EPL experience but I doubt we'll get one.

I think Simpson has bigger things to think about than a contract which still has time to run, having just had a child 4 or 5 weeks ago

Mobido Maiga missed Sochaux’s game at Nancy yesterday citing an ankle injury (Sound suspicious?). Erik Pieters and M'Bengue back in frame for left back position.

I heard Maiga missing the game due to illness (apparently)
